Basic Fender P-bass style bass. Vol & Tone controls, top load bridge, P-style pickup, & fender shaped headstock. The body is a 2 piece alder. Maple Neck with Maple fretboard. It has the typical elephant ear tuning keys.
I own a 1978 Fender Precision, and this bass is Identical to this, down to the headstock. The same woods, and same finishes. These basses are made of quality parts and woods. Blows away any Squier JV or NIJ Fender. This bass can keep up with my 78 Pbass, and not miss a note. Plus it costs way less.

Sound : 8
Mine has an EMG select in it right now. Its how I got it. The sound is not actually that bad. But I plan on putting a 77 P-bass pickup in it when I get the chance.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action is set to the way I like it. Which is between and medium and low string height. It plays like a dream. Just like my 78 P-bass.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
No clue yet. havent had it long enough.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Well this bass was manufactured somewhere in the mid-late 70's. So I think it might be out of warranty. Plus I do all my own guitar repairs so no need for customer support.

Overall Rating : 9
This is a great bass, I would rather own one of these than a Squier MIJ JV series, or a Fender Japan. If it had the Fender name on the headstock you would never know the difference. Has the fender style headstock too. I like vintage p-bass, and this one definetly does a good job of keeping up with the vintage real deal fenders.

78 japanese p-bass copy. ash body, maple neck, maple fingerboard, one split p-bass pickup, volume, tone control, natural finish originally, refinned lake placid blue. my other one which i just bought is 3 tone sunburst. both have chunky jazz bass style necks. hardshell case with the one i bought in 78 gig bag with the one i bought used in 2001.

Sound : 10
sounds like a maple neck p-bass. i have used different amps down the years [peavy, ampeg, gallien kreuger, hartke] i have also had several real fender p-basses. the arias are just as good if not better. i have always gotten rid of the fenders and kept the aria. nothing wrong with the fenders, just could get more money out of them when sold.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
both of these have very low action. i adjust the pickups to my taste. the fretwire is very hard. it hasnt worn much at all on either bass

Reliability/Durability : 10
i have used both of these live. the hardware is just as good as real fender stuff. these were lawsuit basses. fender sued the japanese companies be cause these were identical copies. the finish is and was very well done and durable. i have only had to adjust the truss rod 1 time since 78 on the one i bought new. i havent had the other one that long. i would not hesitate to gig with either one of these basses without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to contact or deal with the company. never had a problem with either bass. these basses were built at a time when the japanese were trying to show the world they could build instruments as good or better than the usa. given fenders quality issues in the 70's they were showing what they could do. cant remember how long the warranty was.

Overall Rating : 10
i have been playing since 78. this was my first bass. i would hate it very much if it were stolen, it is irreplaceable. i did buy another one recently. i love the neck shape, the way it plays and sounds. only thing i can grouse about is they are both a tad neck heavy. i bought the first one because i wanted a p-bass, but couldnt afford a real one. 78 aria p-bass copy [originally natural] lake placid blue, 78 aria p-bass copy 3 tone sunburst. i also have a red 84 rickenbacker 4003, a black 77 rickenbacker 4001, a 2000 g&l l-2000, a danelectro hodad bass, and a danelectro dc bass. hartke 3500 head, swr triad cabinet
