Mine is the natural satin finish over flamed maple & mahogany. Looks great; we'll have to wait to see how it ages. Trapezoid inlays look way cool, IMO.
TB & mini-humbuckers, V-V-T controls, & 3 point Gibson bridge makes this a short-scale hot-rod! Big Fun to play!

This is NOT an EB-3! The neck pickup only LOOKS like an EB pickup. It is a Thunderbird pickup under a different cover. And why not? The Thunderbird is one of the est sounding basses of all time! This SG Supreme doesn't have all the power & punch of a T-Bird; it lacks the long scale & neck-though of a T-Bird, bot it does have a lot of "The Tone"!
The mini-humbucker is only small in size. It is HOT! And a very good choice for variety with the TB.
I am not a fan off the V-V-T set up. I'll probably replace the middle volume with a Gibson-style 3-way switch, & have master volume & tone. I just think that's a faster way to get to the sounds I want.

I don't understand folks complaining about intonation &/or action right out of the box. I never leave the factory strings in place, & setting intonation & action is just part of the job when changing strings.
The bass played well enough out of the box that I knew it was a keeper. With a little work, it drives like a sports car.

Will the satin finish hold up? Will it look better or worse as it ages? Don't yet know.
Strap buttons - NEVER trust 'em!
Never taken a spare bass to a gig, but always carry spare strings.
This is a Gibson bass that should last a lifetime. You could wear it out, but it would tale a LOT of gigs to do it, an awful lot of gigs!

Gibson has always treated me like royalty! All customer support should be this good!

I collect Gibson basses. Love 'em, love 'em, LOVE 'EM!
I do a lot of recording, & have a couple P-Bass types for routine bass work (a G&L L-2000 & a Warmoth P-J). When I want a cut to stand out, I grab a Gibson! All my bass heroes played Gibson basses, including Jack Bruce, John Entwistle, Felix Pappalardi & Jack Cassidy.

I bought this from the States and it shipped to me in Australia sight unseen, and I've only had it a week or so. I had read a little about them, and really liked the idea of using a smaller bass on stage and the thought of having a Gibson was pretty appealin! Mine is a 2007 build Flametop Supreme Bass with a 301/2 inch scale. It's got 2 humbuckers (the neck p/u is a mini HB) andjust simple tone & volume pots. The case is also lovely, as all Gibson cases are.

It's got a big and warm tone, plenty of grunt but not too "boofy" if you know what I mean. The tonal characteristics are good and can be quite bright (which I like sometimes) when I need it. I run it through a Line 6 guitar distortion modeller and then a EH nano bass balls, into a Genz Benz Neopak 350 and 6 x 10 ported cab. It's a big enough sound for me! I have a Ric 4003 that has tremendous sustain - this doesn't compare in the regard however.

The factory set up was good to go for me. It could use a tweak, but generally it's nice and low and the action is fast. The pick ups seem well set up as well. The finish is really smart, but there is a small rough patch on the side of the neck facing up to me as it joins the body. I can live with that.

It's only new to me, but I suggest it will be fine. The small scale should make it easier to handle, espescially on small stages. My only concern is as metioned by another reviewer - it has the classic SG neck heaviness and so I feel like the strap may pull off the neck lug at any moment. I am installing strap locks.

I have 4 basses - a 1985 Steinberger, a 4003 Ric & Marcus Miller Jazz - this is a grwt addition to my collection because it is so different. I hope to use this as my main live guitar. I am really happy with it - espescially the sound as it is really full and quite dynamic. The neck weight is a bit of a concern ut I'm sure I will get used to it. I have seen a pic of a white one - that looked lovely! Try playing one if you can.

Made in USA 2007
Short scale bass
Natural finish

The finish on this is a cross between a custom made bass with the classic SG shape of the original cranberry colored '61 re-issue. It is comprised of three different woods. A beige maple back with a set neck, a lighter colored wood sandwiched between the the back and the stunning white/zebra face. Absolutely beautiful. Gibson's guitar of the week Jan. 2007. Limited edition of 400.

The sound of the '60's. Beautiful full sound. Perfect for garage, punk, blues. It has a belly tingling low end. It really fills in any sound. I am very impressed with this bass. It is a bit pricy.... hey it has Gibson on the headstock. I chose between this or a Ric. I am satisfied with my choice. This ax is light and small but roars like a lion. Get one before they are all gone and being sold for much more on e-bay.

The factory set up was just fine for me. There is some space on the higher notes. No fret buzz. The neck is super fast. You want to play a million notes when you first test it. Slow down. No flaws on the finish. The bass is made in the good ole USA. You helped an American keep their job. This is important to me. The case is beautiful. It can probably be brought on board an airline. It is small scale about the same size as a regular guitar. It would probably fit in the overhead or at least under the seat. I plan to try this out soon.

This bass is solid. It will withstand any type of play. Jack Bruce used to beat the s**t out of his. Mike Watt's SG looks like it has been through a war yet it still works perfectly. As with any bass, cheap or expensive I would recommend strap locks. It would be hard to hurt this baby, but you don't want dings and scratches on a $1429.00 investment. I always have a back up bass just in case I break a string, but this is out there up front. It looks really cool much better than the run of the mill Fender P bass. A vintage shape with a custom modern look.

The bass comes with I think a one year warranty. I have not had to contact Gibson. No reason to. I have had this bass only a few weeks. My first Gibson. I also own an Epiphone Viola and a Jerry Jones. Both are cool for certain sounds and looks, but the SG covers that really rich tone that I seek.

Been playing in garage bands longer than I want to admit. I love the bass. I became hooked when I saw my first live band as a teenager and the bass tickled my stomach. The bass holds everything else together. Bass players are often the Rodney Dangerfield of the band. All in all when you want to shell out some bucks for your dream bass, consider this, but don't wait too long.
