Features : 10
34 inch scale 5 string bass sporting a five piece maple/walnut/chechen set in neck with a white korina body and a cocobolo top. Electronics are Bartolini soapbar pickups and an Audere preamp.

Sound : 10
Unplugged, the bass has a very nice acoustic quality which serves as a promise of things to come. Amplified, it is warm yet still posseses sparkling highs. This bass has tons of usable tones (thanks in part to the Audere preamp). I play everything from straight ahead jazz to heavy metal, this bass would be at home in either setting.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This bass is extremely light weight and comfortable, so much so that when strapped on, it feels more like a part of you. It is very well balanced whether I'm sitting or standing. It's construction is absoulutely flawless and the oil finish is quite possibly the glossiest I've ever seen. As for the action, it couldn't be set any lower! This is most certainly a player's bass!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've only had the bass a few days, but I know enough about instrument construction where I can honestly say this this is a very well constructed instrument in both it's woodworking and electronics. I don't forsee any issues with it at any point in the future. All of the parts are top notch, from the Gotoh tuners right down to the Hipshot bridge.

Customer Support : 10
Matt is a pleasure to deal with. He most definitely knows his stuff and his website is very well laid out and informative (he even posts photos showing the progress of your bass as it's being built!) He responds to emails very quickly and most certainly stands behind his instruments.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for over 30 years and own or have owned everything from vintage Fenders to Foderas. FBB basses are a class act all the way and hold their own against any other boutiqe bass in terms of playability, construction, and sound. Matt is currently building a six string for me, I can hardly wait!
