String thru body, active electronics.Wood finish. The one downer is its heavy as hell.I bought this bass in 2003,hopefully Brice(Rondo)has made some chages since then in that area.Other than that,it's a primary recording instrument for me.I play it thru an Ampeg head and cab.

Sound : 10
I love this bass.Ive played about every style with it, from simple blues to extreme math-metal.I've gotten nothing but compliments on the bass sound, tone, and quality.Maybe I've worked with naive musicans over the years,I highly doubt it,but they all express that they think this bass is high end are are really surprised when I tell them what the bass really cost.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Overall the bass is flawless.I've had to set it up myself a few times but as stated earlier Ive played a wide variety of music on this bass the last 6 plus years.SO,really set-up is dependent on tuning and string guage I used.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've not had one single problem with this bass.I have used this bass solely as my go to bass when others have failed me.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 10
I love this bass.I just bought its 5 string 'little brother' recently and look forward to playing it.

Don't know what year this bass was made, but was made in Korea. It's a fretted 6 string, and I don't know, or care about solid or laminate top, heck, it was a 150.00 guitar! The active/passive switch doesn't really do a lot, neither do the two bottom controls. The finish is flat black quilted, and it's a smooth finish, but very thin, again, who cares I didn't buy it to look at and I can paint it if need be. It's a string through body and the strings seem to me to be spaced quite well. I was worried about the size of the neck since it's my first 6er, but it's not bad at all. doesn't really bother me except I tend to forget that the top string is on top of what used to be the top string for me... (I played a four string) and that's embarrassing. Overallthe features are okay.

I really like the way it sounded right out of the box. It suites my style quite well, (rock, country, Gospel) and sounds good. I bought a Behringer BXL3000 amp, and I'm not sure if the amp is too small or the pickups are not that great, but something is not just right. It doesn't affect my playing, I just know it could be much louder. It's not too noisy, but there's a bit of noise from the strings and frets, probably needs some adjustments. The bass does sound terrific though, especially for the money. Not even some really expensive basses sound as good, and this one could still have some parts replaced with super good ones and still be a cheap bass, and probably sound even better. Overall, I would certailny not pay the price of higher basses for the difference that they might offer.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Everything seems okay here. Could use a little tweeking, but doesn't have to have it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I think this bass will be just as sturdy, reliable, durable, solid and dependable as it's much pricier rivals.

I've been playing for over 15 years. I've actually (believe it or not) never owned another bass. My dad sang in a group and I used to play bass for them after their bass player quit. When the band stopped singing I just inherited the bass so to speak... until they got back together ten years later! Then they took the old fender four string and the heck of a fender amp I had and traded it in for all new. So I then played a fender Squire that the Church I go to got me and kinda just got bored of the four string, So I bought this one. I like this Brice though, as well as any bass I've ever played, and I've played a few in fifteen + years. I don't think you could ask for a better value than this, and I like to save money. My thinking is that if it sounds good and plays good, I could buy one every 5 years if need be and still come out cheaper than buying a 2500.00 six string.
The ONLY things I wish it had is a gloss finish with no quilting and some good strings!

I'd give this bass a ten straight across the board because it truly deserves it, but I feel a nine best describes my experience with this bass. But it deserves a ten for just being cheap, having a great sound and being playable right out of the box.

Amber 6-string bass bought from Rhondo music (e-bay) in 2003 on a whimm because I wanted to give 6-string a try. Beautiful but shallow top laminate piece, very impressive straight out of the box. The "gold" hardware is pretty cheesey if you ask me and has not really held up very well, showing it's cheap side after only a year. I own 13 basses so this bass doesn't get daily wear and it still is showing signs of it's korean made heritage. 2 Tone and blend and volume knob. 2 soap bar pick-ups, solidly built, nice neck shape and pleasant feel. Neck shape and finish are the basses greatest selling points. My bass hass passive pick-ups but I now see they sell the same bass with actives (push/pull passive). Generic strap locks, tuners, and bridge but all decent quality just nothing to get excited about. Overall this bass looks great and presents well on stage.

Ok now granted this bass was $225 on e-bay, and Korean made, yatta yatta but man am I impressed with the tone I can get out of this thing. I generally play Stingrays and I play allot of funk music - tone is everything to me and this bass does not dissappoint. I have been running this bass into a Behringer Bass V-amp Pro, into a 500 watt Carvin head powering a 4x10 Carvin cab. I get a very rich full tone and it is fairly easy to change up to an aggressive bit when I want to get slap happy. The bridge pick-up has more tone possibilities then the neck seems too but that could just be my style of play. I have little or no noise concerns and that's a good thing when using the Behringer Bass V-amp! I do feel this bass is studio worthy and have used it on a few recording dates but mostly I use it for live shows.

The factory set up was crap. The action was way too high and I felt like I was battling with the bass out of the box. The G string buzzed awful and the high B was thin and way too snappy to be of any use. I replaced the strings with better guage and with a bit of figgiting with the bridge and the getting it set more to my taste was all it needed to get me smiling. Rhondo music packaged it well and the finish was great, but like I said before the "gold" hardware oxidized way too fast and that didn't impress me but then again that's cheap enough to replace. The pick-ups were well installed and despiting being some cheap Korean no-name they look and sound awesome. I was blown away by the top laminate layer but upon further review this is the THINNEST piece of wood and that was a big dissappointment - however - the rest of the bass is beautiful and the amber stain is pretty impressive for a $225 bass!

Reliability/Durability : 7
I have gigged plenty with this bass but I generally use several basses per gig so I have never relied exclusively on it. I see no reason to not trust it though. I don't like the hardware - the bridge design is ok but I will replace it sooner than later with something which will hold it's color better if nothing else The tuners are fine and have not oxidized - they hold tune well and I have no reason to be upset with them. The pots and knobs are as cheap or worse then the bridge and they'll get replaced. The strap buttons are well installed. I have not had to adjust the bass since my initiall set up and it has been a solid contributor to my gig circuit since I bought it. I gave it a 7 here mostly because of the cheap "gold" hardware.

Customer Support : 10
Rhondo music was awesome - quickly answered several questions including info on Brice as a company and set-up concerns I had. Shipped very quickly and very well packaged. I would certainly buy from Rhondo music again but they don't make the bass just sell it. I have not dealt with Brice directly so I have no opinion of them. I have no warranty that I am aware of at this point but it's a bass not a car so...what warranty do you really need or car about on a $225 bass...

Bottom line is if this thing was stolen or lost I would actually buy another - I love this bass (I call her bertha) and she kills live. I play allot and I have 13 basses but she still gets grabbed more times than not for a gig or as a studio back-up. Tone is the best selling feature to this bass, which is important me more so then what the bass looks like - and while I think this bass looks awesome it sounds better than it looks. I am not one to care where or who makes a bass so I was not in the least bothered by the Korean aspect of this bass but I have no illusions either it is a "cheap" bass - you don't have to worry with it but at close inspection it shows it's cost. If your up-tight about your insturments and need a better overall quality bass I highly recommend the Carvin line, which also has allot of custom options, but if you just want a reliable 6-string that won't make you regret parting with a few hundred bucks this is the bass for you. It won't replace my Musicman Stingray obsession but...it's a decent bass certainly for the price

I bought this Brice 6 string of ebay in April of 2002. Made in Korea, but of excellent quality fo the price. 24 fret passive electronics similar in styling to an ibanez but with gold hardware. I would have prefered a 35" scale instead of a 34", but it's okay.

Sound : 9
I use it to play classic rock, country, and jazz. it seems to work very well for these styles of music. I am using it with a Crate BX-100 amp and it seems to sound all right.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action was set up extremely well considering the price and being from Korea. I've played basses that cost 3 times as much as this one and they weren't even close. The finish is a quilt top that is red and looks extrodinary.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have found this bass to be very dependable. I have played probably a hundred gigs with it and never brought a back up. I have had it almost a year and the finish seems to be lasting very well.

I bought this off of ebay from rondo music and they shipped it very promptly with good packaging
