This bass has 24 frets, all of which you can play very easily. It has a luthite body with a brown swirl paint job. It has a three band equalizer (treble, mid and BASS) and a volume. It also has a slap switch (boost). One bartolini MK1 active electronics. The neck is maple and a Ebanol fingerboard. Nice tuners, stays in tune. Great bass all around, good six string for smaller people.
Sound
:9
Love the sounds. With the three band equalizer you can get a bunch of tonal variations. And with the slap switch you can bipass the equalizer and get a downright nasty awesome slap boost. I play latin jazz rock so it suite me fine. Very versatile. I have small hands and I have no problems getting around the fretboard. Very deep rich sounds to very crisp treble sounds. Works well for stage and studio.

I bought it used. I'm not sure what year it is, it was made in Korea and has 27 frets and has one Bartolini pickup and active electronics. I love the slap switch. The color is red. All the hardware is stock. The neck is comfortable and easy to play. Even playing after gig or at practice is stays in tune very good. I've owen a few other six string basses with the same width so I'm used to it, and the other ones I owned cost more and didn't sound as good or play as good.
Sound
:10
With the three band EQ you can get just about any sound you want, and since I play different styles I can dial in any kind of sound with ease. I do session work and it sounds good live or in the studio. I'm currently using a Ampeg combo amp.

They've worked hard to get the bass, and the case ready just in time for Christmas morning and they were so nice they've even wrote Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and. Also put the control placement on the control knob to show were the control knobs and which one is which and that was very helpful indeed.

I've been playing the bass guitar for three years this January the other gear I own is a Cort Curbow Retro four string bass, a SX five string bass and this wonderful Cort Curbow six string bass. No. If it were stolen or lost I would buy another one exactly like it. What I love about it is I can depend on it the sound the looks of the body, neck, and the head. Yes I compared it to fender, Squire, SX, Ibanez, and Peavey. The sound, easy to press down on the frets, and the looks of it. No. I would highly recommend a six string bass and tune it Low D, Low B, E, A, D, G so if you tune the 1st string with a Low B the 5th fret on the last string will have the high note like on a regular guitar. So have fun playing the bass and I have fun also.

This bass has a 3 band parametric EQ, volume,Bartolini p/u and a mid-cut "slap switch". It has a beautiful body shape inspired by Curbows International Exotic Petite line. Nice finish in metallic blue. Kind of heavy, but this helps with the great sound. Paid $400 new (close to dealer cost) thanks, Sammy!
Sound

I play blues, jazz, and funk mostly, but also use the bass for pick up gigs playing country and other styles. It handles them all. It doesn't really growl, but can get a zillion tones easily. I play it through a Hartke 3500 w/ a 4-10 XL cab. It tends to make my Tube Works combo break up a bit on louder gigs.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:8
I had to take the bow out of the neck, intonate it, and adjust the action and p/u height before I gigged with it. It is sweet now. The neck has been stable for about a year- no further adjustment needed so far. Otherwise it was OK out of the box.
Reliability/Durability

Never had a Cort before, but the Koreans are capable of building quality stuff. Neck adjusted when new and has stayed stable. I usually take this bass to gigs alone- just an extra battery and a set of strings. It seems very solid, but only time will tell.

I would replace it if I lost it. Affordable, fun, good looking. I am a fairly agressive player, using chords and soloing frequently and this bass delivers. No doubt the best cheap bass I have owned. I bought the 5 string fretless also and I had a difficult time setting it up, but it plays nicely now.

2000 or 2001 (not sure) Cort Curbow 6 String. 25-27 frets. Lake Placid Blue finish. Luthite body, Ebonol fretboard, maple neck. It has a single Bartolini p/u in the sweet spot, and a Bartolini active EQ with controls for volume, bass, mid, treble, and a slap contour switch. There are also trimpots on the back of the bass on the preammp which allow you to invidually adjust the level of bass and mid. If you can't find the sound you want on this bass, you either have VERY expensive taste, or need to find a new hobby. The controls give you complete control over your sound, so you can dial in about any sound you want. The slap contour is particularly useful. This bass sounds great with slap/pop playing, however the string spacing is not ideal for that style, its a little tight. That is normal for a six string, though. Overall, its looks great, sounds great, and is an incredible deal. For the money, this thing can't be beat.
Sound
:10
My style is progressive music, like Dream Theater, RUsh, etc. My band plays a lot of pop/rock music. This bass suits both styles very well.
The response is even across the board. High notes ring out with clarity, and sustain. Low notes are warm. If you turn up the mid control and dial down the treble, it has a fretless type growl. The Slap contour has more uses than just a good slap tone. It boosts the treble frequency and makes the overall sound more percussive. I play a lot of chords and chord tapping, and its not a problem at all on this bass.
Also, this bass is great for pop or rock music. The bass notes really jump out, the low B has great warmth and depth, its not overly boomy, but you can really feel the notes. Its very flaxable in how it can sound. Whether you play country, reggae, blues, metal, jazz, whatever, you can get YOUR sound with this bass. The Bartolini pickup and preamp are AMAZING!
Action, Fit, & Finish
:8
I bought the bass used, so I don't know about the factory setup. I know that when I got the bass, the action was WAY too low, and it had a TON of string buzz, especially on the higher frets. But, it was a snap to raise the action to the appropriate height, any amateur could do it. Setting the intonation requires nothing more than a tuner and a Phillips screwdriver, things every bass player should have anyways.
Reliability/Durability
:8
The first problem with reliability with ANY active bass in the battery going out on you mid-gig. Its never happened to me, but its not a big deal, just carry a spare 9-volt, and make sure you've got a Phillips screwdriver with you on a gig. Its probably a good idea to have a backup anyways, but you probably wouldn't need it.
As far as durability is concerned, time will tell. Its still a fairly new bass, but the fact that it is made of mostly synthetic materials is probably a good thing. One good thing with luthite is the finish is actually part of the material, so its gonna be pretty hard to scratch it up. I don't anticipate any problems in the forseeable future.
Customer Support
:No Opinion
I sent an email to the company asking if they could send me a manual, since I bought the bass used and it didn't come with one. I haven't heard back from them yet. You probably wouldn't need customer support anyways, but if you do, good luck.

I have been playing guitar for almost 10 years, and bass for the last 5 years. I play bass almost exclusively now, and I have a Fender P-bass Special, which also has a J-pickup. I have previously owned an Ibanez SR406 6-string, an Ibanez Ergodyne 5-string, a Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass, and a Dean Edge Q6 Fretless 6-string.
This bass does everything I need it to and more. I would love an Alembic, or a Pedulla, but I have a very strict budget. It has some very nice features for such a low price, and outperforms every other bass I have tried in its price range. My favorite feature on this bass is the preamp, which again is extremely versatile and user-friendly. If this bass were lost or stolen, I would buy another one ASAP. If you're thinking that a bass in this price range can't have sophisticated features and great tone, I would challenge to try one of these. You'll be quite impressed!

At the outset the bass was slightly off, but a quick trip to the local repair shop allowed the bass to sing beautifully. Since then its gone back once, half way through winter. Its going in again tomorrow to make the summer changes. The neck wood tends to be extremely annoyed by drastic weather changes, don't get this sucker if you live in a drastic climate.

I have been playing for 10 years now, my main guitar had been a fretless yamaha for 9 of them until I made this purchase. The curbow is completely amazing, and I don't mind paying $80 a year to have it reset to play in this state. If it weren't a dual truss rod bass I'd do it myself, but I broke my samick (samicks are SHIT by the way) by self maintaining it. I am not making that mistake again.

6 string , lake placid blue. Body is luthite, with "ebonol" fretboard, maple neck. Neck wood is nicely finnished, with a hint of birdseye. One bartolini pickup, with active controls (bass, treble, mid cut-boost) and a "slap contour" switch. I believe the switch "cut-boost" is adjustable, but haven't opened up the control cavitiy yet. Finnish is striking, and the hardware seems solid. A "tilit-back" bridge system tthat sits at an angle on the back end of the body. The body is small, but really cool looking. Finnish on hardware is a really nice matte finnish, and everything on this bass seems quality, and well put together...I was really plesantly suprised at the quality, for what I paid.

I also own a "gibson made" USA Tobias 5, and an original 78 Music Man...nothing can touch my Music Man for kick-ass tone, but it only does one thing. This bass sounds as good or better then my Tobias...doesn't really get that "J bass growl", like the Tobias does, but has very useable tones. Does the "modern" tone really well. I have only had it for three days, and is fast becoming my favorite bass. I haven't played in a band for a couple of years, but I have a pretty pro recording setup at home, and I used it for a track that I have been working on. I recorded it without the "slap" switch on, and it sits really well in the mix...a nice, clear "round" tone, that is really responsive to picking technique. I am a finger-style player, and this bass sounds great for that...like I said, it is as good or better sounding then my $1500 Tobias. I have an Eden live rig, but haven't plugged into it yet, but I am sure it will sound kick ass....

I bought this bass on an ebay auction, and it was advertised as "nib"...no, not the Sabbath song...it means "new in box"...the pictures even showed it sitting in a box, with the wrapper still on it, and thats exactly how I recived it. I pretty much stole this bass , for what I paid. The setup is pretty damn good, may have to take and have the intonation set, but the action is low and flawless....like I said, i have only had it for a few days, but I can't stop playing the damn thing! Have yet to find any buzzes on the flat, fast neck. 6 string is new to me, but I amd finding my way around pretty quickly, and this neck is super fast, and easy to play.....chords ring out, and harmonics sound killer....the bartolini pickup sounds as good or better then the 18 volt system on my Tobias, and uses one less 9 volt battery....bonus! I do a bit of "right hand tapping", and it sounds killer on this neck. The neck joint is super tight, and the neck goes about halfway thru the body, and is attached very solidly, with six screws. The finnish is flawless, and beautiful....I took it to work, and a bunch of guys that don't even play were impressed with the finnish.

I have been playing bass for over 25 years...I bought my Music Man brand new in 78! I'm an old "rocker dude", but I play a lot of different styles, from hard rock, to pop, and I don't think that there is anything that this bass wouldn't do, and do as well as my more expensive basses.....the only complaint I have is the same one that a few other people had, which is the small lower section of the body makes it nearly impossible to play sitting down, but big deal...like the other guy said, "play standing up"! I think this is an incredible value, and is worth the $500-$600 list price, let alone the $350 I "stole" it for! If your a 5 string player that wants to jump to a very pro sounding, playing 6, and you don't have the $40000$5000 for a real Curbow, or Ken Smith , buy one!!

Made in Korea. Luthite body. Single Bartolini soabar pickup with bass, mid, treble knobs and a contour switch for slapping. No-name bridge and tuners. The neck is one piece and reminds me of the neck on an old Guild Pilot5 I used to own. The Ebonol fretboard is different and kinda cool.
Sound

This bass sounds good for under $1000. I play it through an SWR head and cabinet and it is not bad at all. Also have an older Tobias Killer B which cost 7X more. Doesn't sound as good as the Tobias, but I did not expect it to. I am pleased with the Cort sound. I would give a Ken Smith a 10 and my Tobias a 9. (for bolt ons)

Pretty amazing what you can get in this price range. I imagine people that buy 6 strings tend to go for the higher end and that may be why these can be bought for under $500. I bought it as a backup bass.
The fretboard is very well done and plays well.
The construction is impressive but obviously mass produced. The luthite body has an odor, but doesn't really bother me. There is quite a bit of electronics in the body cavity. The battery slot has threaded screw holes, but the rest of the screw holes use wood screws.
Overall this bass is put together well and plays better than I expected. Maybe because the string spacing and neck width is similar to my other bass.
Reliability/Durability
:8
This makes sense as a backup bass or a bass I wouldn't worry about damaging. Bridge is solid. Don't know how the one piece neck will hold up. Or the luthite body, but did notice the stock strap buttons have the longest screws I have seen. I get the feeling the luthite material does not do as well with wood screws as wood does. Imagine that...

The biggest complaint I have about the bass is the small bottom horn. It makes it uncomfortable to blay sitting down because it does not sit well on your leg. Continually slides off. But, hey, play standing up.
Overall I can't imagine a better bass for the money, but you have to be open to the "new" construction materials. It is all relative though. This is not a $1500+ bass.
If it were to get crushed by the airlines, I would buy another one.
