no matter what anybody says the hamer slammer bass is excellent for the money, its short scale and reminds me in some ways to a ebo by gibson or epiphone,i started playing it right out of the box without any adjustments, its easy to play and sounds good through my amp,if i say what brand i use people will whine about that too,the tuners are good, body style is cool, ive got the black one, looks good.i play bluesrock [cream, trower, travers, zztop etc.

Sound : 10
like i said im into blues based rock and it does the job just fine,i dont use outboard effects..just the ones in my amp[gain, compression,eq] i get a jack bruce sort of tone from the bass and the amp,the bass has 2 volume knobs for getting different tones from the 2 soapbar pickups, turn one volume down and your useing one pickup, turn the other down and the other one is heard..very simple.it has a nice tone and i use the tone knob to get even more variety.i wont mention the amp im useing or all crybabies will ***** and moan that it sucks too,no matter what you play through you have to tweak it to get a good sound.i like this bass, its better than the epiphone ebo im opinion which cost more than this bass.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
i havent adjusted anything on it..it plays fine

Reliability/Durability : 10
i have jammed with people useing this bass,i was told "youre a good bass player" the finish is very nice and shiney,id like to get another one in a different color just for variety, hamer has about 4 different colors that are all eye candy.yeah id gig with it.the hardware is decent for the price, good tuners, bridge, strap buttons.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had a problem with the bass, you cant throw your equipment around and expect it to last, take care of it..itll last for years..it aint a toy.

Overall Rating : 10
ive been playing guitar over 25 years and had high dollar equipment and cheap equipment..this bass is very well made for less than $150 bucks,i was surprised.i like the shape and feel and sound of this bass.

i bought it off a friend so im not sure on all the specks, i got one with a short 30' board. nice pickup, had issues with the output, had to rewire. was okay afterward. was fairly new so it shouldnt have needed to be fixed. not sure if hamer is to blame or my friend. two pickups, black finish, rosewood board. a very sharp looking guitar. low action.

Sound : 9
I really think it's a great begginers bass. Its helped me alot. Good quality. I love the company. rounded notes, not so much jazzy. although the G string of mine makes an odd ringing noise and I havnt done much to figure out why. could be the string itself. They avnt been replaced yet.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
low action. adjusted fine, didnt need to do any adjustment on it. Like i said, some rewiring, and the G string makes a noise, but im not sure if either one of those problems were related to manufacturing issues.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Very reliable, after it got fixed. Very solid. It's capable of many things.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to deal with them yet. i did alot of the stuff on my own knowledge. Hamer is a good company and is very helpful, from what I hear.

Overall Rating : 9
Like I said. Great for beginers, good quality. I think nobody should have to start out on a walmart series.

I purchased the Special Bass with 30" neck. I have Short fingers and this Bass allows me to reach all the frets. Big sound from a stubby Bass. Color selection is limited. I purchased a second and had it painted..

Sound : 7
Sounds good to me. I have been playing out with it. Real throaty good for classic rock

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7

Mine is a model CP-4/BK, which is a fairly basic 4 string bass, 1 pickup, 1 volume and 1 tone knob. Made in Indonesia. Black paint and white sparkled pick guard. I'm actually a long-time guitar player, but this is my first bass, I just wanted something to lay down some bass tracks in my home studio.

Sound : 7
Sound is great, no complaints. It would be crazy to compase this guitar to a $1,000+ instrument, but for my purposes this bass sounds great. The tone knob takes if from very mellow to bright and spanky. No noise from the pots, but this bass is brand new, so time will tell.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
No complaints for the price. I just had to raise the strings a bit to get rid of some buzzing. As far as build quality, the neck is in the right alignment, the strings are aligned properly, etc. Intonation is good. One of the tuners is a little loose, but tuning stability is not affected. It is obviously not a high-grade instrument, but you're not paying for a high end strument, either..

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Time will tell! At these prices, I'd probably just buy another one if this ones dies, or get a more expensive bass if I end up playing a lot. (I haven't picked up a guitar since I bought this bass, haha!)

Not sure of the age, but I'd guess it was made sometime around 1998. Pretty much a basic P-bass, but very very satisfactory for the price. Finish is a durable sparkle red with a pearl pickguard. Looks pretty nice. A single humbucking pickup produces a fairly good sound. Tuners are good quality and the bass rarely ever loses tune. The jack comes loose sometimes but it's nothing that can't be fixed in a few seconds.

Sound : 7
Bad grounding causes a little bit of hum when not in contact with a metallic part of the bass, but I've never gotten around to fixing it. Overall, it has a variably sharp and warm sound. Comparing it to a high-end Ibanez and a Squier, I prefer this one's sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Bought it used so I'm not sure how it was set up originally, but the action was set fairly low when I got it, and I left it there which works well for slapping and general use. No flaws that I can see aside from some very slight rust on some of the metal, which was probably from poor storage.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Very durable. Heavier than a Squier or Ibanez. Never have to adjust the neck, and like I said earlier it stays in tune very well. Been playing it live for over a year with no problems.

On the whole, a great bass for a great price. Unfortunately, it was stolen about a year ago. I'm hoping to find another one but I haven't been able to locate one thus far. I'm thinking I might just spend the extra money and get an Ibanez.

Very inexpensive first-timer p-bass. All the standard bargin basement hardware. It's a 1 volume knob 1 tone knob bass. very stable tuners and bridge though (more on this below)

Sound : 8
Pretty damn good sound for such a cheap bass. This was my first bass about 6 years ago. It sounded good to me then and now that I've heard other p-basses to compare it to I would say that it can contend with basses in the $600 range.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Over the years I've changed the thing so many times to experiment with what I'm most comfortable with. When I first got it the action was pretty high and stiff. I've since changed to be very low so that I can get a gritty sound from it to make it sound a little more agressive. The finish is nothing spectacular but what do you want for $150. I haven't had any problems with the neck or body. To me it's a light bass but a couple of my friends think it's a little heavier than fender basses. I really don't care cause I think fender is complete ass.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Let's see I got a new bass about 2 years ago and put this one in the case to rest in the closet for all of those two years up until about a week ago when I pulled it out again. I was very impressed that it was still PERFECTLY IN TUNE! The electronics are a bit cheap though. My pots need to be redone to make a good connection again. Not a big deal though. It only takes 10 minutes to do.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never needed it

Overall Rating : 8
overall this bass is very solid. I wouldn't tell anyone to expect to much from it because after all it is a first-timer bass so I rated it likewise. If you had a choice between a squire p-bass and this one I would most certainly go with this one. After all with fender all you are buying is the name. If this bass were stolen first I would think "what the hell did they steal it for you can't even get enough for drug money with it?" Then I would be pissed because it does acomplish an aggresive sound that is pretty good for dirt cheap and then I would buy a Gibson thunbird and lower the action on that. after all I'm not a beginer any more. But I would still want my old bass back!

I kinda get a buzz on the frets a little bit, but besides that, it's got a surprisingly good sound for not being really really expensive

Made in Indonesea, standard amount of frets, four strings.
It has a volume nob and a tone nob, I dont, however, like my pickup configuration, standard precision pickup, it's kinda hard to bust out that hardcore emo sound or clanky bang for punk. It has a black finish with a pearloid pick gaurd. Precision body, Included an amp, cord, and a gig bag.

Sound : 8
I dont like how it suits my personal tastse (emo and punk) but what can I expect for 300 bux with an amp and stuff. I don't like the fact that is too loud when you turn the tone to a certain spot. Very bright sound. However I have had it for three years and it's sound is diminsihing. However when I put plastic coated strings it sounded much better. Without upgrades its a 6 - 7

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
no coment, too sad!

Reliability/Durability : 3
Once again, not too strong here. It sounds really crappy now after just three years. The strap thingy keeps coming out, as well as my nobs.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 5
If it was lost would I buy it again? NO!

I hate this thing, I would much rather go with a Thunderbird IV! Even if it where an Epiphone

i have a 99 or 2000 4 string slammer bass and its my baby. i love how it doesnt look like the techno stuff ibanez is doin and how it has the low action. the knobs are master volume and tone but my amp does most of the treble and presence and stuff.

Sound : 9
THE SOUND IS AWSOME. i love how you can turn the volume all the way up and make it loud without it sounding bad like other guitars can. you can turn it all the way up and its not annoying. i have a zoom effects pedal and thats pretty cool. you could make it sound fretless, jazzy, slap, and some of that echo stuff where it sounds like 3 basses instead of one. to me its more of a studio but if youre on stage this bass will really put sound out there.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
the whole factory stuff is great with me because i dont play with a pick. ive tried using a pick and i did end up hitting the pickups a couple of times ,but other than that, if you play with your fingers then its perfect.oh, and the metallic red rocks.

Reliability/Durability : 9
i can depend on my baby. he'll never let me down. i need to get new washers for the tuners because the others i took out when i first got is about a year ago and i was a stupid kid and didnt know anything about bass.but now im smart.
