Purchased new on Ebay Germany in 2005 for 119 euro's shipping costs not included.Made in China..4 string bass.Solid alder body with a red
finish ,nice cool color.Maple neck with a satin finish,21 frets.Standard passive jazz pick-up configuration with 2 volume and one tone, they use 500 k/ohm pots wich is good , standard jazz bass wiring,no shielding in the control cavity.Standard fender style bridge that gets the job done.Standard fender style tuners wich look a lot like those Ibanez uses on their atk series.Fretwire is thin, the scale of the neck has more the dimensions of a precision bass instead that of a jazz bass. The bass came with an Allen wrench and a cable.

Classic jazz tone , good sound from both of the pick-ups .All the classic sounds are there,Bridge and neck pick up have both a nice tone ,well balanced.A bit noisy .On rehearsals ,played through an ampeg b2 it has a nice warm thump ,ideal for blues or jazz.Funky slap sounds are no problem .Played with a pick it's got this nice Rancid like tone.

I think the bass came straight from the factory with no set up at all.
The neck had to be adjusted and after a week of fiddling and readjusting the bass was set up properly. The pick ups are well mounted. There are no major flaws but still some minor ones :I replaced the input jack ,the original one was defectuous, the pots cracked a little, but that was easily fixed with some cleaning spray. The bass is solidly built. But if you look at the details there are some minor things like the white dots on the neck who are badly centered.I also shielded the control cavity to bring down the noise.

This bass will withstand live playing if you don't abuse her like a madman, but that goes for every instrument. The paint job maybe not topnotch but if you throw her around it will crack rapidly.Fretwire ,strapbuttons seem solid enough. After I setup the bass I didn't need to readjust the neck for a long time.I bought this one as a back up and it does its job well. For this ridiculous price you get a lot of bass.

I'm playing 20 years now, played on a lot of basses who cost ten times the price of the Aria but sometimes are not ten times better.I can't believe they can make basse for this price. But they do.I suggest you test some of this chinese stuff and buy the best one and upgrade it with aftermarket pick-ups and hardware. If aria would pay more attention to detail and shielding and use a real jazz bass like neck this would be a total winner.

Aria STB-series jazz bass clone. Solid gloss white with 2 Aria jazz-clone pickups. Same as on http://www.ariausa.com/series/stbjb/stbjb.html. volume/volume/tone controls, front routed passive electronics, bolt-on maple neck, Alder body (I *think*), rosewood fongerboad, non-pitched head, chrome hardware. Basically nothing more than a Jazz bass (although I've never really taken apart a jazz bass to find out the inner workings).

Has a nice tone, standard JB sorta sound. Good midrangy, growly bridge PU sound, nice full punchy slap sound from the neck PU. Tone control is very noisy, the pickups are fairly noisy unless turned to full or off. I can't really say much about the sound, it's pretty similar to a standard Jazz bass, but presumably not as good (again, i've never really experimented much with an original JB).
*However*, when slapping, the pickups have a tendency to pop loudly. This is unnoticable through a practice amp, but very much so when recording or using headphones. I can't figure out if it's because of the string hitting the open-pole pickups, or if the electronics are just crap. I also can't remember if it was like this when I bought it, but it's only a year old so it definitely shouldn't pop like this. Replacing the pickups would probably do it good, or covering the metal pole pieces?
All in all, a very good sound, but it's a bit noisy, and the popping problem is really irritating.

Bass was set up ok at factory. Pretty good strings, ditto pickup positions. Truss rod and bridge saddles adjust fine. The fret buzz is quite noticable through these electronics but it can be dialled out fairly easily with a good setup.
The physical pickups themselves are awful. I'm not sure what the original JB pickups are like, but I hope they're not like these. Basically it's a magnet, with a thin plastic casing - there is no height adjust because the springs are under the casing (or should I say, cover) and not the pickup. Therefore, unscrewing simply raises the cover without moving the pickups at all. Also, both the cases are now cracked because they are very thin and I've had to remove them on occasion. If you want to raise the pickups, you have to put some cardboard underneath them.
The G bridge saddle has a burr in it, so G strings are very easy to break at the bridge, especially if you pop and slap a lot.
The control pots aren't screwed in very tightly so if you turn the volume or tone too far, it just moves the pot round. No problem, just turn it the other way again.
The finish ain't great. Paint chips very easily, and dents are quite visible. A nitpicking point - the paint is very messy in the areas you can't see (electronics cavity, neck socket etc). Unimportant, but it would be a nice touch to see a well-sanded or well-painted cavity.
I'm being quite critical. Overall, it's pretty good, the pickups don't really need to be adjusted anyway, the paint gripe is minor. Just don't bang it too hard.

I doubt the finish would withstand constant gigging very well. Strap buttons seem ok, tuning pegs are fairly solid but rattle a lot with no strings on so maybe they'll wear away with time? The neck tends to need fairly regular adjustment but it's not too bad. Overall I'd trust it, I just think the condition would deteriorate fairly quickly, namely the paint. It's also a heavy bugger. Not to mention (again) the pickup popping problem.

I've been playing a year and also own an Aria fretless, but I'm a music store junkie and somewhat of a gearhead, so I'm constantly adjusting everything. If it were lost, I wouldn't mind another one but I'd definitely have a look around for other basses (although for the price, it's a good bass). I think its high points are the sound and slap action and feel, but the finish, quality control and noise/popping pickups really let it down.

It had 21 frets and 4 strings. There were two tone controls and a volume control. The neck was most probably some sort of cheap wood. The finish was pretty good on the jazz sunburst. The body style was obvoiusly a jazz bass.

The sound of this guitar was probably the best thing about it. It had a nice punchy sound which i like alot.I play punk rock (green day offspring sum 41) and metal (slipknot korn etc)I thought it a quite large variety of different sounds ie full bass sound very trebly or a mixture of both which is what i use.

The action on this guitar probably was the only thing along with the neck that made the guitar not its best. The action at the 1st few frets made a loud buzzing sound and it drowned everything out if it was going through an amp.

My bass is 1999 model made in Japan (i think!?!?). Fretted 4-string with 2 volume and 1 tone control. Alder body with laminated sunburst finish, Maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. 21 fret, 34" scale.
Stay's in tune, despite the cheap tuners. Quite heavy.

Wonderful warm sound for the price. I tried Fender Jazzes and it sounds very similar if played nearer the bridge, giving a pleasant brighter sound. I play many styles of music and it adapts very well, due to a great variety in sound when fiddling with the controls. Probably better for the studio because of it's weight. I've used it with Marshall, Torque, Warwick amps and it gives a good sound. Very quiet. Unless the volume selectors are in opposite positions.e.g. if one volume selector is up full and the other is right down then it makles quite a lot of noise. When both are in roughly the same posistion then it is very quiet.

This was a LONG time ago, but this bass was so solid I had to make mention of it anyway. It belonged to my ol' high school, but I had it in my bedroom more than I ever had girls in my bedroom. This is a dead-on copy of a higher-end Fender Jazz. Don't know how old it was or where it was made. Picture a beautiful sunburst Jazz bass with tortoise-shell pickguard, bound fretboard with block inlays, and you pretty much have it. The only variance from a real Fender (prolly for legal reasons) was that the pickups were secured with one Phillips-head screw at either end, rather than four (2 top/2 bottom). Body was one piece of wood and NOT laminated!! I recall that it weighed a good chunk, too - but back then I wasn't used to hanging a bass off my shoulder, so I could've been "paying dues" where shoulder pain was concerned.

It was real easy on the fingers. As mentioned, the finish was a beautiful tri-color sunburst. And it fit about as well as a Jazz bass would.

Although my high school band director promised me first crack at this wonderful bass if the school ever let it go, he sold it to another student several years after I graduated. If I ever found another, I would prolly drop whatever money was necessary to buy it. A rare find in the world of knock-off's.
