Hello!
i have an ESP b-2005 anniversary. it is made in indonesia and has 2 EMG pickups - active , 3 band eq plus tone and volume.
Sound
:

the sound is killer for a metal bassist - the EMG are really what i have always expected from a metal bass.
- no noise - unbelieveable good - i owned a Fender and an 5string Aram before and this is the best i have tested so far. i was really close to buy a Warwick or a Music Man (the 900 euro model) but this baby convinced me -
i run into a Ashdown Mag300 + Ashdown115 extension speaker - it is metal -
it has a warm sound through the ashdown sound with bass eq on maximum --- but really versatile - use from time to time a Tech 21 sansamp for extreme sounds --
i give it a 9 because i never played a 2000 euro bass , therefore...
veven though i have plans to buy a Music Man or smth special, i would never sell this baby

very good finish - extremely accurate even for drop C tuning
i have been playing bass guitar since 1997 - 10 years --- i also bought this bass guitar due to to its beautiful appearance

gonna do a re-visit to this bass now that i'm not inlove with it like i was when i first got it. nothing new here.
Would've prefered string-thru body option. The bridge allows it but they just didn't drill the body holes, kinda lazy...
Matte finish gets polished up from playing after a while. The back of my neck and where i rest my thumb look like gloss finish stains or something similair.

With My big amp it sounds good. (Yorkville xs800 + AshdownMAG 410, http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k308/altering/AmpBass-supergood.jpg ) Practice amp sounds like crap. It can sound warm, but i find it's really sterile if you solo the bridge pickup. Sounds kinda empty alot of the time, the EQ does give you some control though. Jaco tones are easy to achieve, so are Geezer Butler tones.
Slap tone is pretty good.

meh, it's okay in this department, I'm sure if i spent the time and got it proffesionally set up again i'd be really happy with it again. For really low stuff (drop 2 steps down) it's really really buzzy, even drop one step is kinda buzzy.
i've tried to get the action low but couldn't aviece as low as i wanted to.

Already talked about the finish getting polished.
Performs well at gigs, stays in tune etc, etc.
I've replaced the strap buttons with some locks.
hardwear is sturdy.
honestly i'm surprised i haven't dented more than i have.

now that i've grown older, both in ability, and in my tastes, i've grown to dislike my bass a little. I'm looking at getting a jazz bass or a stingray pretty quick. Found the G and D to be kinda tinny and thin on this bass, with the E string having only okay definition. The A string is fantastic but 1/4 simply doesn't cut it.
If it were stolen or lost i'd be really sad cause i never got any money from selling it, not that i plan to. I'll keep this for playing metal, and get another bass for other things.
I think i may try and mod it to play strictly downtunings.

2005 30th anniversary, active EMG pickups with eq controls, neck thru body, mahogany, flat black finish

This bass sounds awesome, the active EMG's are killer for metal. I'm playing it thru a Peavey 300 watt 15" combo with a 2-10" extra cabinet and the sound is full and booming. I had to turn down the high eq on the bass and on the amp to suit my taste, but you can find any sound you want with the great range it has.

Built in Korea, inspected in USA. Everything was great with the set-up, no need for adjustments. The bass feels really comfortable and the painted neck is very fast and smooth. The flat black finish shows the oil from your fingers more than other finishes and takes a little more work to clean up.

I've only had this bass for a few months, but it feels really solid. You could rely on this bass w/o a backup. Since I got the B-2005 I havn't played my old bass (Ibanez ATK 300)

This bass was only made in 2005, if it were stolen I would definately replace it with the new model the B-500, which is exactly the same except it doesn't have the 30th anniversary logo. This bass seems best suited for metal, but with the wide range of eq controls could be used for any style. I just wish it came with strap locks, not that there's anything wrong with the stock strap buttons, I just prefer the locks as a precaution.

2005, made in korea and inspected in the U.S.
24 frets, 35" scale, ebony fretboard, neck-thru, 5 piece maple/walnut neck, mohogany wings, active EMG's with 3-band eq, matte black finish every where (neck is sooo fast!), grover tuners,
body style is both generic and distinctive. same shape as B-404 (pretty sweet bass aswell). Like almost everything out there it absolutely DESTROYS fender bodies. I can't stand Fenders, they should all burn in hell!

O My GOD!
this baby thunders with the active EMG's and mohogany body. it suits my style perfectly! if you're a metal bassist like me who's looking to anchor the low end of your band, look no further! with the 3band eq you can get a plethora of sounds without touching the eq settings on your amp. no complaints what so ever!

can't really comment on the factory set-up, as i told the place i picked it up from to set it up for me. came equipped with GHS medium Boomers.
the frets say 'extra jumbo', but should actually say 'extra tall' only. i wish they were ALOT wider. they seem kinda sharp as it is.
i also think the logo on the headstock looks extremely cheesey, but i can live with it.

this bass is built like a tank. everything seem extremely solid and durable. cant complain at all!
as for gigging without a backup... thats just stupid! you don't want to look stupid dancing around trying to put a new string on if you snap one. if you also need a completely different tuning then another bass is nice (obviously not necessary though)

been playing for 2 years, this is my second bass. my first was a piece of crap starter kit bass (hartke). No regrets in this purchase. i love the looks, the sound, the feel... i love everything. the matte finish on the back of the neck is probably my favourite part, besides the active EMG's. the only thing i don't like are the frets and the headstock logo.
I make money at an extremely slow rate, so i took the better part of 6-months looking around for a new bass. i was originally torn between a Cort artisan c4z, and an Ibanez EDB 605. as soon as i played an ESP B-404 i new i had to get this bass. the B-2005 and B-404 are almost identical except for the finish's.
if this bass were stolen, i'd hunt down the sorry bastard who stole it and cut his throat open. this bass is to commemorate ESP's 30th anniversery and is only in production for the year of 2005. if i couldn't replace it, i'd probably get another ESP, either a B-404, and F-255 or maybe a TA-600 (SLAYER!!!)
UNF***ING-BELIEVABLY AWESOME
