It's a standard p-bass really, split coil pickup, volume and tone, the bridge is very chunky, maple bolt on neck with a maple fretboard (which is such a nice change from always having had rosewood ones), I've got no idea as to what the body is made of, but it's really nice and has more curved edges than a Fender. I don't know where it was made, but I've been told that it was made in 1987, which would make it the same age as myself! It was white but has faded into a gorgeous cream and has a few knocks, but I'm not complaining.

It sounds completely different to both my other basses which is always good. It's very warm and well balanced for the high strings (my Epiphone EB3 is a little lacking on the D and G strings) and just sounds smooth. There is a little crackle when you turn the tone pot to about half, but I'm sure that could be sorted out. I'm using it with my Marshall guitar amp at the moment because there wasn't enough room in the car to bring my bass amp when I went off to uni, which is a shame, but it still sounds really good.

This bass is 18 years old, so I wasn't expecting it to be in impeccable condition, and the few knocks it has are just part of it's charm. As I already mentioned, the body has turned a wonderful creamy colour. The action is really good and low to the fretboard. Most of the hardware has survived very well from what I can tell, although the pickup has a bit of rust on the magnets, but it still sounds great. I'm giving it a 10 because of it's aged charm.

I think this bass will be absolutely fine for gigging, it looks like it probably was gigged a bit, and it's still fine. I've only had it scince this morning, but I really can't see that it won't last and I hope to use it for many a year.

I've been playing bass for 5 years (6 come february!), guitar for 3 years and I've got quite an array of gear now. Bass wise I've got an Aslin Dane Jazz Bass copy, an Epiphone EB3 that I use with my Trace Elliot Commando 12. I'm really pleased that I managed to get this bass, it's great, I would have ended up with a modern p-bass copy if I hadn't got this one and this turned out to be cheaper than the competition anyway. I love everything about this bass, especially the fact that it's the same age as me and I can't wait to play a gig with it. Just need to get a drummer now...
