I recently got this bass used for a decent price. It has a beautiful exotic topwood made of ambrosia (similar in appearance to spalted maple) and an ash body. It has 24 frets and a 34" scale, which I believe is standard for a four-string FBass.
The preamp is a well thought out tone production tool. There are no bad sounds and the tonal range is virtually limitless. Pickups and preamp are proprietary and unique to FBass. There are so many things that could be said about the preamp alone, but I'll just say that it's the kind of thing a bassist will really need on a gig. All the hardware is top of the line too.

Sound : 10
The thing I love about this bass is how many roles it can fill, musically. George did a wonderful thing and created a bass rooted in tradition, but with an electronics package that can deliver just about any vintage or ultra-modern tone you could need. The possibilites are amazing.
If you can get your hands on one I suggest you find the best amp you can and spend some time with the preamp. The playability will be a non-issue when you find out how incredible the neck feels and how comfortable the bass balances.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The fit and finish are superlative. The neck IMO is the best in the business. It has a satin finish that really feels great under your hand.
One minor niggle is that there is a gap between the neck and pocket on the 'E' string side of my bass. It might affect some of the vibration from neck to body, even though it might be miniscule, I'm one of those people who like everything "design perfect". I might take it in and see if it can be shimmed laterally.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This bass was made for gigging. The neck is as stable as they come, even though mine is a one-piece. All hardware, except for the knobs, look sturdy and ready for use. The knobs are beautiful; they're made of wood, but they where machined rather inaccurately and wobble all over the place. They do feel a bit delicate. Maybe this is just on my bass.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't used yet.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing a long time. This bass is the answer to all my gigging woes. If stolen I would cry, then I would hire a gang of ne'er-do-wells and raggamuffins to hunt down the bastiche who took it and slap him around a bit, hold him ransome and take the cash to bribe the police and buy a new FBass. It's simple, really.

Sound : 10
big big sound ,..big big pickups,.. born for slapping and funky playing but they'll shave the neck for a few bucks and you've got a sweet, fast machine ,.. great tone and sustain all the way up and down the neck..no need for complicated any thing just dial it as bright as you need and go ...neck feels great,..had to deal with some fresh oiling for a while but thats cuz i had the neck shaved ,...sustains for ever,.. did i say forever ? .. just try one!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
set up is great ,..took it back once and george furlanetto himself gave the neck some tlc ( it had bowed just a touch from spending a winter in a bag),..took it in and it received instant attention,..and they gave me a hex key and a quick lesson in neck adjustment, but hell ,this things like a mercedes and i wouldn't try to fix one of those either,...

Reliability/Durability : 10
should last forever , large strap buttons,as said above.. neck had to be adjusted once- mainly because of neglect,..sounds just great just ask anyone thats played one,...they do cost a pretty penny, but you really do get what you pay for ...

Customer Support : 10
the f bass people are the best.. just try em !! any thing you need they will look after you.. after all they have one of the finest basses on the market and matching reputation to uphold .this they do very well.. as mentioned above this is a lifetime instrument , and i believe that the warranty will last as long as you ( or anybody ) owns the bass ,.

Overall Rating : 10
i know it sounds like i was paid to write this but i'll tell ya ..i walked into the store , picked it up ,hit it once with my thumb, pulled out my check book and never regretted it.. i have a few basses ( dean , fernandes, bc rich, ibanez, washburn)but this one is the obvious flagship,..legend has it that george furlanetto actually bought back a bass that dis-satisfied its owner( hard to believe though), if thats not dedication , then what is,..just try one and then.. just buy one! ,it'll be one of the few perfect things in your life,..

4 string fretted, Bolt-On construction, 3 piece quarter-sawn maple
Fingerboard Maple with 22 wide oval frets and 34.5 inch scale length, Ash body Transparent Red finish, F bass custom made hum cancelling soap bars pickups, Hipshot bridge and Gotoh GB70 Tuners,
Electronics Active/passive system, controls include bass, mid treble or 2 volumes and a tone control.

Sound : 10
Sound is full, warm and sings forever, in either passive or active mode. Speaking of the active passive system, well, it's great, very flexible and very transparent sounding. The active mode is just an extension of an already great sounding passive instrument. You can switch from passive to active very easily, just pull the tone knob and you're in active mode. The bass is noise free and has one of the best shielding jobs I've ever seen. The active system is a F bass design, no aftermarket stuff in here, pure F bass and pure tone.
I can't say enough about the tone of this instrument, except to say that when I use my F bass people notice a difference and that includes my band mates.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The bass itself is without a doubt one of the most playable basses I've ever had the pleasure to play. It balances perfectly sitting or standing, it's light, the neck is absolutely a masterpiece of design and I'm able to pull off licks on this instrument that I simple can't on my other basses, simply put, it feels right in every sense of the word. Fit and finsh are top notch, a work of art.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Rock solid!!. Will last for years .

The best I've ever seen.

A truly magnificent bass that is both wonderful to play and wonderful to hear. A MASTERPIECE.

It's expensive especially for a new one, but you do get what you pay for.
