Customer Support : 9
Niente da obbiettare in proposito.

Overall Rating : 10

The 70's USA reissue jazz basses are just plain sexey. With a number of about 500 produced in each flavor.
They were available in Lake placid blue,Olympic White and Candy apple red, with matching headstock just like some of the 60's model jazzes.Get it Red,White and Blue. Anyway, I added a 2003 Oly white to my collection of Fenders. It has the rosewood board with the pearl inlays and an alder body.It has the correct fender decal(unlike the newer 75 reissue) however fender did not put the finger rest on these reissues, which is no big deal to me.
I don't have a actual weight on this bass but it is quite a bit lighter than my 77 jazz.
I had bought this bass from a guy who had been givin this guitar by Fender to shoot a video, so it was in like new condition. With all of the unopened case goody's hangtags, manuel, registration card and a bonus of two extra pickguards.

Sound : 9
These basses are like the orginal funk machines which they were produced for.
They have that bright yet full sound, with plenty of mid tones. Not as warm as an orginal 70's but close.
I play through a Ampeg SVT and preamp,with a 4x10 top and a 15 bottom.
The standard for great sound heard on many tracks throughout the years.

In my opinion the fender factory setups have not been up to par for quite a while now.The great fender basses produced by Leo and his group of luithers is now a thing of the past.
Corperation with investors want mass production for a heathy bottom line, in which we the consumer now must suffer.
Any newer fenders i have seen are in need of some
kind of adjustment.Don't get me wrong, the FMIC (Fender custom shop)
do a great job, but we are paying alot more for the same service Leo use to provide with all the guitars he made.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I'm sure as with all American made fenders it will withstand time and wear to fit like a glove.

Customer Support : 10
The last time i had dealt with fender, was when they were at the long gone Fullerton,Ca facility, and they were very helpful.

I have owned and played alot of different basses over the last 30 years. My very first bass was a fender, and i just keep going back to them. It's all a matter of fit and feel.

This bass is a gorgeously sexy looking Lake Placid Blue Jazz bass, with matching painted headstock, rosewood fingerboard, and striking abalone block inlays. I believe the body wood is alder. The neck profile is slightly more slender than my '76 J-Bass, and the frets seem thinner. The bass overall looked absolutely gorgeous. All the usual accessories were included, ashtray, pickup cover, strap, cord, etc. except the thumbrest, which was strangely missing.
Also, the pickguard was stripped of the thin protective plastic and had signs of fingernail markings, scratches etc. So this little puppy was sitting at the store for quite a while, I assumed. Not good. I still decided to jump on the chance of getting a custom colour Jazz Bass, though.

It sounds like a decent jazz bass should, although it's hard to pass judgement until I get it returned to me and set-up properly. Pickups are mediocre to my ears, and will be replaced, probably with a set of Custom Shop '60's PUs.
It's extremely light weight, which is a huge step up from my 15 lb. '76 J-Bass.

I purchased this bass online several months ago. Until this point, I'd never had any trouble picking out a good sounding Fender and being completely satisfied with it's playability. Not so in this case. TRY BEFORE YOU BUY, PEOPLE.

I immediately noticed two things wrong with the construction of the bass:

1. That the string spacing at the bridge was waaaay off, leaving a huge gap between the fingerboard edge and the 'E' string and..

2. That the neck had a substantial bow, and right away I began the process of trying to straighten it. I've been doing my own set-ups for 17 years, so I know how to fix almost anything on a bass, or so I thought. After about a week of trying to coax the rod ever tighter to the limit of my comfort level and frustration, it was no use. The neck was a dud.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Typical Fender build quality.

As of this writing, the bass has been at a local shop for three months, while a new neck from Fender is supposed to be arriving any day now. I was the original purchaser, and even though I ordered from a store in California, all it needed was an inspection from a local Fender dealer here in Toronto to get the ok for a new neck under warranty.

When I contacted Fender Customer service about my scenario, they offered the advice I was looking for. Nothing more, nothing less.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I've been playing for 19 years. My rig consists of an Alembic F-2B, and a Hafler P4000.
As far as the bass is concerned, I guess I've been jonesing for a custom colour Fender Jazz for years, so even with all the aggravation and inconvenience, I'm hoping that this bass will end up being my main axe. I just wish I had the common foresight to ask someone at the store to do a proper set-up before shipping it thousands of miles out to me. This is something they should've done anyway, but it's always a good thing to remind them. But you live and learn. I'm offering no opinion at this point until I receive the bass with a non-warped neck.
