My band plays variety, multi-era rock. I use my JP5 with a Gallien-Krueger 400RB-III, a dbx compressor, an SWT 15" cab, and a Gallien-Krueger 4x10 cab.

I gotta admit. I love the sound of this bass. My other bass is a Rickenbacker and since I got the JP5, my ric has gotten VERY little work. ENOUGH said. The pickups on this give it a variety tones. Anything I need.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I got it used so I can't comment on the factory set up. I find no flaws in it, though I did have to play with the bridge a little and raise the strings a tad to get rid of a bit of a buzz.

Reliability/Durability : 9
It's a very light bass considering. It's very eye-catching. Durable? so far so good. I always bring a back-up to a gig, but this has definitely become my main guitar. I am in love with the sound of this guitar.

Customer Support : No Opinion
haven't used them yet.

I can't say enough good things about this guitar. I knew it had good ratings but I was BLOWN AWAY by the sound. You can't do better for under $1000. There are better guitars, but they cost a lot more. I had a Spector Euro Rebop 5 - a highly rated guitar. This one blows the Spector away.

2004 korean 5 string bass, 24 frets. it has volume, balance, treble, mid, and low controls, great for really perfecting any sound you want. The batrolini pickups just make it so much better. Its an active bass, it can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but if u keep an extra 9v battery handy you should be fine.

Sound : 9
Ive tried it on the Galien Kruger bassline 115 combo, For practice with your band it sounds great, dont have to turn it up much. Ive played lots of slap on it, picks up everything perfectly, great with harmonics, its got such a variety of sounds. Ive played with it live once and like i said, the only probalem was the 9volt, it started to die on me during the middle of the show. other than that, its a great wonderful bass.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion

Reliability/Durability : 7
Ive been playing on it for several months strait, I think it will definetly take many years for something to go wrong, the finsih on it is pretty good, hasnt worn off yet. Strap buttons havent budged, I always bring a backup to a gig but with this bass theres little worries.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea of how to get in touchw ith cort, probably through their website. Didnt get a warranty because i bought it used.

Ive been palying for several years now, I own a trabian 5 string bass, and a OLP 5 string bass. This is by far my favorite bass, Ive gone and tried some of those really expensive warwicks, and yea their great, but this is definetly the bass for me.

2004, Cort Josh Paul 5 string bass. Made in Korea, 24 frets, quilted maple top, swamp ash body, natural finish, two Bartolini MK-1 Soapbar Pickups. Active Electronics with Mid Control!! Controls are Push/Pull Volume/active bypass, pickup blend, treble, mid, bass. Rock maple neck with Rosewood Fretboard. Transparent Gloss Finish. Weird, but cool, Elrick body style. String through the body stringing, Cool Spector-like solid black bridge. 35" scale neck really helps with the low B tension. Oh yeah and a zero fret.

Sound : 10
The best sound out of a sub-$1000 dollar bass, in my opinion. I play all kinds like jazz, funk, rock, metal, jam, latin, bossa, and slappy solo stuff. This bass is incredible. When I want to switch to slap, all I have to do is give it a little bid in the mids and a little in the bass. I use it with my SWR Workingman's 4004 and an Avatar 212 Bass cabinet and It sounds absolutely amazing. The wide string spacing gets some getting used to, but after that IT's unbelievable. It has a warm, Bright sound that is suitable for all types of music. I love the Bartolini MK-1s.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
From the factory, the action was way too low choking out a lot of frets. The pickups were adjusted perfect, just a little favored towards the treble side of the bass. The only flaw that I found on my bass straight from the factory was one of the knobs was on crooked. It's not really that big of a deal and all it took was a loosening and retightening. But it was still a hassle. The neck was as straight as an arrow straight and perfect. No finish flaws, perfect finish, looks awesome with all black hardware.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I have not used this bass live yet, but I think it will stand up to years of abuse.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not contacted Cort directly, so I have no opinion on this subject.

I have been playing for 5 years and I own a Corvette Basic Rockbass Corvette 5 and this thing blows that out of the water. I though the Corvette was a great value when I got it, but this thing is amazing. If it was lost or stolen I would definatly buy another one. I love the incredibly lightweight body and very flexibel electronics. The lower horn and special neck allow for perfect access to the upper frets. This sealed the deal on this bass. ON top of that it had a 35" scale and a zero fret. The control cavity was very neat and tidy with shielding. There is a separate battery compartment on the back of the bass which makes switching batteries a breeze. I compared it to German made Warwicks, Spectors, Ibanez, Lakland, Tobias, and custom made basses, but this one by far came out the best. I have owned 28 basses in the last 5 years and this one is by far my favorite that says a lot especially after I had a Lakland 55-02!!! I love this bass and it is the best, the best value for under $1000.

Gorgeous emerald green finish on an ash body. 24-fret, 35"-scale (5-string only). 3-band EQ, master volume and blend controls, dual Bartolini MK-1 soapbars. Hipshot licensed tuners. Bolt-on neck. This bass was introduced at the 2002 NAMM show as a new "Signature Series" model by Cort. Its just getting to be a little easier to find and purchase right now.

Sound : 10
Three band EQ and Bartolini electronics provide a great selection of sounds. The 35" scale length really helps on the low B tension and clarity. A multitude of possibilities from a bright slap tone, to a punchy thick modern sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Set-up from the factory was great. Very low action if you're into that sort of thing. Neck was dead straight. My 'D' string needed a small adjustment to the intonation only. I found the fret work to be exceptional for a bass of this price.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This bass is going to get a lot of gig action. I see no reason to think that it will have no trouble. The finish may be somewhat thin, but this is just an educated guess. Change all of your strap buttons to strap-locks, not just this one!

I own 14 basses currently, and have gone through 17 others in my 23 years of playing. This bass is a superb example of mid-price Korean craftsmanship. This is my 2nd Cort bass (other is a Curbow 5) and I have not been let down in the slightest by either. For the money, Cort makes some sensational products. They compare very favorably against my higher-end basses (Warwick, Bogart) in all areas! The JPS5 is difficult to find, but well worth the effort! I visited 6 music shops and tried out numerous basses, all of which I didn't find as attractive as this one. I ended up buying the Cort sight unseen, and it was by far the best, especially in this price range. In the under $1000 category, this bass gets my full thumbs up. Others I had considered: Lakland 55-01, Brian Moore i5, Tobias Toby-Pro 5B

I play various styles, and the bass is very versatile. More modern sounding and has an agressive slap and fingerstyle tone. (Somewhat Musicman like)
The bass is naturally a little on the bright side, but the preamp gives you lots of options.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The factory set-up was almost perfect. (Slight pick-up adjustment)It's extremely playable and there was no buzzing on the fretbord whatsoever.
The finish is beautiful and the the hardware is high quality.
There was some compound polish left in the truss rod adjustment cavity.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I haven't had the bass long enough to comment. Everthing appears to be built for the long haul.

Haven't had to use them yet.

You can't beat it for the price. I shopped extensively, and nothing compares to it in it's price range. It looks fantastic and sounds great as well.
