there is only one other review on the Dillion DFBB ( Tbird ) bass, so I thought I would add mine to the list. the other poster is correct I have had mine for a year now, ( it is a 2005 )and I can only say that unfortunately Dillion did not have the sales that Gibson/Epi did to sell the hell out of these things. There is nothing BAD I can say about it. The paint is perfect, the glue seams on the set neck are flawless, the pots are crackle-free, and the Dillion TBIRD humbucker clone pickups are so close in tone to the Gibson versions, I can not be happier.

Sound : 10
It is a very good "piano tone" bass, or as growly as my regular cheap Epiphone depending on the tone settings. The pickups are totally noiseless thru my Carvin amp. The sustain is as good as any neckthru mahogany Gibson I have ever played.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The factory out of the box set up does not apply since I bought it used, but whoever set it up when I got it did an excellent job, and I have used it for 3 years with NO trussrod or bridge saddle adjustments.

Reliability/Durability : 9
After using this thing for a while now, can I say I can drop it like a Peavey T-40 and have it survive? uh...no Do I think I could wear out the paint clearcoat from normal use...I highly doubt it. would I take this thing as my only bass on stage ---sure I do it all the time. I have a backup, but never have used it yet in 50 or more shows since I got it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I got it used, and this does not apply

Overall Rating : 10
I have many high-end basses, and although this one was not nearly as expensive as a couple of my others, it is always complimented as the Greco Tbird is to the real Gibson for tone, looks, and playability from others who have used it.

This is a new 2006 Dillion Copy of the Gibson Thunderbird Bass [Firebird body style]. The bass has a perfect black painted finish, 34" scale neck. It is really a perfect copy in every way except for the pickups. These are Dillion special designed pickups and have a very nice, deep low end sound with great top end. Two pickups, no selector switch, two volume controls and one tone control.

Set maple neck, alder body. Black hardware.

Sound : 10
I really like the sound, it sounds very true to the original which had a very nice deep, throaty sound. Very articulate with a touch more punch and output than the original.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The neck on this thing is great!! exactly like the orginal. The orginal Thunderbird had a very slim neck with a comfortable taper.
Balance is always an issue with body styles like this. The location of the front strap button is really the problem. Move it to the back, close to the neck and you will be happy.

The finish is perfect. That is all I can say. The hardware is very good quality. NO issues here.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Come on, it is a tank!!! unless you drop it or abuse it, what is your worry? The rather slim neck width at the nut and tilt back headstock makes it very vulnerable if dropped, So what? Don't drop it!

I don't know.

This is a great bass with a great sound. If someone were to steal it, someone is going to get an ass whoopin. Nuff said. I would absolutely buy another one. Would love to have one in sunburst just like my orginal Thunderbird.
