1999 Korean-made reissue of the vintage Danelectro.
Solid Body, lightweight, easy action neck and 60's tone.
Blue Sparkle
Full Scale with Maple Neck
This bass feels like a cross between a Fender Precision and a Mosrite Ventures bass. The body closely emulates the lopsided and big-finned shape of the Mosrite, only without the contoured Rosmeisl "lip." The peghead is a typical Danelectro "Coke-bottle" shape with enclosed tuners arranged two-on-a-side. A Fender-like white plastic pickguard graces the front of the body, revealing a solitary split-coil P-Bass-type pickup. The full-scale maple neck is very comfortable, with a feel that falls somewhere between a Jazz Bass and a Precision. It is given a clear satin finish which is very friendly towards moist hands. Electronically, the split-coil pickup comes across as a nastier version of a P-Bass with extra midrange snarl and treble bite.
A unique feature is a built-in chorus effect. It is switched on and off via a small button on the pickguard. Although it only has one very middle-of-the-road setting, it is very solid and incredibly retro-sounding. For a sixties-styled instrument, the effect definitely evokes the eighties with a respectable emulation of period Boss chorus pedals. Be forewarned, though. Much like a chorus pedal, the onboard unit requires a 9-volt battery that goes dead quickly if the lead line is not unplugged when not in use.
Seller included a Fender canvas gig bag, guitar stand, and strap.

I use this bass to play in drop D while using a Digitech BP50 to add a Synth Distortion. I play out of an Ampeg B2 15'' Combo with a Epiphone Trigger Cab 4x12'', and a Danelectro Nifty Seventy. I play punk rock, metal, and hardocore with this bass. There is little to no noise with all controls at max. I get a rich full twang that really adds to mids and highs. It brightens very well.
When in standard tuning, I play indie a la Lemonheads mixed with Violent Femmes and use the clean setting of the amp set up or on the Digitech BP50, I use a Fender Bassman effect or an AShdown BAss Magnifier. I get a really bright sound with wonderful 60's esque punch on the mids and highs.
With that Digitech BP50, I also use the phaser and flange mixed with all sorts of pitch shift, reverb, etc. and this bass delivers on every setting.
Good for live or studio work.
I love everything about it but it is made out of plywood and that's why it gets an 8 overall instead of a 9.

I got this brand new in box and the factory action works well for me. Pickups are perfect position, and the bass was spotless.

If treated right, then the bass will last forever, but it is made of plywood so i got a hardshell case to baby it. the hardware is tough. finish is beautiful and thick. strap buttons are solid. I trust this bass. I would use it on a gig without a back up.

I've been playing since 1998 and I own a Fender Us Highway 1 Crimson Transparent Jazz Bass, an Ibanez TR series with Gibson PJ Marx jazz pickups, an Ampeg B2 15'' Combo, a Danelectro Nifty Seventy, Epiphone Trigger Cab 4x12, Lowery L2 Organ, Digitech BP50, 1982 Indigo Blue Chevy El Camino. If lost or stolen, then I would use it as an excuse to buy a new different more expensive bass like a Rickenbocker or something because I would be justified 'cause I had a great bass at a great price but it was taken from me and all I did was love it. i love everything, but it is made of plywood. I was going to get a Fender PBass but instead, I got this bass, and I'm happy I did. I wish I had an Epiphone EB 3 Black Bass. I love his site.
