The first review tells you what it was made out of. The main difference is that mine is only 21 frets and that the tuning pegs ware made by Goton, but all i can say i love it the neck is so smooth to play on i have played on ??1000 bass guitars that have felt and sounded worse than this that includes fender P-bass and Gibson thunderbirds (but i do owwn an epiphone thunderbird which sounds and plays better but thats cause i play alot of metal noww days)

Sound : 9
The sound on the Fenix is quite limited but the ability to change pick ups does give it some versatility but it has a smooth sound which can cater to most needs i played with it rock blues jazz metal(but not heavier metal main iron maiden and music like that)and it just sounds great studio or stage which i have tried both.

Oh when i first got this i used some cheap stagg amp lol and it sounded good through that then i replace that for a Laney it sounds even better!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
As you read from the last review its a very stirdy bass the number of times my strap came off and it hit the deck i cant count but only has a few dents in it and no reduction in sounds quailty. It also is perfectly balenced as i said before i have played on my more expensive bass guitars and had the neck to heavy or the body to heavy this is just right! The only problems is as it was used it costme ??120 but 1 switch cover was missing and the pick ups have abit of rust but they dont seem to care sound the business still!

Reliability/Durability : 10
As you read from the last review its a very stirdy bass the number of times my strap came off and it hit the deck i cant count but only has a few dents in it and no reduction in sounds quailty. i have used it live and wwithstands live playing well. the finish on mine is a white/cream (the colour probably faded) but even after dents the paint hasnt chipped this thing is magic!

Customer Support : 6
Ahhaa unlike the last review i have delt with the company i e-mailed the company enquiring about it and in under 3 hours(from japan) i got an e-mail back telling me to talk to there american branch but they don't have a website for non classical music instruments, chances aare if you own one you wont get a warrenty as it is second hand

Overall Rating : 10
I been playing for 5 years now and last year as i started to play mainly metal i brought myself a gothic epiphone thunderbird. When i first got this bass no it was my first and i played with it for 4 years non stop! If it was stolen i would try to get another one everyone that has heard this bass loves it! i had the lead guitarist of 1 of my bands wanting to buy it!
As i said my main love is the smoothness of the sound and the perfect balence you cant beat it.

As i said before i have compaared this ith a number of basses but this one is worth as much as any of them, if they were a larger company i reckon it would be as used just as much as the P-bass

BUY THIS BASS SEARCH FOR IT AND GET IT!

Okay, since this is the first review on this bass i'll go into details a bit further:

It's a 4-string bass 'fenix by young chang', so i figure it's made in korea. I have no idea what the model may be called; bought it used and basses by fenix are never mentioned anywhere on the internet... they just don't seem to exist.
it was presumably made in 91,at least that's what the serial# starts with.

It's got 22 frets, a single coil bridge pickup and a split humbucker at the neck
3-way pu switch, 1 vol, 1 tone knob
Good locking noname tuners
Yamaha-style body and head shape
The neck is made of maple, fretboard might be mahagoni(?),the body wood i can't figure out.
The finish is a quite extraordinary bubble gum red to pink with a sparkle effect...and the fretboard has pearl inlays

Got it together with a leather gigbag and a cable for 99,-

Sound : 7
I play indie, alternative rock and a bit of funk & blues, it's great for that. I haven't tried to play heavy metal yet,though..
I use a 60w behringer ultrabass 600 (a really good lowcost amp w/ 4-band eq,tone modeler etc) - and until i decide to buy an effects processor i loop it through my pc, which sounds surprisingly good with guitarfx box...

I own it for half a year now and i should definetly change the strings.
apart from that, the sound is quite decent: neck pu is very bassy & powerful and with the tone down, it sounds extreely funky and punchy.
Also, that pickup is totally quiet,

the bridge pick is a bit noisy and has more of that metallic 'rong- dong' sound you may know from the squier p-bass - but it's great for
punk songs, for example.

unfortunately, both picks together sound really weird, with no bass and even more 'twang', so i don't use the combination at all..

all in all the sound is really good for the price i paid, and although i'm a beginner, i don't think i'll buy another one in the next coupla years. it has great variety, especially with that flexible amp of mine.
but because of the noisy pick i'll give it a seven as well (since 7 points are usually what 'okay' instruments get here.. objectively it'd give it 5 points compared to a 10-point high-end bass and a 1-point piece of crap)

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
once again: it's a used instrument.
action was too low, frets buzzed. corrected it, neck is still fine, so is the intonation (or whatever you call it in english).
pickups were too high.
but considering its age it's in a very good condition.

Reliability/Durability : 9
it will withstand a lot. it has two small holes in the coating, but that wasn't my fault. it has survived some months in the hostile and dangerous environment of my room without further damages. well,as i am writing this, i notice that the bottom strap button is slowly coming loose..otherwise, the buttons great and would never release the strap.

Customer Support : No Opinion

I'm a beginner, playing for some months now -- so it's my first "rock'n'roll" instrument. i bought a great old used guitar ( '81 aria pro cs250)- also from ebay - and i seem to be quite lucky in those things...
in the unlikely case that someone comes across a used and cheap fenix bass, well, get it. i like used instruments- if you buy a new one, you know what you get- no risk, but also no fun...
if it was stolen, i would try to find something better for even less money, and that'd be impossible.
oh yeah, and i wish it had two white rallye stripes. i really like rallye stripes, you know...
