This accoustic bass guitar is one of Guild's first. Manufactured in 1977, it has a solid spruce top, solid mahogany sides with a laminated mahogany "arch-style" back. Has a short scale neck, 21 frets and a rosewood fingerboard. The headstock is huge (I love it) with an inlaid Guild logo. This guitar is equivalent to Guild's current B30.
I don't believe that the guitar had a pick-up originally, but now has custom "piezo" pickups.

I searched for an accoustic bass guitar for about 2 years before finally finding this beauty. All others were "blah" unless plugged in. I wanted a true accustic that I could play with a few pickers without being plugged in - this bass really does it well. The sound is big, warm and fat - nothing duplicates an upright but this is as good as it gets in guitar form.

This Guild is built like a tank. It's been "around the horn" and I play it a lot, on and off stage. Haven't had to adjust a thing since I purchased it.

I have only called Guild once, to find out when it was made and found the staff quite amiable and answered my questions quickly. I have never had to speak with them about anything else.

I fell in love with this instrument as soon as I looked at it. I would never part with it. I sold a lower end Spector to help come up with the funds to buy it and as much as I like the Guild, I sure do miss the flexibility ease of playing that comes with an electric. Don't consider this bass if you are looking for comfort. But if you want big fat accoustic sound I don't think you'll find anything better. Any musician that sees and hears this bass absolutely loves it. If Guild's current B30 is similar to this, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it.
