4- String, 20 frets (not including nut), bolt-on one piece neck with rosewood fingerboard, three-piece body under the nice flame top, active P/J style pickups, volume, treble and bass controls, satin finish, sealed proprietary tuners.

Sound : 10
I was trying out basses with my son, tried this one and we both liked the sound without even plugging it in...very resonant. Responded well to slapping, plucking, and finger style playing. Sounded great plugged in as well. They are pretty simple control-wise, but can produce a fairly wide variety of sounds due to the pickup configuration, warm and bright and punchy as needed. It is fairly quiet too.
We are mostly into funk, fusion, rock and jazz, and the guitar can cut through the general frowst of a rock thrash, has good harmonics too, sustain is good but not fabulous. Recorded well for my son in demo situation.
Currently have a Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0 on an Avatar 410 Neo cab, a Carvin BX1200 head, and a Gallien-Krueger Backline 115 with an Eminence Neo speaker, Two rack-mount compressors (Symetrix 501 and Rane DC 24),Aphex 204, Mutron Pedal Flanger (vintage!), Boss x-series digi-delay, Peavy BAC 2 Chorus.

Not sure if the set-up was enhanced at the music store prior to it being set out for sale, but it was set up about right, front pickup was high enough to contact the bass string when playing vigorously, had to dial it down as the metal poles were causing string-dive and clacking sounds. Once that was done, it played great, neck nice and buttery and very consistent. Overall fit and finish is nice and tight. This is not a flashy looking guitar, though, more subdued but tasteful and nicely finished, top has a subtle figure due to the dark color and satin finish. back of the neck is satin as well, has a smooth and frictionless feel. edge of the fretboard is a mite choppy where the fret cuts are, but you don't seem to notice that when playing. Neck fit is tight all the way around where it joins the body.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Have had no problems at all in the year or so since we bought it. It is a light bass, yet it feels solid. The hardware shows no sign of wear after hard usage, has not failed in live use,no finish wear yet either. Does not show fingerprints etc. like my BC Rich Warlock (pretty finish, but, dang!)
Jack nut came loose right away, and needs tightening from time to time...will try loc-tite. Strap buttons tight, smooth tuners, neck stays very stable, have not adjusted it so far. There seems little to fear as far as reliability, don't carry a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No experience with customer support, have not needed any.

I have been playing for 30 years with breaks for hand surgery, my son for about 5 years and he is kicking my butt!
We have all four-string basses,Traben Sun, BC Rich Warlock neck-through, Ibanez Soundgear, three Peavey T-40 basses (custom fretless, custom fretted, my old stock bass), custom Wishbass fretless, Fender Power Jazz, Kramer Duke, Modulus Flea bass, Dean Artisan hollow-body, and I just picked up another Godin Freeway for myself ($189.00 used!!)...obviously we are impressed with the Freeway, that price was the silliest steal I ever committed, as they are worth way, way more than that!

Features : 10
2007 USA / Canadian
20 fret
Solid mahogany body, rock maple neck
Dual godin soapbar pickups
Satin finish
through body or bridge strung
godin pegs ( look like grovers )

Sound : 9
Very nice bass with a range of qualities. Purchased this bass after having a long ownership of a Fender jazz ( custom shop ) and at first
took a while to get used to the neck. As others have stated a combo
neck in that a very old style P style near the body and a more jazz like at the nut. I tend to agree. I have had a love affair so to speak with jazz necks but am beginning to have one with this axe as well. One of those necks you start to play and have a hard time putting down. Satin finish and as many say " plays like butta".
In the area of sound this has a range of tones due to the pickup
system employed. The dual godin soapbars have a very wide range where set up one can acheive say a rick, alembic,to a more mellow range and tone of say a P bass or jazz.( even simulated an old
guild starfire with proper setting) All in all very nice bass
and quite a sleeper..

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Factory setup was fair. As many have said they need to get someone who can do a better action set. But again here this is true of so many instruments. In the finish department quite a sweet finish with a very tight fitting neck and easy fretboard. The canadian end of these is downright sweet. Looks like the Godin team has some very good luthers as from other reports I have read and agree here.
Bridge and tuners are very good. I would say grover built pegs and similar bridge good and average as say on so many upper end basses, would be nice to see say schallers on an upgrade version..
One of the few drawback would have to be the electronics as mentioned by some other reviewers. Action and feel are good but would like to see something closer to high end pots. These are fair and probably average for an axe in this range but look to have them changed out after a while. Tone system appears to be similar to a
Bartonlini but not ( I checked )...

Reliability/Durability : 8
Feels very solid and with reasonable care should last a long time.
Bridge, tuners, knobs are of the range to see in say a bass costing a fair amount more.

Customer Support : 7
Have had no dealing with these guys. Seems like they should be good for any needed work.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing 35 + years and have been through the ranges.
Rock. soul, reggae, fusion jazz. Have gone through the phases and presently soul fusion jazz oriented. Have had many basses, a lot of Fenders jazz, precisions, a few gibsons, and one of the more noteable a 67 guild starfire.. The only reason I bring this up is this bass has some of the tone of that axe ( anyone remember Jack??) As for this it is not as fast as say my jazzes but does not need to be.
Like I said earlier could be a bass of many styles ( maybe not as much of a reggae bass, more mid oriented for that), one hell of a sleeper and one I am keeping with my basses . Nice to see a new name in town..
