Mine is a second hand CORT C5, made in Korea. 24 frets, 5 strings, nickel or gray color, basswood body, medium frets. 4 knobs; Master Volume, Balancer, Bass and Treble. Active electronics, soapbar pick ups. Fortress bridge which delivers an enhanced sustain. The sound is astounding, considering the 2 band EQ,i like the overall looks and feel of the neck.MY BEST BASS SO FAR, since IBANEZ SR305DX.

It perfectly suits my music repertoire. Since we are a government band performing almost any kind of audience, doing covers to almost all kinds of musical genre. I dont use effects but it goes so well with my Fender BXR 200 combo amp.No noise. It produces a Rich/Full sound and also excellent for slapping. I like the C5 very much, punchy and have good attack. The only thing i dont like is the fret, its 67mm maybe, better if its a little bit wider say, 74 or 76mm

I really cant tell how well the bass was set up at the factory since i bought it from a friend. So far it did not contain any flaws. The only problem ive encountered is that, i find the Fortress bridge a little bit difficult to adjust compared to the usual bridge of most basses. Anyway, the difficulty is way below as to the fine points C5 delivers to a bass player.

ive owned this bass for almost 2 months now, ive never encountered any problems so far, ive played every gig without a back up, except with an extra alkaline battery on hand.

i am totally satisfied with the sound it makes. Its far better than my previous IBANEZ SR305DX. the ergominics is also oustanding. Since i slap most of the time, i wish that it had a wider neck, kinda neck of a fender jazz 5 strings. by the way, im ARTART of TAGUM CITY BAND, TAGUM CITY, PHILIPPINES,CORT BASSES are not commonly available here, im very much lucky to own one.if it were lost, i would definitely buy a CORT BASS C5, its worth the price!!!!!!

My bass is as described previously except it is a cherry/wine colour with a nice satin finish. Came with a hard case which looks great but is a poorly finished when examined closely.
Neck is slightly wider than I'm used to but I'm getting comfortable with it.

This bass produces a tremendous range of sounds from deep thump to bright highs - something for every situation. Took me a while to figure out what each control was for but now I can change the sound with ease.

Actions wasa set too low when I got it. The adjustment was a bit odd to figure out. The intonation was bang on though.

Seems very solid - not gigged hard enough yet to judge fully.

Unlike the previous reviewer I got this from Musiciansfriend and found them to be excellent. I live in Ireland so I was a bit worried about shipping but it arrived safe and sound and on time.

This is a five string, basswood body, fortress bridge, 2 mighty-might soapbars with active eq, bolt-on 35" scale neck, rosewood finger board (offset mop inlays that are quite atractive), 2 volume controls and bass and treble controls. The frets are thick wire, but not oversize. The finish is beautiful black, but I've played the satin wood finish and its much prettier! It's all good.

I play slap bass and this unit is just the deal, especially for that price. I was worried at first because I hate soapbars. When I first played it I had everything up on full. It had good fat growl. I then turned down the back pick up and rolled the bass off half way and started slapping. It barked at me. I barked back. We howled at the moon.
NO noise. MUCH variety of sound. A little roll of the pot sends you a long way on this baby. I think it has to do with the active eq. Just switching between pick ups will give you 40 diferent sounds. I am very pleased.

Anybody who rates a bass on how it was set up at the factory ought to be tied down and pissed on. All the parts were put together correctly and in the right order (those damn clever Koreans). The finish is good, yet light scratches with fingernails do happen and are noticed only at an angle. Could probably be buffed out if I cared.

Here come the almost negative comments. The shallow neck, which I prefer, needs trussing during any climatic change. It's an easy truss though. If you don't think you can do that yourself or can't learn (moron), I would suggest sticking with your Squire Precision. The neck also has very thin finish, which is also a plus in my book. For a five string the string spacing is close, but not Soundgear close, that would suck. It's just right.
The hardware is good, yet strange. The fortress bridge is something I'm still not sure about yet. I can't even explain it. Its like this screw that has a place set in the head for a string. Each one is resting on a small platform that has a hex screw holding it in place on a track in the bridge. If those hex screws become loose, which happens every so often, you get rattles. You also get your intonation whacked out. Then you have to tighten and loosen the screw which is directly under the string. Pretty fucked up. The to raise or lower the string you lift the string and twist the "screw" thing by hand. I have no idea why, it must sound better, because it sure aint and improvement on the standard issue as far as maintanence goes.
The screws on the strap pegs are standard length, but too short for basswood in my opinion. I will replace these.
I play venues where a lot of people pay good money to see a show, or I'm in the studio where it is unacceptable to hold up production because of gear problems. There's no WAY I'm not going to have a back-up with me, no matter what I'm playing.

I have NOT dealt with Cort.
Unfortunately I bought this from musiciansfriend. They are not my friend. They sent me the wrong bass, then wanted me to wait 4 weeks for the right one arive. It took me 10 phone calls and a double charge on my credit card for them to get it right. Shitheads.

I play in Gemini. We play large shows, clubs, and are in the studio about 4 months of the year. I have not done serious studio sessions with it yet, but I have played arenas with major sound systems on it. I go direct, sometimes with a digitech modeler. People comment on how good it sounds.
The band is known for bass lines that slap you in the balls. This bass allows me to deliver that. However, I was delivering that on a customized Squire I bought at a yard sale for $85 before I got this. I just deliver it on the Cort a lot easier and with no cramping (and people don't laugh at me anymore!) It's a good bass, not for a beginner, but if you know your shit or think you do, then get one. Definately the most bang for your buck.
