Fender BG-32

Electro-acoustic, short scale, jumbo-sized bass, no cutaway.
Comes complete with spare bridge, shims, & allen key.
Built-in Fishman pickup.
Bass/middle/treble/brilliance/volume controls.
Made in Korea.
20 frets - but without a cutaway I could never reach this high on any but the high G-string! Joined at the body at the 15th fret.
Natural finish (I don't think that there are there any others for this model, but natural finish looks great anyway).
Supplied with gig bag (shop also threw in a free Fender strap). Since replaced the bag with a made-to-measure Fender hard case. Would recommend hard case - very good build quality when compared to other generic guitar hard cases.
Not sure what strings are supplied, but now use Fender Phosphor Bronze acoustic bass .045 .055 .075 .095. I haven't found many other manufacturers making short-scale acoustic bass strings!

I was looking for the flexibility of an acoustic (no need to setup whole electric kit just to practice for a few moments), with the usual quality of an electric sound.
Tend to play rock / folk, with a few other bits thrown in. Guitarist in the band focusses on rhythms, so it's a good job that I am more orientated towards melodic bass lines.
Gives the rich, warm sound that I like, both acoustic and electric. Doesn't have the powerful sound you would expect from a bass at times ... but then again I don't run it through a true bass amp/speaker cab, and I may just need more practice with mixing desks.

Shop staff noticed a couple of frets needing filing when I was testing it ... but I couldn't spot anything, even when playing, so it must have been very minor problem.
No problems since, in past few years. Bridge is sound, pegs are smooth, and electrics are fine. No faults on body, well bound.

Had it just over 2 years. Home use only so far, but I have no intention of changing it at present. Can't see any reason why I would need to change it.
Can't imagine anything going wrong, and would probably gig without a backup should the occasion arise. (Then again, apart from a spare set of strings, I don't currently have a backup!)

Fender quick to respond to website/email query over the correct 'part number' for the product-specific hard case.
Local Fender dealers have also been quick & helpful at the time of sale, and again when buying the case.

There is not much range available in acoustic basses. Tried about three or four. It came down to this one or a Takamine model, but this just felt better and sounded right.
Highly likely that I would purchase another if it was ever lost or stolen, but I would also see what else is available at the time. You never know, there may be something better ... but it would have to be very good!
