This is a follow up review to my original review in which i knocked the allparts stuff pretty bad. I got my replacement neck and it is far better than the original one. The truss rod is smooth, there arent really any noticeable finish flaws, there is a slight twist, but i think it is normal. (nothing to flip out about)

Sound : 7
It sounds very woody. Its quite quiet, I think necks with graphite reinforcement bars or steel bars sound a bit better and louder. Although it sounds fine

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The finish is quite nice. Poly on the fingerboard and the neck, the way i like it. The action is pretty decent. At first it was rattling all over the place and i was like "oh great". But then the laquer, which was on the frets, started falling off, and as it did the rattling went away almost completely. I have only found maybe two or three high/low frets. The action is a little bit high for my tastes, but still very playable. You would have to level the frets to get it real low.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Seems to be well built. Its very pretty. I cant understand how the first neck i got was soo jacked up, and this one is basically like 85% the quality of warmoth maybe 90% as good. Its quite nice and i am impressed a little bit, but not blown away.

Customer Support : 10
They sent me a real bad neck the first time, i think they may have tried to pull one over on me and sent me a "b stock" neck. They exchanged it no problem with fast shipping. overall highly recommended.

Overall Rating : 8
Again, this is quite a nice neck, but nothing that is going to blow you away (well maybe the looks will). It is capable of medium low action out of the box without much rattle. It IS very difficult to find a nut that fits these necks with the binding. I had to cut the binding at the nut with a dremel, which resulted in a sort of ugly installation, but functional. I think these necks should come with a nut, since if you want to fit one in there without remomving the binding, it will haveto be less than 1.5", maybe 1.4" wide.

This is a fender jazz replacement neck. It has a poly finish, blocks and binding and a skunk stripe

Sound : 8
It sounds fine. like a vintage neck without a bunch of metal and graphite in it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
This is where the problems start. This neck came with bubbles all in the finish, and some dirt under it, and a little bit of lint also, and a finger print on the headstock which was in the poly finish. All of this funk in the finish was on the fretboard, the rest of the finish was average. The neck came with very sloppily drilled tuner holes, there were chips all in the wood where the holes were drilled. The neck came with a maxed out truss rod. The neck also came slightly warped ( a little more relief on the treble side of the neck when sighting down the neck). Basically it was as bad as it could have possibly been: warped neck, broken truss, chips, finish flaws--so much for the made in japan myth. I sent the neck back and am currently waiting for a replacement, i will do a follow up review.

Reliability/Durability : 1
This neck would undoubtedly warp if used for an extended period of time. I also have a warmoth neck, whose quality exceeds that of the allparts neck by at least 5 fold (now that warmoth is a neck!--although the steel bars dampen volume a bit and i do not like the sound of it)

They are nice. I emailed them telling them the details and they said to send the neck back for reaplcement immediatly-they will not give me a refund, only an exchange. pitty for them, i have a feeling i am going to be returning the second and maybe the third one if i dont get an absolutely arrow straight neck with a truss rod that works properly. i mean its just a bass neck--its not frickin rocket science. we need to force these manufacturers to improve their QC, because if we keep buying junk they'll keep selling it to us.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I think, like most japanese fender made stuff (these are made in the fender japan factory), they are highly over-rated. Im not saying the japanese made stuff occasionally is not as good or better than american stuff, it probly is---but they are NOT sending it over here. I am starting to think they send blems to the american market. My geddy lee neck was exatcly the same-warped with a maxed out truss rod from the factory---i mean seriously if i was making crap like this and trying to sell it, i would end up feeling bad and giving it away for free!(this stuff is absolute junk IMO). Do yourself a favor, if you are considering an allparts neck, dont cheap out and dish out the extra cash for a warmoth neck.
