Mine is a 2003(?) NOS model, G2232. Never seen this model number in any Gretsch catalogue, but it was on the shipping box so I'm assuming it's the follow up to the G1232.
Same features as described below, Ebony burst colour which is so subtle it's only visible in very strong light. Looks a bit plain, but purposeful!

I bought this to use in place of a Fender Japan 50's re-issue Precision. With its two pickup configuratuion I was hoping for a greater variety of sounds. I'm not disappointed! For a cheap bass with no-name pickups, and before I'd checked and adjusted the setup, it has a wonderful warm, woody tone using the neck pickup. Switch to both and the sound fills out even more, great thumping sounds available. Finally switch to the bridge pickup and you get more clarity and a lovely snarl to the sound, rock on!

Bought from a seller on Ebay, I believe it was a NOS bass, no playing wear evident, plastic covers still on the pickups and surrounds.
Nicely put together, very solid construction but lighter in weight than the Jap Precision. No obvious finish flaws, good tuners, smooth and appear to hold tune well.
Action, bit dodgy to start with, it may have moved in shipping from Georgia to the UK. Very high action which needed a couple of tweaks on the truss rod and lowering the bridge saddles to get it somewhere useful.
The neck is beautiful, smooth satin finished maple, hand friendly profile makes it comfortable to play all night. Cheap looking knobs and iffy pickup switch will be replaced by newer Gretsch items. It's worth putting some money into this bass as it will be a keeper.

In transit from USA for 2 weeks, received on a thursday, put some Fender flatwounds on it and gigged on friday. No problems, good solid feel to it. Tuners, bridge and pickups are great for a cheap Korean bass. The pickup switch cut-out once but will be replaced shortly.
With the other adjustments I've made I'm looking forward to some great gigs with this bass. I bought it to use as a backup at first to my Precision, it will be moving up to be my gigging bass of choice from now on.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Bought on Ebay, no warranty from seller, none needed as it's a solid bass. The model number G2232 doesn't appear in the old Gretsch catalogue so I'm not expecting any help from Fender/Gretsch.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for over 25 years, as a regular gigging bassist for the last 6/7 years.
This has been added to my collection of Fender Japan 50's reissue Precison, DeArmond Starfire semi-acoustic bass and Gretsch G5265 Baritone/Bass (check out my review on that one, another great guitar).
I've been very impressed with the quality and playability of the two Gretsch basses I've bought. This one was so cheap on Ebay I thought I'd take a chance, it's worked out great and I now have an excellent gigging bass with a wide range of tones available. Played through a 500watt/15" Ashdown combo it gives me everything thing I need from a bass. If it were stolen I'd be gutted as it would be almost impossible to replace it with another one.

Mine is a 2001 new old stock bass, 34 inch scale 21 Frets, 4 string.Solid body, black 2 Humbuckers, 1 Volume 1 Tone and 3 position switch. Passive electronics. Maple neck w/rosewood fretboard. It is a single cutaway almost les-paul looking body, but flat on front and back.Standard Fender style bridge, enclosed tuners.

Sound : 10
It suits my style just fine. I'm 52 and have been playing since I was 15. I play any style of music that hits my mind. I use a Behringer 300 watt head with a fantastic Len Moskowitz bottom with 1 10" speaker most of the time. And I also have 2 other cabinet combinations, 1 set with a 12" and a 15" w/Pyle pros, and a 15" Ported road scarred black wood cab.w/ports and a 18" ported JBL in an old black painted wood cab. I can get just about any sound I want from this guitar and these speakers. It's not noisy at all, has good sheilding inside. From warm to bright, it will make great sound.

The bass does not come set up real well. I did an intonation and string height adjustment, but I think any guitar comes that way. You have to rely more on the individual dealer to do a good set-up.But I don't trust anybody but me ,to work on my guitars. The pick=ups had to be raised slightly. The bass is made very well. Everything fits great, the frets are great, the body has a great finish, and I like everything about it. The nut, however, has some sharp edges, that will need to be rounded some. And the switches little handle was a bitch to screw on , but that is all I would have to complain about.

I would have to say, that it is built like a Cadillac. Good chrome, good solid feel. Nice finish, good parts fit. I may at some time, change to a heavier bridge, but it's really not necessary. The neck is straight as an arrow, and looks like it will stay that way, much better, I'd say than any I've ever owned.I like it better than any Fender I've ever played. The only one I think I ever liked better was my old 61 T-Bird.

I haven't dealt with the company, and probably never will now, since they were bought by Fender. This model is no longer made by them. It seems they've used the name to go to all really high dollar models only.

Overall Rating : 9
If it were stolen, I would have to load my pistol, and go hunting, cause they don't make these anymore.I love the solid feel of this bass, it just fits me right.I like it's simplicity and it's sound, and feel, it's action and neck are great too! I like the simple body style, and the ability to go up high on the fretboard with ease.
