I did not like the sound of the original pickups. I changed to EMG DC and a Glockenklang onboard preamp. Now it's a 10.

Very nice to play, but string spacing is quite narrow. So it's a matter of taste. I am using Thomastik-Infeld strings.

Thomann is a pretty good shop.

It's my first step to a 6-string-model. I don't think I need anything else.
I came to 6-string when I tested a Yamaha Patitucci Model. It's a class of its own, but too expensive for me. So the HB is a good alternative.
If it would be stolen, I would have to look for something else because it is no longer offered at Thomann's.
Don't have the B-string through body! The sound is much better if you fix it on top single bridge.

i bought this lovely piece of kit For a mere ??235 in february this year after trying the Harley Benton HBB600TBK, Which I still have, and like it so much I have trouble keeping my hands off it. It has a mahogany body topped with birds eye bubinga a five piece thru neck and is strung through the body giving loads of sustain. The machine heads seem solid, the bridge looks like it could be strung in the standard way as well as through the body. the neck has a nice "D" shaped profile, is extemely easy to play and is well balanced with the body. Hold it in one hand and you will realise just how heavy this beasty is, but once it is around your neck it's just like any other comfortable bass guitar.
Two Humbucker EMG style pick ups connected to " pickup pots, a volume pot and a bass boost or cut pot. Beautiful looking bass.

I play in three bands with varying styles ranging from Blues to heavy metal, Whilst it might not look the part in a metal band it get's the job done. I have small hands for a bass player and the challenge of using a 6 string is easily overcome and worth the initial fumbled notes.
Amplification wise, I use an Ashdown ABM 300 EVO II 1-15 combo for smaller venues and an Ashdown ABM 500 EVO II with A Behringer BA410 and BA115 Stack with switchable tweeters for larger gigs D.I'd thru the PA. I find that these rigs allow me to use the full range of this bass to it's full potential. You can go from really bright, lead guitar challenging trebles right down to earthquake brown noise bottom not missing a single thing on the way through.

What can I say? Everyone that see's it admires it. It did everything just right, straight out of the box. I'm sure those guys at Thomann (great internet site) must have had a little tweak before they sent it on to me. Being a through neck, and a very nice one at that, you don't have to worry about how many ferrels, screws or what type of back plate, it's just all part of one big beautiful thing. I'm still waiting to find out what the catch is. Maybe it'll just turn into dust one day!!!! still not a ??1500 Bass so i can't give it a 10.

Every thing has seemed good and solid to the extent that after it's second gig when nothing had broken or dropped off, I stopped bothering to take a backup bass. Even to the extent that on one weekend in june this year I played with 2 bands on the friday, another band on the saturday and yet another band on the sunday without even bothering to look at the guitar between gigs and with no backup bass. I have a fair bit of faith in this guitar.

This guitar came from Thomann, it's a shame that women don't come with the same money back guarantee and 3 year warranty. thomann are a pleasure to do business with, I would recomend them to anyone, i've already pushed all of my friends in their direction. it's is really a shame that they don't supply women...............Hey, i've just had an idea.

I've been playing bass for about 7 years now and to complement my HBB6000 I also have a Hohner B2A 4 string bass, a Tanglewood Warrior FHII 4 string and 2 (yes really) Harley Benton HBB600TBK 6 string basses, one of which is about to be customized and hopefully even better than it already is. A Harley Benton HBB500FLTBK fretless will be joining the flock very soon as well.
When I offer fellow Bass players a chance to play one of my 6 strings, they tend to shy away mumbling things like "No way man, Tooo many strings. When they offer me a chance to play their basses I always say Yes. I've played Fender Jazz's and precisions, warwicks, gibsons, Yamahas etc. most recently I played an associates Rickenbacker 4003, somewhere on the ricky there has to be about ??700 worth of something to justify the price difference, But I couldn't find it!!!! The HBB6000 is a Great Bass, trust me, I'm a Doctor.
If someone stole it, I would hunt them down like a dog until the replacement HBB6000 or upgraded equivelent arrived
