Made Early 2008, 21 frets, 4 strings, volume & tone selectors, built in ashton chromatic tuner, Cam with 15w amp, gig bag, strap, cable, picks and how to play DVD

The amp it came with is not very powerful, on "close to full volume", it buzzes and sometimes cuts out.

came in the bag in the box. Was quality checked before shipment. The man at the store tuned it on purchase

would never play live with it. Seems alright, it should last.

The store people gave me lots of information about it. The cable broke nearly a week after purchase, got a new 1 under warranty. 12 month warranty i think.

I bought it as my first bass. as it was a package. if it was stolen, i would get a different brand of starter pack. i compared it to the ibanez starter pack but as this 1 was cheaper, i purchased this 1. the only thing i wish was differnt was it had an extra string and a different body design

4 string bass
volume and tone knobs
Got it as my first bass in their starter pack (which includes a 15w amp, gig bag, extra strings, some dodgy picks, a learn to play CDROM) for $400 aussie

It sounds ok for a cheap bass. It does have a bit of buzz, but the tone is ok. I'm about to move up in the world though.

Got the whole pack by courier, took it out of the box and learnt how to tune a bass... Bridge was so high even I knew as a day-1er it shouldn't be there. Neck was bent the wrong way. If you get one of these find someone who knows what they are doing to set it up for you (assuming it will be your 1st bass...)

I've been playing it now for 18 months. It has survived a move, a couple of flights, and being bashed around by me. I haven't gigged with it. The output jack coming a bit loose, the knobs move around a little, and one of the pickups moves up and down around in the body if you push on it. I don't think it would last much longer. As far as the rest of the pack goes, the gig bag desintegrated, but the tuner I got extra (no extra cost) still goes great guns.

Never dealt with them

I will not be going back to Ashton again... not because they are absolutly horrible but because it is a starter bass. I'd suggest getting this to start and see if it gathers dust or not, if not upgrade and if so sell it to another beginner and at least you haven't blown too much moolah

I think it was made in Vietnam or Korea, has a bolt-on 20 fret full-scale maple neck, 4 strings, rosewood fingerboard, and a rosewood downsized body with a black finish. Has 2 AP pickups and two knobs for volume and tone control. Chrome hardware. I bought it in mid 2005 but I don't know when it was made. Looks like your average modern bass. Came with soft case, lead, 15w amp and picks for AU$400. No special features here.

I play funk/slap and it suits funk fairly decently, but with slap just isn't good enough. I use it with an Ashton 15w amp, which is a pretty terrible amp. I also have a Digitec Bass Synth Wah effect and it sounds good with the bass. Has a pretty dull sound, even on full treble, so not much variety. The sound is average but it's all you would expect from a low-range bass.

Factory settings had a high action, but was easily fixed and it now has a nice low action with no buzzing. The neck is suprisingly fast considering that its a pretty mediocre bass. The day I got it the volume knob fell off and now its loose, which is quite annoying. Came with a extra pair of Ashton brand strings and they rusted within a week or so after I put them on. The neck is also misaligned. And it has a pretty brittle finish which quite easily chips off. Strap button fell off and went missing so I bought a new one.

Finish isn't very sturdy but should last a decent while, seeing as I haven't had it for many years. Hardware still shiny, no signs of rust yet. Electronics are abysmal, I had to solder a wire back onto the pick up only a few months after purchase, and have yet to solder on another disconnected wire. This bass isn't exactly reliable, and seems to be the type of bass you would only use as an absolute backup.

Haven't dealt with them yet, but I think I should.

I've been playing for a year, but have experience of someone who has played for longer because I caught up easily due to playing guitar for 6 years. A mediocre bass that I can only recommend to beginners, only if there aren't any other beginner basses avaliable. My fav feature is the semi-fast neck and nice low action. If it was stolen or lost, I wouldn't buy it again.
