I got the see-through Cherry red ESP B-204, with the excellent active electronices, rosewood fretboard and maple neck. I gotta admit, one reason I love this bass is the light body and fairly narrow fretboard (I don't have Fender-wise fingers!). It fits easily on the body and is not hard to wear for four sets. bought it new and unused from a dealer for $425 shipped off Ebay.

sound is outstanding. The 3-band equalizer on the guitar makes small changes to the sound on stage easy. I play this through a SWR Workingman's 4004 amp and a big ole Peavey 18" woofer bass bin. The guitar sounds greater on the mid-level settings and can easily have the highs or lows punched up without distortion. I did have a buzzing problem on the strings, but i think the settings were poor and took it to a techie. Sounds great now. This is the best sounding bass I have. I mean, I know there are better sounding guitars, but for the money I paid for this, it can't be beat!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
some string buzzing, as I mentioned. The body itself is gorgeous. Love the finish on this thing. Love how the model number is embedded into the fretboard. Nice touch.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Damn durable guitar. Everything tight, everything solid. real nice.

never used them.

I've had a Fender P-bass in the past. I also use a Dean. I think the ESP is superior for really modern music. I would say that I prefer my Dean for playing some of the older songs, with the fatter bass sound, but my band mostly does modern stuff. If you want a great guitar and can't buy a top of the line, this would be your giutar.

This is a 2002 or 2003 Korean made ESP B-204FM, 24 XJ frets, Basswood with flame maple top, Electronics = Volume, balance, ESP ABQ-3 active EQ. Two ESP SB-4 soap bar pickups. 3 band active EQ. Neck= 5-pc maple-walnut/rosewood. Finish is natural. Body style kinda like a precision. Bridge style ESP string thru body BB-04. Tuners ESP gold satin. Neck medium scale. I bought it without the case "on a budget" will get one soon though.

I am a guitar player and I needed a bass to finish pre-production on my songs. The only other bass I have played was a Rick 4001, this compares equally or better to that, for alot less money. I am using it through my guitar stuff, POD 2.0 on POD clean patch to Lexicon MPX-200 delay to Rockman stereo 12 band EQ's, "it sounds great through this stuff. The active EQ and pickups give you a wide variety of tones, although the high band EQ makes alot of noise through my guitar stuff so I just turn it off and adjust EQ at the POD or EQ's. to compensate

The action was set way high, I am no tech but I lowered it to the standard 3/32nd at the twelfth fret until I can get it to my tech for standard new instrument setup. There is quite alot of buzz all over the place but I am sure my tech can fix this, because this thing is made so damn well, "Maybe the Korean who set it up was out on a bender the night before he set-up my bass. The naural flamed finish is awesome, and the neck is a unfinished maple-walnut/rosewood laminate with a six screw bolt on. Tuners are tight, stays in tune well. I got the natural finish because some of the guys here said the black finish showed fingerprints, and I didn't like the cherry finsh one.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This thing will probably look just as great 20 years from now as it does today. Another advantage of the natural finish is that you get the gold satin finish on the tuners, knobs and bridge.

I wanted to talk to one of there techs about the action, but they just reconstructed there website, and the "tech help" isn't up yet as of july 16th 2003. Limited lifetime warranty.

If this was an american made bass it would cost at least $1000. I hate taking money out of our economy, but I could never afford a Bass in that price range. I bought it online so, I compared it to the Peavey Grind only. I went off of the reviews here, and these guy's didn't steer me wrong. I am very glad I got this one.

The natural stain is amazingly beautiful and durable. 2000 Model.

I bought this after I was in a store looking at cabs and I fell in love with it. My amp is a piece of trash, one of the cheaper Carvin heads, but this bass sings out wonderfully when I play shows. Sound varies depending on the setting; I love to boost the highs and lows for concerts and the mids sound really good for recording.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
It plays so damn well, I love the action.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Never had a problem with it and the battery hasn't died in 2 years. This is a solid bass.

Haven't needed it.

I've played many Ibanezes, vintage and new, and this by far blows them out of the water. I like shorter, smaller basses and thats what got me hooked on Ibanez, but after this bass I'm hooked on ESP. I would definately buy another if it were lost... I mean look at the price. It plays better than a $800 Soundgear!

Picked my ESP up in December, so I've had enough time to give it a proper review. So here we go, I think it is a '97 or '98, 34" scale, 24 extra-jumbo frets, very comfortable neck. Just thin enough to be able to move around quickly, and still thick enough to grab onto. EMG 35-Hz P/J pickups, volume, tone, high & low controls. Mahogany body, Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard. Standard bridge and tuners.

Sound : 10
I've been playing for 7 years, and mostly straight ahead rock. And it fits that perfectly. I play through an Ampeg B-2 w/ a SVT210HE extension cab. It is not noisy at all, no humming even with all the controls maxed. And this bass has a great deal of variety, with a quick turn of the knobs I can go from super-growling low-end, to sharp highs for slap/pop.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I don't know how they come from the factory, got it used, but the previous owner had it setup perfectly. Intonation was dead-on, action was at about a medium height, no fretbuzz. Pickups were at the right height, not too close, not too far. Everything was solid.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I haven't gigged with it yet, but I can imagine it will hold up. Once again, I bought it used, and the finish was still in perfect condition, not even a belt scratch on the back. I've replaced the strap buttons with Schaller strap locks, gotta have 'em. I would bring a backup just in case... it got ran over by a truck or something, but I can't imagine it would fail.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to call them, hopefully never will.

Overall Rating : 10
I really love this bass, it does everything I need it to and more. It looks great, is built remarkably well, sounds fabulous. I have no regrets in this purchase. I tried many other used basses in that price range, Fenders, G&L, Cort, Ibanez, Yamaha, etc. Nothing compared in the sound I wanted, the feel I wanted, and the look I wanted. Can't beat it.
