recently made im guessing around 2000 in korea. 22 frets 5 string laminated top in bright orange (flashy). two volume one tone two very quiet alvarez humbuckers (passive) alder body jazz style i guess rosewood neck with med-jumbo frets i think and a thin feel for a 5 string but then again, im coming from a huge neck 5 string squier.also this has a two-piece neck which scares away some buyers but its so much better than an ibanez bass i played which cost twice as much so.... got this with case thanks to Allan from Southern Music company in GA.

Sound : 10
i play mostly hard rock and metal but occasionally ill bust into classic rock and even some wierd stuff too. it suits those styles very well, a swipe of the tone knob turns it from aggressive and modern to smooth and jazzy. using this with a peavey mark lll head, peavey 3620 cab, and a digitech bp-8 effects processor. all of them work together perfectly and create a crystal clear sound. punchy when you want or silky for the other times. it can cover all bases. its good for finger and slap as well as pick. the strings are pefect for slap in fact. very nice. produces the sound that ive always wanted in a bass.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
action was very good. pickups were also very nicely adjusted as soon as i got it out of the box. nothing on this bass has an error. its close to perfection at a bargain price. i cant say enough good things about it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
this bass is rock solid while still remaining lightweight. theres no way i would try it but i think it can survive even the most energetic metal and hardcore players. the hardware is tank-like the finish is permanent, strap buttons are great, never had to adjust it. the only reason i would playt with a backup is to make sure that this one doesnt get damaged.

Customer Support : 2
ive asked the company several times for the info on this bass and all they gave me is "this product is discontinuted". well duh but tell me more. i had to get all my information from guys that used to own alvarez basses before. painful.

Overall Rating : 10
holy crap this thing is my dream bass. this is right now the only bass i will play with but i have played on pretty much all ibanez 4 and 5 strings, a fender standard 4 string p-bass, squier p-bass special V, gibson thunderbird bass, and a musicman stingray. of all of them i would have to pick the alvarez because of its value. not only is it one of the best basses you can buy for under 500 but its also extremely hard to find in mint condition. ebay has a couple maybe scratch and dents but thanks to Allan, i got this one of a kind bass mint condition. i recommend it to anyone looking for a bass. period.
