This is an early 2k model handmade by George Furlanetto himself in a limited run that he no longer makes (last I heard). This model is called the L5 and is under the name GFC (George Furlanetto Custom). Made in Canada like the 21 frets (smaller vintage style), More of a traditional jazz style body shape and made of a solid piece of heavier ash, The electronics are the same as the BN5 model but the pickup placement for the bridge pickup is slightly different and appears a little closer to the bridge as the BN5, The neck has a more slip profile to it compared to my BN5 but is the same 34.5 scale length. Same Hipshot B-style bridge as the BN5 models. Great Autumn-Burst Finish on this bass.

Honestly, for my style of playing, I can't find anything I dislike about this bass. It does have a brighter sound overall than my F-Bass BN5 maybe due to the heavier ash body. This bass sounds better and plays better for slap. I'm not sure if it's due to the 21 frets vs. the 22 frets on my BN5 but I do notice that it is much easier for me to slap on the L5 compared to my BN5. I have been using this bass with my Euphonic Audio rig and my Genz Benz rig and I am always able to dial in a great sound. Great solo sound when favoring the bridge pickup. I love it.

It's an F-Bass and when it's handmade by the man himself (George Furlanetto) you can be sure you are getting quality throughout. The only thing I would change out is the Gotoh GB-7 tuners because the Hipshot UL tuners hold tuning better (slip less).

I don't like to give all 10's but honestly, this bass is about as good as you can get. It's versatile, sounds great for multiple styles of music and is build to last. What is missing?

keep in mind that all of my basses are bolt on and most are the Ash/maple combination. I found what I like best and bass my opinion off of my personal tastes'. I have been playing for over 15 years and in a wide range of styles. This bass has been used for Rock, Funk, Blues, Reggae, gosple, Country, etc. and it has never let me down. I love the body and neck shapes, it's really too bad the George stopped producing these basses. If this bass was lost or stolen I would BEG George Furlanetto to make me another. They are hard to find so good luck in finding one of these gems.
