This is a review on a 1986 ABX-1000 "Axstar" bass. I've created a separate catagory as this is different from the other "Axstar" series basses.
The AXB-1000 was made in Japan, 24 fret ebony fretboard, (this is the 4 string model)
The body/neck material is a mystery, but it's a neck-thru-body with active Ibanez humbucker pickups, volume/tone/tone/blend, finish is a nice creamy pearl metallic which has yellowed over the years. (looks kinda like a Cadillac finish)
It's a headless design, yet it still has a small "head" on it, just enough to stop your hand when you get to the end. (I love this feature!) It's a fairly narrow neck, too. Dot inlays are mother of pearl (I think) The body style is just a bit different than most Axstars, too. Not easy to describe because they are subtle differences, but if you saw them side by side, you'd see why I made a separate catagory.
This model has a Stienberger Licensed Bridge (not the Ibanez knockoff)
I bought it used at a used guitar shop, w/case for $500.

This bass sounded like the Hammer of Thor,....until the pickup system failed! I've been trying to get this thing back to it's original glory, but alas, I think I'm gonna have to replace the pickup system....(might go with Bartilloni)
This bass smoked other basses on stage....had several offers for it.
NOT FOR SALE!

I bought it used in great shape!
Still in great shape!
Built very well...
them Japs sure know how to build a guitar!
This was the Top-Of-The-Line bass for this line, so you'd expect it to be this good.

I've played music for 28 years.
This is the nicest bass I ever played.
It was like having an unfair advantage over other players.
I'll get it working again one day.
