Very versatile bass. Nice punchy sound with controls set flat. I like to set the neck pickup to get a good fat sound and dial in the bridge pickup to add cutting tone as needed. Best suited for rock, pop, and R&B. It can hold its own in just about any kind of band setting, but wouldn't be my first choice for dub or reggae. Very precise tone, good sustain. I've heard warmer basses and would find a mid boost/cut handy, but that said, sounds good whether playing fingerstyle, pick, or slap and pop.

Bass was set up very well. I actually purchased it on-line as new old stock from a music store in San Antonio and had it shipped to Huntsville, Al. Bass arrived without needing any adjustments. I honestly can't find any flaws in nine months of playing it.

This is certainly a dependable bass, a great workhorse. Schaller bridge and tuners are definitely heavy duty. Finish is great, shows off the wood grain nicely, and holds up well. If you play out a lot you'd probably want to add straplocks -- strap buttons are a little small (similar to what's on a Rickenbacker). Have only had to tweak the truss rod once in the nine months I've had it. I would have no problem using it without a backup.

I've owned several Godin basses (see my review of the A-4). It comes with a one year warranty, but as with my other Godin gear, I've never needed warranty service. Local Godin dealer technicians are great, but I've never had to deal with the manufacturer. So guess I'll give a neutral rating.

I've been playing bass for about 16 years. I bought the bass on the reputation of the Godin instruments I've owned and have not been disappointed. Currently, it is my main bass, with a Godin A-4 fretless for acoustic applications. I would buy one again in a heartbeat if it were stolen or lost. I love it's versatility and quality. It's relatively light, well balanced, and the neck feels great. You'll probably want to add straplocks if you gig a lot. Other than that it would be nice to have a mid boost/cut and a pop up battery compartment, but these are very minor points. It's a keeper.

It's got 22 frets (pretty big ones), a bolt-on neck, and a neato transparent red finish. It's got active elctronics, 2 emg pickups, a master volume knob, an active variable midrange sweep knob, and an active treble/bass boost knob. I have no idea what kind of wood it's made of. It's got a non-string thru body bridge, and nice non-locking tuners (had it 2 weeks and haven't had to tune it once!).

It's got a good sound. The versatile controls allow the sound to go from ground rumbling to brittley bright. I personally think it's got a good sound for playing stuff by geddy, though my friends all disagree with me. The variable midgrange thingey gives it a good sound for slappin' and poppin', though I personally can't stand these styles. Sounds really weird with overdrive. Like a bear with laryngitis. This might just be my tiny amp, however.

Buzzed a bit at first, but it's got no other flaws.

Tis a fine instrument, suitable for any style. If it were lost or stolen, I'd be screwed, because I couldn't afford to buy another. I do wish that it had 2 volume knobs though.
