This amp was made like in around 2002-2004. The amp (as most of its larger counterparts) has a multi-effects processer. It has Reverb, wah, chorus, echo, flange, etc. It has a standard jack, a headphone jack, and a speaker jack. Despite it being only 15 watts, it keeps up fairly well. However this difference in sound between 1 and 2 is vast, it goes from nothing to quite loud. It is a Solid state amp.

I use both a Squier Precision bass Special, a Magnum Les Paul, and Ibanez Jet King and an Ibanez Ergodyne Bass through it. I wouldn't reccomend it as a guitar amp, but it does the bass fair justice. It is not noisy, it is built like a brick shithouse, and it is very simple to use. It does not have a distortion channel. As far as my music style if fits ok, its a practise amp so I don't expect everything from it.
Reliability

I can defenately depend on this amp, Crate really did a good job with it. I have owned it for 2 years now and it has never so much as squealed. I reccomend it for beginners, or for someone that just needs something to jam on.

This is a great little amp, lots of effects, easy to use, built tough. I highly reccomend it, it won't let you down.

Purchased recently, because of my other amp being out-of-commission and needing a quick replacement. So I headed with brother in tow over to a crate dealer, because simply crates are good simple amps(from experience) and picked up the Crate BFX15. I'm astonished that all other modles aside from this one have been reviewed, apon looking at the review for the BFX 25 I encountered both a very good review and a very poor review on it. So i'm a bit concerned about this one. It seems to have been made in about 01'? 02'? it still has a five year warrenty and I was told there's a year left. It has a lot of effects but they don't seem to work very well. Its also quite heavy for a 15 watt amp... I have yet to figure out where the real master control for the volume is, when I first turned it on it was hella loud, so I turned the "Gain" switch down and that seemed to lower the volume. Other than that It sounds excellent, very promising.
Sound

It sounds very nice, even when suited up with my PD7 overdrive/distortion. Most other amps of this size that i've tried out have prooven pretty gutless with the effects pedal, but this one seems to perform allright. It fits in well with my style of music(heavy metal-hardrock) playing in my room it sounds good, playing outside it sounds OK. Has a pretty deep tone to it, which I personally like. I wouldn't reccomend using it for a show, more for a practise or studio use.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:9
It seems to be set up pretty well, allthough the controls are kind of confusing at first. Its very solid, I stubbed my toe off of it, stubbed it good, It didn't even budge.
Reliability/Durability
:7
Its fairly Durable, as stated above. And time will tell how reliable. It seems fairly reliable, and i'm pretty confident it will be so I give it a 7.

I've been playing bass for about 4 years now, in that time i've owned a Yorkville 200B(main amp), a Cheri 20B(practice) and now This Crate BFX15, I've used(or borrowed/rented) A Crate B100 and B200, also a newer Yorkville 200B and a Fender Bassman 25. as Far as this amp goes its ranked higher than the Cheri and Bassman simple because of its tone, I Play a Squire P-bass Special lefty, and it seems to have good sound with the crate when I play heavy. I also had a Mansfield Jazz(I miss thee) and I know it would have sounded great on it as well. Allthough it doesn't match up to the 200B and Crate heavies it seems to do pretty well as a practise and Lone-performance amp. I reccomend it to anyone needing a practise amp or someone just starting out.
