This is a mid 90s model ... with a nice black finish and rosewood board. It has one volume and one tone what seems to be a series/parallel switch and a massive triple coil pickup in what can only be described as a "tele" style bridge with thru the body stringing.

I use this for mainly blues based music ... it has a punchy sound but being passive not quite in the MusicMan mold, but distinctively it's own. It will get nice and warm or pretty clicky with the treble rolled up. I use several different types of amps from a full 8x10 stack to a 8x8 single cab even 2x10 and even a 1x15. I use several heads too and usually set them for that Ampeg kinda sound.
I would say it is mainly a stage bass (at least that's what I got it for).

This thing (atleast mine is) nicely finished. Better than some I've seen for way more $$$

I got it to use as a carry anywhere bass no battery to worry about and I have maybe $100.00 in it. That said I think very highly of it and would replace it. I also have two of the top of the line USA made active ATK-304s

bought in 1999. 22 jumbo fret, 4 string, passive, humbucker (1), vol. + tone, coil tap switch, maple neck, body wood???, looks like a music
man, bridge or string-thru body, open-gear tuners, Sunburst.

I play funk, R+B, slap. Using Ampeg B100R amp, nofx. Quiet pickup,
coil tap doesn't change sound much. Gets a nice, round sound. Turn up the tone, and it gets bright and clicky, like a jazz bass. Not too much variety, but plays my styles of music very well. Great neck to slap on. Kinda wish it had 2 pick-ups...this would increase versatility greatly.

Great sunburst finish, looks like furniture. Came set up well, only the 20th fret on mine buzzes considerably. Also, a large flaw in finish on back of bass, doesn't detract from appearance much, tho.

Has held up well. I dropped it once, and the finish cracked at the jack. Now the jack wiggles a little (plan to fix it). Otherwise, has held up very well. Hardware seems very sturdy. Replaced strap buttones w/locking ones, now front button is coming out (so I glued it into place) Would definitely gig w/out backup.

played for about a year before I bought it. My teacher came down and recommended it. If stolen, I might buy again...so many choices! It was well worth the $$$ and has played and sounded great for the 4 years I've had it. Would reccomend, especially for a low-budget slap/fusion axe. A 2 or 3 band EQ ala Musicman would be great (the ATK300 has this) and active preamp. And maybe another pickup

I think it's a '96 (or '95) made in Japan. I just bought it december 2001 and it NEW!!! It has 22 frets and 4 strings, solid top, volumecontol, high blend control and a 2 way switch (punchy or attack) for the 3 coil humbucker (the middle coil is a dummy - just for noise cancelling). the 100s are the only ATK series with passive electronics - and the sound is great! Neck is made of maple and the body? ..it could be ash - but hey! I am not an luthier! It has a nice sunburst finish -I've see beter ones but I think the sound is more relevant than the finish. The bodyshape is a mixture of stingray and precission and the neck is really fat! the tuners are also fat (- the whole bass is fat) & reliable - I play every day about 2 hours and I have to tune the bass once a week.

It's great for the music that I use to play (something like funk-rock-jazz)and sounds very good through my ampeg svt (amp&cabinet). My effect chain is: Digitech BassWhammy and Boss SYB3.
The sound is rich and clear- I get everything I want from it (from J.B. sound to M.M. sound)and it has only one blend for the hights!! The switch is rather useless because there is not much difference between the 2 settings (I can use the blend knob instead of it). this bass is awesome on stage, especially when it's foggy: the tuners and the bridge are chromed and throw light effects through the fogg - thats great...and of course the soud and playability is also great.

It was quite well set up but I like working arround on my instruments and changed it's look a little bit: I screwed down the pickguard, deleted the Ibanez logo on the head (and put my logo on) ... now it looks more custom to me. I also adjusted the string -height, -action and truss rod hence I changed the string gauge.

It looks very reliable to me..I think this bass will last aeons.
..and if the finish will wear off - no problem this would fit to the screwholes from the pickguard.
backup? I always play on gigs without backup so I don't need any

I play since 1996 and owned 3 other basses (like the edc700 also from Ibanez - real shitty bass I blame the day I bought it.)
If the bass were stolen..I don't think that I'll find anotherone anywhere because its out of stock since '97 - maybe then I'll buy a musicman or fender or maybe the ATK 1500? prestige model.
My favorite features are the playability and the fat sound - maybe someday I'll try to get a better humbucker-
I am really satisfied with this bass, since I bought it, I didn't even touched my other basses. And the price was also great!
