Korean-manufactured Guitar, fretless w/ 24 fret lines (two full octaves), yellow to red sunbirst, EMG-HZ pickups, unfortunately, no case included. Three knobs, two volume, one tone. Bolt-on Neck, awesome feel of neck. Quite possibly one of the fastest instruments i've played, going up against Hamer's Slammer XP-standard, seagul s6+ spruce, Taylor custom acoustic, Schector ab-5, Gibson Les Paul, Applause acoustic, JB Player Bass, Ibanez, Hamer 25th anniversary, Peavy Foundation (5-string bass) or ESP Custom..... needless to say, this is one quick momma. The only thing that really slows it down are the old flat-wound strings that it came with. Great deal, no complaints whatsoever.

Sound : 10
as it's fretless, it has an awesome tone, EMG active pickups create a really clean sound. It should sound even better when the strings are replaced!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
since it was used, it was in surprisingly great condition. Fingerboard showed a little wear, but that's nothing to really complain about. Slight buzz in the first fret, but that can be fixed.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This bass would definately withstand whatever you can put out. Really solid design, the only concern is the bottom strap peg (will be fixed later)

Customer Support : No Opinion
not dealt with dean yet.

@ $200, it was a steal of a deal, I don't think I could make out any better then I had with this. bassists: if you want a solid, reliable fretless bass, THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU!

This is a 34" scale, 24 fret, four string fretted bass. It's got EMG-HZ pickups, two volumes and a tone (like a Jazz bass). It's got a basswood body and five piece maple and walnut neck with a rosewood fretboard and grover tuners. Mine is transparent black (really pretty) with all black hardware. THe neck is a lot thinner than a standard p-bass or j-bass neck. Fast fast fast. Fastest neck I've ever played on... faster than those thin Tobias necks even.

I run this baby through a truly "rigged" rig and it still manages to sound sweet. The tone controlls will tweak those EMG's to sound like anything I need. Everything from booming regge style bass to bright and punchy slaps. And since it has EMG's in it, it's totally noiseless when it's just sitting there. I play mostly southern rock with a smattering of punk and some other stuff and it just does it all! It sounds awsome run direct to CD too! I used it for a friend's studio session, and he didn't EQ it or anything, just ran it straight to disk and it sounded AWSOME! I was even surprised by how good it sounded.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I haven't changed a thing on this bass since I got it besides strings. The action came nice and low but without any fret buzz that normally plagues low action basses. I bought htis bass because I went the the Music-Go-Round at home like I do every time I'm home and they actually had a left handed bass, so I played one it expecting it to sound like crap like most lefties do (since many companies only make lefties of their low quality basses) and I was BLOWN AWAY! It was so easy to play on and sounded so good that I had to buy it.

I've only had this bass a few months, but it's been gigging with me (wich means that it's been through some dangerous situations) and it's still in awsome shape. Geeze, I don't even have to TUNE this thing very often, let alone get the truss rod adjusted or somethign drastic like that. I'm not worried about this baby pooping out on me during a gig. I use it without back up all the time.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've not had to deal with Dean, but Music Go Round is, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest stores out there and they work with me every time I have a problem with anything (I haven't had to take this bass in, but I have taken other instruments in before) and they are always helpfull and skillfull.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall, I love this bass. It's a sight better than my other two,a nd I don't see myself ever NEEDING another bass... wanting is another matter, of course. :) If this were stolen I would cry my eyes out, tear my hair out, punch holes in a few walls... and then go get another one. Especially for the price Dean is charging for these basses! They are worth WAY more than they cost. Go get one! NOW! :)
