Well, I`ve owned and played this bass for a few years now, it`s a 24 fret, agressively shaped 5 string bass guitar. Two emg active pickups, 2 volume knobs, 1 treble, mid and bass knob. With these controls you can shape your sound extensively - My rig consisted of
a Carvin R600 head, a peavey black widow 15" and a pair of 8"s for rehearsal and gigging.
I mail ordered mine via american musical supply - It came in a hard shell case and a crappy 1/4" cable.

I used this bass in 2 bands: the first was a death/speed metal band and then I gigged with homogenized pop rock group. I never had any problems finding the right sound...people like to dis the EMG active pickups but they sound GOOD! It`s not a super high end pickup, but it`s not garbage either...LOW noise, very transparent and adaptable sound...VERY VERSATILE!
Action, Fit, & Finish

This bass is built like a tank and I`ve dropped it on many occassions in a drunken stupor. Decent black finish but it`s quite vunerable to the belt buckle scratches and normal wear but here`s my philosophy "instruments are designed to be played, SO PLAY IT...they are not decorations you hang on your wall". This bass has a great neck, it was even in tune when UPS dropped it off, although the action was a little high for my taste. By the way, you can set the action fairly low...i seem to notice the G string can get some fret buzz around the 5th fret if you drop it too low.
This bass has great action, very fluid and fast with a mahogany neck, ebony fretboard - It has a heavy but really nice feel to it...almost empowering.
Reliability/Durability

I have rehearsed on average 3 times a week, a show once a week, for 2 years on this bass...NEVER any problems, always stays in tune and rarely needs any adjustments. NO problems with the output jack being lose, or any parts comming lose. It`s built very well, I even like the stock strap buttons (they are a little oversized so you can drop your bass down around your knees if you felt like it).
I play this bass almost DAILY, it goes everywhere with me and I never had a backup or needed one.
The single drawback: Batteries, this thing will eat 9 volts - especially if you play a lot like I do. Keep extra batteries with you.
Customer Support
:No Opinion
I`ve never had to call customer support and I`ve never had any warranty issues.

Awesome, VERY solid, sounds good but looks a little wierd.
I really like the 3 band parametric EQ, very good sound!
If it were lost or stolen I`d probably get something a little less wild looking (like a fender bassman), the body style is a tad agressive looking for my taste.
before this bass I`ve owned a fender bassman and an Ibanez SR885...The ESP reminds me a little of both my old basses - the feel of a bassman with the high tech sounds of the SR885 but WAY better executed because Ibanez is and always will be garbage. ESP builds a quality product!

To start, its a Korean made Bass, Active 3-band EQ, and EMG Pick-ups. Its also got a 24 fret next which is really nice, rosewood, maple neck, with an mahogany body(I think) or alder, either way it rocks. The last this is it came with a ESP Deluxe Hardshell case

I played mostly Metal when i bought it, but now my interest have turned to Jazz and still some metal. The sound it so boundless on this bass. It can have a fat jazz tone, then with a turn of a few nobs, be a metal machine. Saying this bass was a steal for 599 is a understatement.

Finish was great. Gun Metal Blue is nice, althought, the blue is nothing like the ones on my guns, its still very nice and metallic. The action very low for a 5 string, and there was no fret buzz, so I was very very happy with it.

EMG's and active 3-band EQ onboard, neck playability is great, balanced weight good. Bass keeps getting better more I play it. I have played a few places with friends with it, held up great. I even bumpped a few things with it, not a scratch.
