I love this bass! I got it used for about 250 and i has all the features in need (Which is not much). I love the active/passive switch, but unfortunatly my tone selector is broken.

Sound : 10
This bass suits all the styles I play except for anything that requires slaping, it doesnt do very well on that for some reason, but its a perfect bass for all most styles.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I have no clue how old this bass is but for being beat up and "loved" by its previous onwer it still looks great, just needs a few minor repairs.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This thing will not die! I've droped it quite a few times and it still works perfectly. It must have been used for at least 5 years before i got it; i've only had it for 2 years and no damage.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I don't know. I got it used. In my oponion it doesnt need a warranty.

I am using a Peavey TKO 115 with this bass and the sound is really good. I would love to have anyone email and tell me more about this bass as I really not familiar with it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Love the way this Bass feels the neck is easy to navigate and the finish on this Bass is outstanding

The quality of workmanship is overall very outstanding, I think it will withstand about anything you want to give it!

Now for the Bad news, the customer support needs alot of work. I aquired the Hohner Professional B Bass B second hand. It was different from all the other B Basses that I have seen as it had no drop d tuner and no toggle switch. I contacted Hohner and they seemed confused on the issue. After several days I had to re-contact them and they refered me to their guitar tech that has been with the company 20 years! After being promised that he would email me soon four days passed and again I had to email them. Two days have passed and still no answer. In the mean time I have found out this Bass was made about 1996 and only has passive pickups. Not a problem at all for me as I still think it sounds fantastic! Good luck if you ever have to deal with these people, as I said the bass is great the support.......well it sucks!!!!!!

Overall Rating : 10
I love this bass it turned out to be a good find, and quite possibly worth more than the price that was on the tag. It really plays well although I had to shim the nut up slightly to get rid of a little string rattle.

I am reviewing a 1996 Hohner B Bass B. I bought this bass new. This is the bolt on neck version of Hohners B Bass. It is made in Korea. This model is no longer in production. Hohner opted for a PJ version called The B 5000. The B Bass B is a Jazz type bass, with the bridge pickup offset. Other than the bolt on neck, the difference between it and the B Bass is that the B Bass B is passive only and it has a traditional bridge instead of the Steinberger detunable drop-D bridge that the B Bass. It is made from Califoria Maple with a Rosewood 24 fret, fretboard. The neck is a very fast thin jazz neck. It is very easy to play (I own a B Bass also and the B Bass B is faster and easter to play). It has a beautiful see-through blood-red finish on the body and natural neck. Tuners and bridge are crome and controls are black (2 volume 1 tone). Everythig you would expect from a passive jazz bass.

Sound : 7
I play rock, blues, and punk. This bass has that warm Jazz sound, not that P bass punch. I find myself playing it very hard for rock. It does sound very smooth with little or no excess noise. The bridge pick-up is a little weaker than the other. A great Jazz or Blues bass on its own. For Rock I use a ToneWorks Korg multi-effects to get the sounds I want.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This is one of the most easy basses to play that I have ever played. Very fast neck, very light, and very fun to play. I find myself using it insead of the B Bass I own because it has such a great feel. Like I said the bridge pick up is weaker, which may be due to an off adjustment. Finish looks great with no flaws.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is my backup bass, but I would not have a problem if I had to gig with it. I usually use it for practice and playing around the house. I've never had a problem with it. Neck never needs adjusting--but I don't play it to hard.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never delt with customer suppot. Never had to.

Overall Rating : 9
I own 3 other basses and this bass feels the best to play. If it had better electronics it would be the only bass I played. You don't see a lot of these anymore so if it were stolen I would probably have to replace it with something else. If you're looking for a Jazz bass and find one of these give it some consideration. For the price I doubt you'll find something better. It's hands down better than most imports in its price range. Much better than a Mexican Fender.
