Features : 8
Fretless, 36in (super-long scale) maple neck, ash body, 4-string, but a 5-string is available as well. Fingerboard is maple/ebony. Gotoh machine head and Bacchus P-Special (x2) pick-ups. Bridge is a Bacchus UpRight Bridge (URB). It's an upright style arched fingerboard with upright strings on a horizontal electric bass. Body is slim and arched outward, and cut well away from the fingerboard for easy access. Comes in 3 colors: Natural, Brown and Black.

Sound : 10
Suits a jazz style quite well. Anything good for upright or fretless is great on this bass. Has a warm sound, as do most uprights or fretlesses with flatwound strings. The bass is a good portable upright, or a better-than-fretless fretless bass. A neat idea, and easy to play for those used to acoustic bass or cello. I use it with a Hartze 120 Kickback amp. Sound is great. One minus is you can't do slap very well, but I shouldn't have to tell you that.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Everything was in order from the factory. I made minor adjustments to the pickups and lowered the bridge slightly for the low string. The rest was great.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I haven't had it very long, but it's been very nice so far. I wouldn't bring it on a gig with no backup only because of it's limited style (no slap) unless the gig was all jazz standards, etc. No problems with the hardware or strap buttons at all, and I haven't adjusted the neck yet.

Customer Support : 6
Haven't tried to repair it.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing bass for almost 14 years now. I have a Yamaha fretless 4-str, an Ibanez Ergodyne 4-str fretted, and a Yamaha 5-str as well. Amps are the Hartze mentioned above and two small practice amps, one Peavey and one Yamaha. I have also played cello for about 18 years now, and upright bass for about 4. What I love is that this bass allows me to use my familiarity with the upright style fingerboard to play on the pitch, unlike a regular fretless. There are no other basses I know of like this one.
