Sounds fiarly good to me, the low end does get a bit muddy. Slaps and pops come out fine. I find I get a little bit of ground hum when I adjust the level of the individual pickups.

I like the neck it thin and comfortable, The action is good even on the low B, theres very little to no fret noise. The tuning pegs are quite good and seem to hold tune well.

The serial no has a lot of 3 s in it so I gather it was made in 2003. I purchased it from a second hand shop here in NZ (Lord of the Rings territory) for NZ$250. It came with a hard case. I wondered what it would be like to have a 5 string with a high B instead of a low one (I play guitar as well in my little jazz band). I fitted a standard set of stainless 105-45 and added a single 35 for the B. The tone is so much more alive which I suspect is the result of new strings and higher pitch. It's a 24 fret from Indonesia. I am guessing that the top has to be Agathis. Pickups are both passive J. The input jack seems to work well; this has not been my experience with oriental enclosed inputs (particularly Ibanez). I have learnt from the other write-ups that the nut is probably graphite.
I played it today with my pupils (the school band is short of one bass player currently, so I fill in). The extra string reduced hand travel for me, and gave room to move for improv.
I am surprised by the high quality of this second hand machine. I have not touched the neck, the slots are about right. Intonation needed a small adjustment. I suspect the bridge is useful in producing the healthy sound; I can see that being passive would reduce the bottom end for low B users. I have owned several basses (repro '63 P was a favourite, but sold when I 'gave up' the bass; a Hohner headless was next, a beatle bass, an 'orrible Morris, thena chinese J bass with Dimarzio vintage). Next to that lovely P bass, this is quite OK thankyou. Now I want to get the best out of it.

Factory? that was a while ago. I changed the strings, increased the height, and adjusted the intonation. oh yes one other thing. It was a trifle noisy, so i checked inside the cavity. It was painted in that very clever stuff. Putting a meter across this paint revealed not all of the material was conducting, so I removed the pots and applied adhesive aluminium tape. Pretty good!

This bass was my first bass. For my type of playing back then, it did it's job. But now that i play more viciously and aggressive, the bass is having problems not to make those churning noises from the frets vs strings.
I am using it with some Ibanez effect pedals and a Roland 250 watt amp.
The bass can be anything from noisy to quiet. It's just a matter of what settings you use on the amp. On clear, straight-through sound, the bass sounds warm and cosy. The pickups makes the bass sound more expensive than it actually is.

When i first got the bass. It was brand new. So it was all shiny and good looking.
But as the time went on, the bass became victim for severe scratches. I think Cort could have chosen another form of paint. Maybe some heavy duty clear paint to go over the transparent painting or something.
The control knobs tended to fall off over nothing. I solved the problem by wrapping pieces of a bus ticket around the inner knob, and placing and forcing the outer knob over that. Now they fit like a glove.
The wood is pretty good. I like heavy basses with a low balancepoint so that the head always stays upwards on me.
But one thing i don't like about this bass, is the action slogan. This is NOT an action bass by my opinion. If I start playing aggressively and fast, I get distracted by the churning noises from the strings hitting the frets. I've tried to adjust the neck to fix the problem. And it worked to some degree. But still, I don't think it deserves the name as an action bass. But generally i would give it some credit in this category.

The bass i reliable in any ways of playing. Anything from half-asleep playing with headphones and a pocket amp in bed, to playing a gig at nightclubs. Still, i don't use it as often when i'm playing gigs anymore. I have my Ibanez K5 or Ibanez Artcore for that. But i tend to bring my Action Bass with my as "sidearm" just in case one of my primary basses fail.
The finish is thin and it wears off easy.
The bass is like a pet. It's loyal to it's owner. And has never failed on me, other than churning noises (as mentioned above)

I've been playing for 5 years now. I have a home made bass with a squier neck and a body made of oak. Painted blue, with an outer layer of clear paint. Polished. I got the help of a nearby carpenter to handle the woodwork.
If my Action Bass was stolen i would probably buy another one because it was my first bass model.
I chosed the bass because i liked playing on it when i bought my first gear. It was easy, it looked cool and it was heavy.
Real turn on:
The good sound when played funky. Like slaping
Turn on:
Looks good
Polished metal parts
Easy to play
Heavy and firm
Reliable
Turn off:
Churning noises when played aggressively
Loose knobs. I had to fix it myself.
Easy scratched

Features have already been listed so yeah. I find the knobs a little weird though--the change in sound doesn't really seem to follow a pattern. Still I can find all the sounds I want in there eventually.
Mine's got a satin finish. It's sort of red with a nice wood grain. Looks great.
The thin neck really is nice. It's very easy to play.

I play most popular stuff like rock, blues, punk, etc. and I love the sound of this bass. Very warm and everything comes out clear, like if you play two notes or two harmonics together you can hear it all separately. It isn't all that versatile for tone, but my amp takes care of that.
It can buzz a little when the bridge pickup isn't up enough, but it's hardly noticeable. Other than that there's no noise.

It all seems good to me. There's one spot where the fretboard didn't quite fit onto the neck right, but that's like one inch long and no big deal. The finish is even unless I look really hard for flaws.

Cosmetically it seems durable--I've bumped it a few times and there was no damage.

I've been playing for maybe a year and guitar for 3. If I lost this, I would buy another one unless I couldn't find one or had a lot more money. It's got awesome tone and I don't think I could find anything else in this price range that sounds as good. It's also really nice looking. I played a 5-string J-Bass at the store into my amp and I like my Cort way better. Other than the cosmetic flaw on the neck there's nothing I don't like about this bass.

24 frets, 2 volume + 1 tone, 2 passive Mighty Mite single-coil pickups, agathis body. The neck is thin for a five string, both in width and girth(it's thinner and faster then my 5-string Fender Jazz). I'm satisfied with the features for the price. It's very light BTW, light enough that I can just use a standard guitar strap without it hurting my shoulder.

The sound of this bass is surprising good. After reading a couple reviews which said the pickups were weak, I wasn't expecting much, but after playing it, it has plenty of output and a good punchy sound. The open B is clear and defined. It has more output and a better sound then my Mexican Fender Jazz. It buzzes if I'm not touching anything metal on the bass, but that's to be expected(my Jazz does the same thing).

I originally bought this as a gift, but ended up using it as a backup. I'm surprised at how well it plays and sounds. Like I mentioned before, it is quite a bit better then my Mexican Fender Jazz, both in sound and playability. I've played a number of cheaper basses, and this one is definatley the best under $400. I would have no problem using this as my main bass to play live. I got a great deal on this bass($75), but I would have no problem paying the street price(~$200).

I am very pleased with the range of tones available from this guitar. I play everthing from country, to gospel, to rock, and it does great. It is very quiet on all settings. The sounds available are warm and full, or can be bright and punchy. It is a great stage guitar, especially when you think about carrying it around and it possibly being damaged. Unlike a vintage, or high dollar instrument, not only does it sound great, it can be replaced at a reasonable price.

As I received the bass the action was incredibly easy to the touch, with little or no string buzz. The neck was straight and intonation was dead on.
I did have a few cosmetic issues. There was a scratch on the back of the neck, and also a dab of glue that was left on the back of the neck. My dealer offered to replace the guitar, but I liked the feel so much that I opted to take so very fine grit emery cloth and touch up the neck. Both places were corrected easily, and I am perfectly happy with the neck now.
There was a couple of places where I had to polish off some overspray on the guitar, but all in all, from a few feet away this was a killer looking guitar for any price.

I haven't used the bass a lot, but I would think that it will hold up well. The input jack is a top of the line jack, the bass looks and feels solid, the strap buttons are great. I would definitely trust this bass as my main instrument w/o a backup.

I have been playing for over 25 years, and have owned top of the line, American made basses. I currently own two basses, two electrics, an electric-acoustic, a twelve string, a electric-classical, and other non-guitar type instruments. I've played in many bands over the years.
This bass has more than met my expectations. I bought it as an inexpensive way to have a bass to leave on the stand next to my piano. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised to gain an instrument that has killer looks and sounds, and could take the rigors of the road! Cosmetically, it could have been a little more perfect from the factory, but given the price point, I am more than satisfied with its appearance and quality. I would have no problem putting this bass up side my friends Yamaha and Carvin basses which he paid around $800 each for. As a matter of fact, I got him to try it out, and he commented that he liked the way it played better than he did his own guitars!
I highly recommend this instrument.

i like the features, like the 24 frets instead of 22, and the neck is actually pretty good for fast playing. other than that, this bass sucks. it cant handle lower tunings (G C G C F, F# B F# B E)even in standard tuning, the low end is muddy. this is because the pick ups are cheap, and shouldnt be put on production run basses.

Fairly new model made in the Middle East. Has 24 frets which is an advantage to any bass, fretted five string. It has two volume which is better than blend and single volume. It gives you more versatility and a tone knob which is very sensitive to every 1/10 of a turn. It has an angled p/j style pickup and a standard angle p/j style right below. Both are mighty mite which sound active but are simply very good sounding passive pick-ups. The body is agathis which is the same as the high dollar Ibanez SR and GSR and lightweight. The finish I personally have is a transparent Red very beautiful. It has its own body style which resembles a jazz style but yet a style of its own, smaller. The bridge is plain but thick which increases sustain and other string vibration. I dont know about the tuner type but its the same ibanez and fender squier pro tone 5 series uses. The neck is medium and is easy to play. A very thick padded gigbag was included.

It suits Rock, Jazz, and electric bues which i all play and it suits them very well. I have this beauty hooked up to a carvin R1000 and carvin 410T and it just blows me away. Excellent mid punch, and full accurate deep bass sound. It is good for stage and recording. Simply amazing sound for the price.

Were about to find out if it can stand up to the abuse. We have alot of friends and fans who like to see us play so were always practicing. The hardware seems strong. I always de-tune after i play so the tuners foregoe extensive abuse cause we play alot which means more frequent tuning. As far as i know they feel the same as the day i got it. The finish is thick and strong and only gets dirty. I think it will be classic. Of course i had to replace the strap buttons for locking straps. I will use this bass and this bass only for our gigs and practices.

I have been playing bass for 2 years and have been all over playing different basses from different music stores becuase im picky. I have owned ibanez: soundgear 405, Ergodyne edb605, Fender: Squier ProTone 5 string which is discontinued, Precision 4 string, and squier precision 4 string which had an additional p/j pickup. This bass has more than i had immagined before i bought it. Ive played a 2400 dollar warwick and this does better. More tone, unbeleivable. I love everything about it. I wanted at first to switch to active pickups but i really dont think it would be necesary. If i lost it or dropped it off a 5 story building i would replace it with the same bass, different color though.
