Great Bass - Currently for sale on Ebay 7-'05. Designed by Phil Jones in Gibson's Custom Shop in the early '90's. Modeled after the L5. It's a four string long scale with ebony fingerboard and a set neck. Two active Bartolini pickups with corresponding volume and tone for each. Single cutaway, two F holes, blonde/natural maple finish with a deluxe case. There are only a few dozen in the entire world.

Sound is unbelievable. It is one of the most versatile basses I've ever owned - and I've had them all! I have found it particulary suited to blues, jazz, and country. Its 3.5 inch deep body resonates beautifully. I use an ampeg amp and with a Hartke Bass attack. wow!
Jamaaladeen Tacuma used one for years and spoke about it in a Bass Player interview in the mid '90's.

I have used the bass in a live Blues Brothers tribute band for well over a year without a back-up and it sounds great. Prior to that it was my main-stay in the studio with Foghat's former guitar player - Erik Cartwright. I've received nothing but accolades when I use it.

I have never had any cause to contact the company because I never had a problem. The warranty is still in the case.

I've been playing bass for more than 35 years and I've pretty much had everything from '65 Hofner Beatle Bass, the original Gibson eb-1 violin bass, Fenders, Ricks, Martin, Gretsch, and others. The EB-750 has been one of my favs. I'm giving this one up for an ns design upright. I like to keep my inventory turning around - and besides, you can't take it with you. No regrets. I feel honored to have had the good fortune of being the proud owner.

I fell in love with this guitar about four years ago, without realising how rare it was. Then it was #1800 second hand although I bought it for #1250. It looks like ES 175 jazz guitar (twin F holes, single cutaway, deep body) but with four strings. Bookmatched maple, ebony fret board, active with two bartolini humbuckers, gold hardware, floating bridge with trapeze tail piece. It is absolutely gorgeous.

Incredibly round and plummy, but when driven hard can have a really tight attack to it - incredible range, but always with a warmth to the note. Sustain? there is just SO much I have to do a lot of muting to keep over spill down.

the build and finish is superb...and was set up by Martin at The Gallery in Camden. As usual, it plays like a dream and has a very quick, almost Jazz like neck - odd with such a big body...but it works

the Bass is as new although it was made in 1990 - having said that it has obviously been much loved and came with the original case...apparently the Bass player in Hole bought the only other one I have found online, so presumably they will be giving that one a bit of a more testing time than me.
Yes i WOULD GIG WITH IT WITHOUT A BACK UP. (SORRY CAPS STUCK!)

I asked Gibson about it and they were not too helpful and basically just retold me what I had just told them...they did tell me it was made in 1990 although it looks a lot older and that it sold for $2500 then, so it was obviously aiming at the high end of the market.

I have been playing for 25 years on and off. I would buy another if it were stolen although I have only ever seen this one and found one online in the US. If anyone has another let me know keithtemple@hotmail.com. and I might buy another. I have custom built 5 string Sei Bass, 77 RD artist, 62 Jazz, and the big old EB 750. all run through G-K gear.#
I would LOVE to know how many they made and to hear from anyone who knows more than I do about them...
