Godin 2001 SD5 Bass made in Canada and the United States. 21 jumbo frets with rosewood finger board. Solid body bass with transparent finish. Features PJ setup with two volome and one tone control. The pickups are passive with Godins very own design. The neck in maple with a four bolt design connecting the body. The body style is very close to a tradition P style Fender Bass. The tuners are similar to what you would see on a low line US made Fender. The neck is a fat scale ver easier slap movement. The bass came with a hard Godin Case.

I play gosgel rock so it works will with bues and solid rock sounds. I play with a Line 6 POD that directly feeds a PA system. It is extremely quite and produces a solid low sound. It is limited for slap bass and pick bass playing styles. I like that it looks and plays lake a Fender US made P 5 String. For $500.00 this bass can not be beat. If you are playing blues or rock this bass is a must see. If comes with a case and looks great. Godin is hidden secret that needs to get out. It limitions a similar to what you get if you purchased a Fender P bass.

I had to work on the bass for a few hours to finally get the sound I wanted. About one month after owning the bass, the coil on the P pickup fell through and I had to take it back to the dealer for repair. It was covered by the dealer so it was quickly repaired. I have had no problems since then. The neck is a little to wide for my likings, but I do have small hands. I love the sound this bass produces and wouldn't change a thing. I

The bass is very solid and durable. The case is very cheap that came with the bass and it already showing lots of wear. What I paid for the bass I am not complaining about he quality of the case. I had to replace the strap locks that come from the factory because they were small and did not hold the strap on currectly. The only problem I have had was mentioned in the previos paragraph.

This bass is a great substitute for a US made Fender P Bass. If you want the Fender P bass sound but don't have the cash check out a Godin bass. You may have to wait if you want one, because they usually take three plus months to get out of the fatory. The guys at Rock City got me one in two months (Miracle).
