I have a four string 22 Fret DeArmond Pilot Bass Deluxe. I asume that it also was made in Korea as many other like it were. But I don't have all the information about it's orgin. It is really nice though with active pick ups and 3 band EQ knobs plus the main volume knob. A Mahogany body and Maplewood neck. The finish is satin but you can see many scratches and dirt spots if you don't keep it clean. It has a jazz body style but the head does not knob off at the top it just a triangular head. The scale is thin because I can fit my small hands all around it! I use a Seiko tuner, Fender strap and Fender gig bag.

The sound is beautiful. I can't ever complain, no matter what genre I am playing. Jammin w a rock band I turn the EQ to P side. Then when I am alone playing some Flea or funk I turn the J side and it is awesome!THe bass puts out a very Rich sound and flexible to suit anyone's tone taste! I love it! I am using a Crate BX100 sometimes I just plug in and play on any system and it still has the great low vibes, not too noisy at all. I have not recorded in a studio yet.

Yea. The bass preforms will live! Everything on the hardware is working fine. The finish holds up well especaily when you keep it clean. I will mention that one of the strap pegs was cross threaded, but that doesn't mean the factory made it that way. I could have easily made that mistake. Anyways i fixed that. I have depended on this bass at least once a week, everyweek for years without a back up! I have not needed to adjust the neck rod.

I have been playing bass for over two years. I owe a 5 string Fender Jazz and a Digitech Wah Wah Bass envolpe pedal. I would be angry and sad if i lost the bass or if the bass was stolen! The Pilot Deluxe was an Awesome deal espeacily for the price I got for it! No other bass less than $300 competes! Unbeilivable! It is unlikely I would ever find another just like it, but I would try to find another. Sometimes I wish it had a fifth string, but that is why I bought the Fender Jazz.

I think this a 2001 made in Korea Pilot Deluxe. It has 22 frets, very nicely laid in and polished. Body is oil-finished Mahogony, natural. It has a multiplet laminate neck made from walnut and maple, and it has a neckthrough design, which is excellent. It has an onboard active preamp and 3-band EQ, volume, mid, treble, bass, and blend. It has two passive made in America DeArmond humbuckers, which are quite good for stock. It has a jazz-like body, but I like it ten times more than any comparably prices fender basses. Has a bridge thru style, and I like the bridge quite a bit. The tuners are Satinchrome, along with the bridge. I love the look of the tuners, and the knobs. Very sturdy. Its got a pretty thin jazz-like neck and is very playable. This was one of the last ones around, as DeArmond is going out of bussiness. I payed $150 lesss than the original street price.

This bass suits my style perfectly. I play many different kinds of music, especially funk. The right adjustment of the knobs can give you any sound you want, from jazz to hardcore. The sound is warm and resonant due to the neck-thru design, but you can dial it so it is very tight and punchy. It gets a little noisy with treble all the way up, but I never use my treble all the way anyway. I run it through a 75 watt combo, and it sounds fine. I have not played live with it, or recorded with it yet, but I assume it will be great.

For the most part, it was great. I put some flatwounds on it, so I had to adjust the bridge a little. The neck was fine, no adjustment needed yet. My only problem would be the oil finish. The body is not heavily sealed,a nd it scratches easily. I'm wearing a little "slap-spot" on it where my index finger comes in contact with the body when I slap. But these scratches can easily be polished/buffed off, so it doesn't really matter, and it still sounds perfect. Everything is cut/sanded and put together well.

This bass will definitely take live playing well. The hardware is some of the best I've seen, especially in the price range. The finish could use a little work, though. The strap buttons are very good, and I have not had any problem with them yet. The truss rod has not needed adjustment yet, and I would definitely gig without a backup.

I would certainly kill the person that stole it. Enough said. It is better than my Yamaha RBX 360 and the fender p-bass that I sold to buy it. Probably the best value I have ever seen. If anybody wants to talk bass, or talk about this bass, email me.

Brand new DeArmond Pilot Bass Deluxe 4 string bass guitar made in 2001 in korea. The bass has 22 extra jumbo frets. Solid top. Controls include Master Volume, Balancer for selecting which pickup, and a 3 band active eq, bass, mid range, and treble. 2 humbucking pickups that are passive. The body is made of ash and the neck is a 5 piece maple and walnut. The bride on theis bass is one of the expensive roller bass bridges and it looks great! Of course the neck has a rosewood fretboard and it is a 35 inch scale neck. No accessories were included with this bass, but who cares, its awesome. Oh yeah the neck is super thin and is very easy to play on.

The sound of this bass is just awesome. This bass is definately great for ANY kind of style. I play metallica and megadeth, and this bass is a killer. The bass developes a little bit of noise when you have the mid on full. So for that i fine tuned the sound with the bass and treble on full and the mid on the halfway position. It has a nice warm sound on the low strings and a nice bright punchy sound on the higher strings.I've never played it in a studio because i just got it today, but i do have experience on playing bass.

The bass was set up perfectly for my playing style. The action was low and it doesn't buzz any. The bridge pickup is perfect but the neck pickup needs adjusted just a small bit, but that is not a problem. Well when i recieved the bass i looked it over really good and found a very small spot that looks like it doesn't have any sealer on it, but thats not a problem. The wood grains look great and you can feel them. The bass just has small coat of sealer on it. A very nice looking bass.

This bass would probably withstand live playing because i don't jump around and stuff like that. The bridge and the tuning machines should last for a long time. Well you see, i accidentally dented the bass on the back after it fell off the bed, but it is just a small ding and i can sand it off and reseal it. You have to watch out not to scratch the finish though. They really needed to make it have a thicker sealer though. The strap buttons are good ones but i will probably replace them with straplocks. I haven't had to adjust the neck or anything yet. Well if i was playing live i would always have my 5 string with me just in case, but it is a good bass and it should hold up, so i would probably use it without a backup.

I have been playing for about 6 months and i have mastered finger picking. Believe me, i'm not a master at it, but i am pretty good. I also own an offbrand essex (SX) that i bought from rondo music in NJ, and it is a great bass also. If this bass was stolen I would find out who took it, then i would pour gasoline on them while they were sleeping and then i would light it. Then i would take the bass back, because these are very hard to find. I like everything about this bass, and especially the neck-thru. I compared this bass to an ernie ball sterling bass and this bass sounds just like it, and it is better also cause the ernie ball isn't neck-thru. All the features on this bass are awesome and this bass looks like one of those really expensive basses like ernie ball bases. If you can find one of these basses you had better buy it, because they are awesome and they are hard to find. They are hd to find because fender discontinued them and they are going fast. Even if you are a pro or a beginner or just whatever you are then i would suggest you to get this bass.

2000 model, made in korea, 22 frets, 4 string. Its got a mahogany body with a 5 piece maple with walnut insert neck thru contruction. There was a choice of natural finish Mahogany or Ash, i got the darker Mahogany. Both I thought were great. Rosewood fingerboard, and two soapbars pickups. The topper for me was the active 3-band EQ. Also, the bass is a 35 inch scale.

The sound is very versitale with the soapbars and the active 3 band. You got a blend, volume, bass, treble, and mid controls on board to give you almost limitless sound possibilities. The pick ups are pretty nice for stock, but if i had the money i would upgrade to EMG or Basslines.

The action was pretty nice when i got it. I need to give alot of neck releif though, but no big deal. The finish is great. Its a natural finish on the Mahogany where you can feel the grain of the wood. S there is no gloss or anything, just raw wood which is a great feel and look. It was spotless, and was a major plus to this bass.

This bass so far is holding up, but I can't really say because I have had it for only 2 days so far. The neck thru feels great and really adds to the stability.

It has a lifetime warranty thru fender. All the dealings I have had with fender CS have been great. I don't fear any future dealings.

I always wanted a bass that was neck thru, but all the ones that had this were 1,000 and up. I was checking out the ESP LTD new neck thru's and didn't care for them at all. Then i was scooping out the Sam Ash website and saw a Dearmond close out, and this 600 dollar bass was on for 300, so i snagged it. Best thing i think i ever did so far with guitars. This bass rules, and if you are looking for a great mid range bass with great great great features, this is the one you should be looking at.

This is a Korean-made remake of the Guild Pilot Bass from the 80s. I don't know the year it was made, though it can't be older than 2 years. 4 string, 22 frets, 35 inch scale. 2 passive soapbar pickups, active preamp, volume, pickup blend and 3 band eq. Neck through body construction: neck is 5 piece maple, body is ash, rosewood fingerboard, natural finish.

I jam to classic rock tunes with my pals, and am learning to play Latin bass. I play the bass through an Ampeg BA-112 combo. The bass has a great tone-- powerful lows, and a lot of punch. The pickup blend and eq allow you to shape the sound quite a bit-- I mostly play it with the bass control on full, mid and treble flat, and fiddle with the blend to fing the right balance between depth and brightness.

The factory setup was very good. Only the G string came a bit too low, causing some buzz around the 12th fret. The action is really low on this bass-- it is really nice to play.

I've been playing guitar for 5-6 years, and decided to switch to bass. I owned a Squier P-Bass for a few months 2-3 years ago (which got stolen), and had played other people's basses on and off. This thing gives you an amazing amount of bass for your money-- it is very easy to play, and sounds great. If it were stolen or lost, I'd be very happy with another one one, or perhaps an original Guild Pilot. In fact, when I get a five string, the model first on my list will be a DeArmond Pilot. I love pretty everything about this bass; above all, I love it's easy feel. I picked this base when I went to the store to get a bass to practice on; I tried all the basses in the $200-600 range the store had, and realized the Pilot completely blew them all away in tone and feel. I wish it had a fifth string.
