34" Heritage Cherry Sunburst Finish, Maple Body, 2 EMG (?) Humbucking passive pickups. 22 frets. Sealed tuners. Made in Korea.

Good 'rock and roll' style bass. Bright sound with tone control up, which unfortunately generates a lot of unwanted pick-up noise. Would be nice if it had a toggle to switch between pick-ups instead of Vol/Tone for each pick up.

Bought used, needed a proper set up, E string buzzed around 2nd fret. Now acceptable with a moderate to light touch. Hardware seems solid and well built.
Headstock very heavy. Tiring to hold.

Build quality is solid, finish is above average for a bass in this price range.

This is my 3rd bass, have played on and off for 10 years. For my next purchase I will probably get something a little more flexible in terms of the sounds it can produce, and something a little lighter, with a shorter neck.
Fantasic looking bass, good 'rock' tone. This will mostly likely be replace with an American made Fender J or P bass within the year.

This is a beautiful bass! My les Paul special was Manufactured in Korea. it has 4 strings. 22 medium sized frets. There are 2 select humbuckersin this baby. There is no pickup select just 2 volume and 2 tone knobs witch can be a pain when trying to change tones and sounds on the go. The finish comes in Cherry sunburst (very cool looking under stage lights). i have no clue what tuners there are because i orderd grovers when i got it. IT came with a cable and tools. but needs way more colours.

I play everything from punk to heavy metal to old rock. the les Paul has suited all the needs of my type of playing. I am playing its on a mesa 4 cab (200 watts). and it has the low growl of the E-string to the fancy work of the G string. This guitar is great for stage and studio. I have played Numerous times live and produced 2 albums with this bass. There are no dislikes about this bass.

The factory default action height was perfect to my likeing. There were no flaws in this bass.i still think it should come in more colours though!

This bass has withstood live playing. The hardware seems like it could last forever. the strap buttons kinda came loose but its probly from jumping, but very easy to repair. i would use it without a back up.

I'm a 5 string banjo player but got a bass guitar gig. I bought the 4 string 1999 Les Paul Special used with padded gig bag for $300 the day I got the gig. It was in excellent condition. I replaced the strings with a set of medium Gibson Thunderplus. One of the tone knobs was loose but that was easy to fix. I like the maple neck and rosewood fingerboard a lot. Very sturdy. Also like the appearance. Very cool yet somewhat understated. Volume and tone knobs work well. I had a problem with staying in tune but solved that when I tightened the tuners.

Not sure uf this was a factory set up 'cause i understand that this instrument was used professionally by a local rock group but it was adjusted very well. I just had to go around and tighten everything up before it was ready. Not surprising for a used instrument. No problem with buzzing at all. Action a touch high but no problem and probably results in the beautiful tone I'm getting. Fit and finish flawless. I particularly like the way the neck is finished. Probably some sort of an oil finish. Just smooth bare wood to the touch. Not covered with a lacquer like many guitars.

So far so good. I'm plyaing 5 shows a week with it at the moment. It looks very rugged and reliable to me. Time will tell.

Two EMG Select humbuckers; black hardware; two volumne and two tone knobs; 34" scale; 1.65" wide nut; bolted maple neck with a Rosewood fingerboard; trapezoid markers; no binding; maple body with Flame maple top; comes in Heritage Cherry Sunburts or Vintage Sunburst. I would give Epi a 10 on features, if they'd included a pickup selector switch. I don't like having to manipulate the volume controls to change the sound/pickups.

This beast plays pretty good. This is my first bass guitar after 20 plus years on the guitar. I do have trouble with the low E string going dead around the first three frets. There is also a signal drop when going from the low E to A strings during a run. It might just be me adjusting to a bass. If I could fix the signal drop and dead spots on the low E I'd give it a 10.

This beast was used but in very good condition when I rescued it. The action seems to be at the factory setting and I have no trouble with it. A few blisters at first, but that's to be expected making the switch from guitar. The finish is nice, the flame is a bit larger than my Epi Ace LP. No near as pretty, but still very nice. I haven't had the same Epi problems that my Ace LP did (i.e. top strap button coming loose or the input jack coming loose). This is extremely headstock heavy. Taking your hand off the neck results in an immediate drop. The first time was kind of scary because I've had strap buttons come off and the headstock hit the floor. Epi would get a 10 if it weren't so headstock heavy.

I haven't used this live yet, but it seems that it would be reliable enough to use without a backup. The overal construction seems to be built to last. I upgraded the strap buttons to some locking Dunlops, a change I recommend on all instruments.

Since I picked this up used I don't have a warranty. I haven't tried contacting Epi regarding this. I did contact them regarding my Ace LP and they passed the test with flying colors. I had no problems with them at all.

First up I give Epi kudos for making the Les Paul shape bass. The Gibson version is a bit too pricy for a guitars needing a bass to lay parts down for demos. I've held back getting a bass because I don't want to fall into that Fender world. I won't say anything bad about the Fenders, they just don't work for me. I'm a dyed in the wool Gibson man. Other than the headstock heavy it appears to be a great starter bass.
