made late 90's. the ampeg baby bass was reissued by Azola between 1997 and 1999. made in California by Azola. This is a 4 string, sunburst finish. made out of fiberglass. It has the traditional magnetic pick ups and it has a piezo pick up on the brdige. it has a volume, blender pick up and tone knobs. cleverly manufactured. if you want to bypass the active electronics, just pull on the volume knob and you have a completely passive instrument. As the traditional ampeg baby bass its a 3/4 scale.maple bridge for improved sustain. This beauty comes with a gig bag.

out of this world sound! This bass kicks ass. in addition to the classic punchy percusive sound you can also dial in the piezo pick up to get a mean double bass sound. It truly is a masterpiece. It really covers any type of music with this addition which its perfect for me as I do straight Latin as well as Jazz sessions. No noise whatsoever.the quality of craftmanship its superb. Azola basses are known to have an excellent built. the bass feels solid in your hands.and it sounds amazing through any amp or stratigh to the mixing board. I truly cannot say there is a flaw on this bass. simply perfect for me.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The neck can be tilted to lower or increase the string heights to your likings. all you need is an Allen key. The pick ups are perfectly balanced, you don't need to make any adjustments on the volume if you want to change the pick ups.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have played the original ampeg BB4 and the Azola baby basses and this ampeg reissue feels like it will last for ever.Very well built. In a way I can compare it to A German type of quality. built like a tank , not too heavy.(18 lbs.)

Customer Support : 10
The best there is out there. Jill will answer any questions you might have in a very friendly matter. These are great people.

I have been playing Azola basses for about 6 years, I used to own a Bug bass II which I sold. and now the ampeg reissue, and this is the best upright electric I have ever owned. I also play a warwick thumb bass B.O. 6 string with the wide neck version. I have been playing bass for about 15 Years. and I found my dream basses. Very happy with both instruments.I have previously owned. BSX, Messenger,Azola in the upright dept. and Tobias,Alembics, Yamaha's,Peavey,Warwick in the electric section.
