This was a kit purchased in 2004. Five string, active pickups, HB2 humbucker at the bridge, J99 single coil at the neck, string through body, ash body. It has a volume knob, blend, low, high, and mid cut/boost, and a coil-cut for the HB2.

The sounds are great. The HB2 gives a fat, in-your-face punch, the J99 gives a hollow growly sound, and the two together give a very full, balanced bass sound.

This doesn't really apply, as the bass was a kit, but all the pieces fit very well. The instructions for finishing and assembling the kit were good enough for me, and I had never done this before. I have been setting up my own basses for years, and the setup was very easy on this. The action is as low as I like it (low), and the bass plays like a dream. The string ferrules were a little hard to get in place, and they still stick out just a hair, but I do not notice any problems because of it.

This is an awesome bass, especially for the price. I had a blast assembling it, and have been playing it for about six months now, and love it as much if not more than when I first finished it. You could spend twice as much or more for less bass. I highly recommend.
The only problem I have is now I want a fretless one too!
