Features : 8
Made in Mexico 2006
20 frets, four strings, active 2-band electronics for one single "Double Jazz Bass Humbucker", one doubledecker tone control, one volume, one active/passive mini selector.
elder body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard with white pearloid block inlays (hence the name).
black finish, chrome hardware
Came with a (rather useless) standard gig bag.

Sound : 2
I bought this Bass b/c I need both Precision and Jazzbass sound for my bands. This piece of junk delivers neither. I don't know wether the pickup or the preamp is to blame, but in active mode, the bass sounds cold and modern, regardless what you dial in. In passive mode the bass sounds woodier and warmer, but still too flat and boring.
This is no match at all for a regular precision or jazzbass.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Made in Mexico, so it depends on the weekday it's been made ;-)
Mine was handpicked from four models they had on stock, so it's flawless. If you order beware though.

Reliability/Durability : 8
No problems so far, but I had it only four six months and didn't play much with it cause I don't like the sound.

Customer Support : 2
Fender's support is useless, but normally you don't need them anyway.

Overall Rating : 4
I am now 27 and have been playing since I was 12. I play both guitar and bass and own a collection of the classics: Gibson LP, SG, Fender Strat and Tele, Fender Precision and Jazzbass. All standard editions with six/four strings, plain and simple.
At the moment, I play bass in both a Jazz/Fusion group and an Alternative Rock band.
For bass amplification I like it simple too: Markbass 1X12" combo, no effects. (Guitar: Engl Screamer combo, no effects)

The Big Block will leave me via e-bay sooner rather than later. If it sounded better, more like a Jazzbass or Precision, or I could dial in any sound I like, I would be happy to keep it. But since this is not the case, it has to go. The good looks raise the rating to a respectable 4.
