2005 Model LM-5 - 5 string Jazz Style "modern" bass (70's PU spacing). Active bass with a push-pull passive knob. Ash body with Maple fingerboard.
I give this a 9 because i just feel like the volume switch between the active and passive mode is way too drastic. Everything else is flawless.

A great meaty Marcus Miller type jazz tone when you want it; passive bump can be there, too. Could use a little more "character" but this will only get better with age.

This section is why I was motivated to write a review on this instrument. This is BY FAR the greatest playing bass i have ever felt. I go to music stores all the time and play high end basses in NYC where the best of the best are at your disposal. I don't usually go into much detail on things like this -- a bass either feels good or it feels bad, thats it. This bass is a masterpiece in terms of construction and playability. It is balanced and lightweight; plays great sitting down or strapped up. The neck is very comfortable and fast. The action is comparable with top of the line classical guitars. You just touch the string to the fret ever-so-gently (my eyes are welling up) and that's all you need. BEAUTIFUL
Reliability/Durability

I don't know how durable it is -- i have only had it for 6 months and i rub it with a diaper each night before i put it in its own queen-sized bed. Hasn't exactly been road tested yet.

if you are in the market for something of this price point - i.e. lakland joe osborn, pensa-suhr, mike lull, or fender custom shop - i strongly suggest you check one of these out.
