i love this bass.i got it second hand in the early eighties and still love it.it's great being short scale, 19 frets, came with a pissy single coil pick-up i changed to a seymour duncan p-bass set up.the finish i have is a transparent red, it;s lovely.also the bridge was a bugger to set up so i changed that for a badass fully adjustable unit. the neck is as good as i have played and the body is solid.

i have used this bass to play everything from hard rock to jazz and the sounds are great.i play it through a peavey tnt 115 bw, and they go well together.i have played it in working bands doing 5 gigs a week and it stands up very well.

i haven't touched the action since i got it .it was perfect and still is! the only flaws are the pick up and the bridge but the rest is beautiful.

Fender's Axe-dater system has placed my Musicmaster Bass as one of the earlier ones (1968-1971). 19 Frets, one volume, one tone, one single coil pickup. Maple neck, rosewood fretboard. I've played this bass ever since I was 5 (I'm 14) and my dad is the original owner. Everything is original except for the pickguard (it cracked). The main thing I don't like about this bass is the fact that there are only 2 saddles for 4 strings witch makes setting the intonation a pain in the neck. Also, it goes out of tune quickly. I do, however like the fact that it is a short scale bass. Short scale basses play more like guitars and are easier on the arms while sitting down than their longer scale counterparts.

I am playing this bass out of a 1972 silverface Fender Bassman 70 and a 1971 Fender Solid State 3x12 cab with blue line special speakers. I might set up a Boss DS-1 or run it through a Fender Sidekick Chorus 15 before the Bassman. It suits my playing style well, which is punk/ska. The shorter neck makes for much faster basslines.

The guitar has lasted well throughout the 27-30 years it has been in my family.
