Features : 10
Everyone has already listed the features, so I won't delve into more detail

Sound : 10
With the S1 switching system, the Jazz Bass V gets the best of both worlds, Jazz & P Bass

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Factory set-up is excellent, Fender seems to actually give a shit about what goes out of their factory, unlike some other manufacturers. Finish was Flawless. I selected the Chrome Silver finish, & upon arrival from Musician's Friend, went over it with an anal microscope....FLAWLESS!!!!! No scratches, dings, blurs, blems, etc. Neck & frets had no burrs, finish on body & neck was even & smooth as silk.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Immediately put Strap-Locks on it, because why take a chance. Spend another $20 for a set of Strap-Locks. I would have no hesitations about taking this as the ONLY Bass to a gig. Only other Bass I still own now is my first one, a Squire Affinity cheapo learner, just because it was my first.
No Idea about neck/truss rod because it came prfect from factory, & I've only had the instrument for a little over a month now.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with Fender Customer support.

Overall Rating : 10
Havn't played bass for a long time, played Guitar for over 30 years, but just about every band I was in, the Bass player either sucked or flaked out, so I switched to bass because good guitar players are a dime a dozen, bass players seem to be the opposite.
If it was stolen, I would DEFINATELY buy another. I would try to track the thief down & torture him far beyone cruel & unusual punishment.
I compared it to all other Fenders, Warwick, Ibanez, just about any brand Guitar Center/Sam Ash had in stock. I bought the Fender American Jazz V Bass because everyone else seems to compare themselves to Fender, so, might as well buy the BEST.
I chose the 5 string because even though the B string is not used in a lot of music, it's nice to have it for playing up the neck to duplicate the E string between 5th & 16 fret.

2001 American Series (Used to be the American Standard) Fender Jazz Bass 5 String. USA made Corona CA. Long Scale 35". 2 Volume, 1 Tone control. Passive electronics. Maple neck, Rosewood Fingerboard. Satin finish on neck. Body is Black w/ White Pickguard. String thru body makes for GREAT sustain. Non locking tuners. A very nice Non Fender Hardshell case. This has stardard Jazz Bass features. I don't care for a Bass with a lot of features because it makes it harder to find "YOUR TONE" if controls get out of adjustment. I have a 1 1/2 year old grand son who loves to turn control knobs on my Bass and my amp. Get my point????

Sound : 10
I play on our Church Worship team and it fits like a glove. I use a SWR Workingman's 12 for a Church of 150 people. 100 Watts plenty of power. Not noisy if adjusted properly. Full and punchy. Key in to the drummer's bass drum foot and you'll be ok.....
I've owned a Fender P Bass Mex, Epiphone and a couple of Washburn's XB920's and this Jazz Bass is tops. A top notch professional instrument. Total Tone from Heaven. Sounds great for all the songs we play. I love the playability and feel of wide neck. The Bass is a bit heavy but not bad.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Had to do a complete set up to my liking. Action was too high, strings were wrong guage. Pickups needed adjustment. For a used bass I could find no flaws. The feel of this Fender Jazz Bass has given me new inspiration to play and practice. If justs feels right..in my hands. What a GREAT instrument. Way to go Fender!!!!!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I practice and play live and thats all I do with it. No backup, just some extra strings.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have a local luthier who takes good care of my instruments.

I been playing 41 years. I chose this Bass over a P Bass. I had already had my heart set on buying an American made Fender Bass. The only question was P bass or J Bass? I'm not into Active Electronic's Basses, so I chose a Passive one. The way I see it is ....why buy some other brand bass when the "Tried and True" is right before you. The Fender Bass has been around for many years and will continue to be the one that others are compared to. If it were stolen I would buy another the same day without hesitation.
Let me add this.....before you go out and spend a Ton of money on a "Vintage" 60's or 70's Bass take a real hard look at the newer Fender Basses. They have fit, feel, finish and Tone that is very positive. There are some nice old Basses out there but the bottom line is they are just that...old. Get out of the mind set that vintage is better. Although I do love Tube Tone better than solid state, hey nobody's perfect. Some thing's just can't be improved on.
