I won this Bromberg B2 on Ebay. I guess it to be a 2008. There is no serial # on the bass. This model is made in China (according to the sticker) and had dean printed in white script on the headstock along with a B2 logo in Abalone at the 12th fret. It's a neck through with thin, but highly figured flamed maple tops on the body wings. The finish is a thin, satin, transparent teal color. As other Bromberg models, this one comes with magnetic and piezo pickups. You can adjust the volume of the treble and bass of the piezo inside the basses control cavity. Unlike the Korean model, this bass has soapbar style pups instead of the jazz-style pups. It has black hardware except for the bridge, which is a dark, smoky chrome. It is a 4 string bass.

It has a wide range of tones. The deepest can be reached with both mag. pups wide open with bass tone full, w/ mids and treb. cut. Good slap tone with mids rolled off w/ bass and treb. wide open. Add some piezo to the mix for some extra zing. You can also get a cool upright sound by using just the piezos while palm muting. Extra mids offer a great finger style growl. I've played this bass live with a contemporary praise and worship band and I'm very pleased with the sound. Sometimes I use a Carvin 600 210 kickback combo onstage and I've also just ran the bass to the board and used the EAW floor monitor. Both ways, the bromberg sounded great. The high boost is a little noisy (extra hiss) when cranked wide open. This bass could use better tone pots. (these are of the all or nothing variety)

surprisingly good set-up on a Chinese bass. The action was set med-low. So, I wandered,"How low will it go?" I've adjusted the truss rod until the neck is practically straight and I also lowered the bridge saddles a bit with no buzz problems. The finish is thin and easy to scratch. The edge of the headstock had scratched while in the Dean factory box.
The satin finish also becomes shiny when rubbed (like below the g-string when slapping. I rubbed the body top with auto scratch remover paste and it produced a very nice sheen over the flame maple.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The finish may not last long, but I don't always like a heavy finished bass. only had the bass a month but so far the neck hasn't needed adjusting. I have gigged without a backup.

I've been playing for over 30 yrs. I own a 2008 Fender American standard jazz w/Audere preamp(gooood stuff!)and a groove tools Bill Dickens signature 7 string. A Carvin 210 combo, a GK RB800 head w/ carvin 210 and 410 cabs. I wish I had more information about this Chinese made B2 bass. Everything I find online about the Dean B2's are Korean made. I don't even know what this bass is supposed to retail for. I bought this bass as new on E-bay for $300.00. I consider it a great deal just because I'm having way more than $300.00's worth of fun out of this bass. So far, I've gotten several "What is that?" questions when playing her along with several "That's a good looking bass." remarks. I'm giving her a 10 within the relative "yeah, I know it's Chinese" sphere.

My band tours a lot. This bass has become my favorite--even over my Spectors. I saw it in a guitar shop, picked it up and had to have it. I'd really like to get my hands on a 5 string too.

This is a brand new 2004, Korean-made Bromberg bass. Chances are, if you are a bass player, you know who Brian Bromberg is--if you don't--YOU SHOULD! This bass is certainly worthy of sporting his name. It's a monster! It is neck-thru, JJ pups, 18V electronics, Fishman piezo bridge, brass nut, 24 frets w/ a DEEP cutaway.

Sound : 10
This bass sounds amazing--much like Victor Wooten's Foderas. It's quiet in the right way and LOUD in the right way (no hiss/very powerful). I've been playing almost 20 years, so I'm not blowing smoke...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
It came with a respectable setup--I had to tweak to my taste, but it was not bad. This is a very well made bass.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've had no problems at all--nor do I foresee any.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't needed them for this bass, but I know they are very friendly and eager to help. They went out of their way for me a few years ago...

I've been a musician for over 25 years--almost 20 have been primarily bass. This is one of the most incredible instruments I've ever played. Out of all the high dollar basses I've played and owned, this ranks VERY highly. Coming from a working bass player with my experience, that says a lot. Surprisingly, I haven't seen many of these. People always come up to me and ask about it and say how incredible it is. My advice: GO BUY ONE!!

This is a brand new made in 2004, Korean-made Dean B2. It has 24 frets on a rosewood fretboard and a 5-pc neck that is through the body. The electonics are raher complex. It has 2 Dean J pickups and a Fishman Piezo bridge. The electromics include: stacked p/u volume w/ center detent (one for each magnetic p/u), master volume, piezo volume, mid level, stacked volume/bass and a 3-way selector switch (Magnetic/Magnetic + Piezo/Piezo). The 18-volt electronics have tons of headroom and are very LOUD (but NO HISS). The Grover tuners are good--I have them on other basses and I've been pleased w/ them.

The neck is very slim and fast. A unique feature of the B2 (that's "B Squared")is the deep cutaway: there is plenty of room to play all 24 frets--enough to play about 30 to be honest!

This bass came with a set of allen wrenches.

I have not yet gigged with this bass. But, in my studio, it sounds incredible! Just playing through an Ampeg combo, it sounds HUGE! I can't seem to make it hiss at all--even with a piezo tweeter. the bass can sound like a P, J, Fodera, Kubicki--you name it!!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action was a touch high for my tastes and the intonation was out (close, but not close enough for my ears--TUNE IT OR DIE!!!!). Everything else was near perfect!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I do not forsee any issues.

I am confident Elliot Rubinson and his team will take care of me if something comes up!

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing bass for over 15 years and have owned tons of basses from crap to top of the line. This one is definitely top of the line. I'm pretty sure I'd have to get another one if anything happened to this one. Heck, I may get another one anyway! 5-string, fretless--OH YEAH!!!
