Kit included 1x8 amp, P-bass knockoff, cable, picks, etc

Amp sounds good, but speaker couldn't really handle the sounds that the EQ controls made. Headphone out sounded really good. Amp sounded a lot like an old Ampeg when I recorded with it.

Bass was just short of okay. Unknown body wood (most likely plywood or basswood). Rosewood fingerboard, maple neck. Precision bass style, but it looked quite a bit different. You couldn't put a real Fender pickguard on it.

Sound : 4
Very bright, cutting treble tone. Dull bass tone. I don't normally use the amp it came with, I just use a Yamaha B100 1x15 amp. Not much variety in tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
Setup was horrible. Action was high intonation wasn't great, and the strings it came with it weren't lovely either. A professional setup and a set of Ernie Ball slinkies helped that a lot. I still don't like the neck. The frets are definitely jumbo, and that seems to be it's downfall.

Reliability/Durability : 7
It's durable all right. The tuning machines were very good. It has held up to a lot of abuse from me, it being my first bass.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have not had to deal with Behringer at all.

Overall Rating : 6
It's been a fine bass to work with so far. I've had it for several years, I've banged it up, I've headbanged with it, and it's only been faithful. Is it a Fender? No. Is it a great bass to start on? Absolutely!

The package has everything you need to start playing. The bass, amp, strap, cable, picks, and a manual.

The guitar is a copy of P-bass. I have it for a year now. Hardware is okay. Pick-ups are very responsive and the neck is smooth though its warped. I took it to the shop and they said there's nothing they can do to fix it. Its just way too tight they say.

The amp is okay for practicing on your own. Has 4 band EQ, CD input and headphone out. It distorts when the volume exceeds 5 and the low frequency is on 3. It was horrible. But it did fine as long as i'm practicing alone.

The cable sucks. It died on me after a few hours of use. Picks are light but they were nice. They shattered after a year of use. The strap broke on me after a weeks use. What the hell...its cheaply made. It keeps sliding off. Good thing i don't move around so much when on stage.

Sound : 9
I play lots of genres and the bass guitar did good. After all, its a copy of P-Bass and is flexible as one. It did well on many genres I played. Mostly rock and jazz. The pick-up is loud and responsive... and quite punchy with a good amp. After all, the signal processing makes a low end bass sound good.

The finish is good. Only comes in black but its good.
I accidentally banged this bass while putting it down the floor and the paint chipped off. I refinished it with acrylic paint and it was good as new. So far it was the only damage done to it.

Reliability/Durability : 4
The hardware is good enough for me... i think.

The strap buttons did get loose. I put some wood filler in them and they're sturdy as before.

The neck was warped when it was given to me (it was a gift actually). And it was brand new! I did sent it to a shop but they said that the truss rod was stuck and there's nothing they can do.

The neck's tension affected my playing. The strings were high but when I lower them, they buzz. I cannot do anything about it since I can't afford to buy another bass.

I wished they gave me an Ibanez jumpstart bass instead of this one. Still I got to live with it. 2 more years and i can have a job and buy a better bass.

The customer support was friendly but they didn't replace it or even try to repair the neck i've been fussing about. What's the point of warranty if they're like that?

Overall Rating : 4
I had this bass for a few years now and its still alive. I wished the godparents who gave me this guitar a gift asked me what i like or they could have just gave me the money to buy a better one...like an Ibanez jumpstart bass or Epiphone EB-0..

This was the bass pack from Behringer, which included a bass, a small practice amp, a gig back, a strap, and a cable.

The accessories are IMO "acceptable." But who really cares about them? The amp that comes with is nothing special--it's a 15 Watt 8" speaker practice amp that would be totally lost if you were playing with a drummer but that's not why you buy practice amps. Honestly I often play unamplified because I live in an apartment and don't want my neighbors to hate me.... I suspect this amp would work if I were playing with a few friends at a low volume but beyond that, it would be useless.

The gold in this pack is the instrument. I don't know where the bass was made. Probably somewhere cheap but the workmanship is just fine, which just goes to show that it's the specs that matter. It's a no-frills P-bass copy, solid black with a nice satin finish rosewood fretboard neck that says "Behringer" on the headstock. The hardware seems decent enough. I'm sure it's a plywood body but everything's in the right place and it's got a nice resonance to it, very responsive.

Musically I'm from a mostly rock background, ranging from folk stuff (Richard Thompson especially), through various "classic" rock, to prog. (Let's just say "crimfan" refers to King Crimson not the University of Alabama. :) I played bass about 20 years ago, quickly dropped it for guitar and recently decided to pick up a bass for a change. The price on this one was a nice way to find out if I was really serious.

I've only plugged it into the amp that came with it. The sound is pretty P-bassy and on the bright end of that, but that's the "industry standard" so nothing wrong there. It's got a nice resonance and slapping is no problem. You can really feel the instrument moving, even unamplified. (I suspect I lucked out and got a really good one.)

I needed to take the bass in to a former bandmate of mine who does guitar work for a living. There was a bit of fret sprout, backbow and a little action and pickup adjustment to put a farty sounding E string back in its place. It took him about 10 minutes to fix it up and he said for a cheapo bass he thought it was reasonably well set up--he'd seen worse on instruments costing way more.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Everything seems solid for what I paid. The tuning machines seem to be the worst item on the instrument but they work.

No clue.

I've played for about twenty years, mostly acoustic guitar but a reasonable amount of electric guitar too. I'm a fan of mid-price point "working man's" gear. My electric is an '80s G&L, my acoustic is an '80s Tak, and my classical is a La Patrie. None of it is "vintage" and all have been customized, worked over, etc., to be the way I want it. I buy gear with the intention of keeping it forever though I did chew through a fair number of electric guitars until I settled on the G&L. FX come from Tech 21 (love that Tech 21 stuff!!!!), Boss, Morley, etc. I've got an old Mesa/Boogie tube amp but plan on switching to Tech 21 if I do electric live again. In other words, I'm not a big spender but instead like solid gear that just works when you turn the switch.

I was looking to pick up a bass. Normally I would have picked up something like a Peavey Grind or one of the Mexi-Fenders and if I were playing bass live I would most definitely do so. But to dip my toes into bass I didn't want to sink $500, so the bass pack seemed like a good idea. I've not at all been disappointed with my choice. It's pretty hard to argue with $140 for a playable instrument. The rest of the stuff I could take or leave but the instrument is the sort of thing that would make a nice addition to a home studio or as a backup.

For someone wanting to check out bass, I would definitely recommend this, especially when buying it from AMS.
