My first bass, been playing for about 2 months.. This bass is very eye catching, has sweet curves. I went to the Portland Music Co. and they had some pretty neat Deans, but I decided to go to Apple Row Music in Portland Oregon. I saw the Rockbass corvette, And I did not like that bass one bit, I thought the shape was awesome but their is not 1 thing warwick about that bass. I then saw the Ibanez on the window, I loved the finish so I gave it A try. It has some sweet nubs and the crome hardware gives it a nice feel. Defintly A 9.

I play Christian rock, and the deep growl in this bass is awesome, from deep to clear it has a built it Trebble n' bass which is awesome. The sound is very powerfull. I perfer to use my fingers on this bass. But Pick does work just as well. I defintly give the sound A 10.

The Natural finish is just incredable, the Wood grain is beatiful. This bass is very good looking, And for 430$ you can't beat it. I looked at some other bass'es like The Corvette Rockbass which is glossy stained, Some Schetcher Stilettos, and some LTD's but none came close to this puppy, this is took of the line on A budget.

Very solid bass, The locking cord mechinsm is awesome, You put the cord into the jack and it locks, then you push on a red lever next to the jack to unlock it. very useful for gigs. The strap nobs are solid, Volume/all nobs are on their great. The tuner nobs are slightly tiled down kinda like a Warwick look, Very sucure on there and look great.

If you're looking at this review chances are you know the specs. If not go check out the Ibanez website.
Well... lemme start off by saying I went to Motor City Guitar (you guys rock) to play a Rockbass Corvette. I'd been in a alt. rock band for two years and only played pick style with my Dano Hodad (see my review) but now I needed a good finger style bass and I'd heard good things about the corvette. When I got there and played it, it was good, but not what I was looking for.
Then came the BTB
(One thing about this bass feature wise, you have to unscrew a plastic pannel on the back to get to the batt. Oh, and there's no built-in coffee maker)

I seen the BTB hanging on the wall and decided to give it a shot.
When I strapped it on it sat perfectly on my body and was lighter than I had expected. I plugged it in to an Ampeg 1x12 combo and it was deep bass with some growel in the mids and clear highs, and that's whith the eq flat.
A quick reminder of the controls, Master Vol, Blend, Bass, Treb.
Upon messing with the eq and blend a little the bass became whatever I wanted it to be. I had way more than enough boost with the bass and treb. My sole intrest in the bass is for finger-style, and thats good, because it lacks the super mids for pick. (check out the Dano) Once in a blue moon I'll do a little finger popping and the bass sounds great, but is a little hard to play.
When I got it home I plugged it into my Hartke half stack (3500 head, VX 4x10 cab) and it was crystal clear. I intend to put some heavier strings on it for a little more beef in the middle strings. The lows were powerful and thunderous, the mids had just enough growel to keep an old pick player happy and the highs were crisp (maybe just a little too crisp for me)
All-in-all, I like the sound, it has that slow rock feel, that kinda slow dance soothing low end with room to solo at the top end, perfect for a coffee house type gig. But, as I said, don't bring a pick near this thing. I give it an 8

The guys at Motor City set it up nice, I had to raise the action for personal taste. I see no flaws in the finish and since it's not a gloss scratches are hard to come by.
The bass sports looks to kill and the bubinga (spelling?) top has some cool grain patterns. The seam is hard to spot unless your looking for it too.

The bass itself feels solid, the strap knobs feel a little lightweight to me, and the 4 piece bridge system is cool. Tuners feel average and I have'nt had a problem with em yet. The control knobs feel durable and the locking jack is in my opinion a pain, but very solid, probably the most solid I've ever seen. (it's massive)
I gig with my Dano for that pick sound so I always have a backup but for the record I'd gig without a backup (no need to be paranoid)

Haven't had to deal with Ibanez, but the guys at Motor City Guitar know their stuff. I've bought 3 basses from em and I'll be comming back for more.

I've been playing for five years and this is my sixth bass (I'm not rich, I just have accidents...) and I tell ya, I never thought I'd be playing an Ibanez. but, this is by far the best finger-style sound I've found so far(well... save my acoustic) If it were lost (who loses their guitar???) or stolen I'd save up for another.
Overall... The bass fits my needs at a reasonable price and draws looks from everybody. I get asked how much it cost quite often.
The reasoning for the eight is the batt panel, and the lack of mid range control. I would recomend you go to your local dealer and play one. Try some others too, and if you pick one up, post a review here to help others decide on it.

I never have been a fan of Ibanez's basses until the BTB series. They were out of price range until I saw this model. 2003 BTB bass pretty sure made in Japan. This BTB has a mahogany body with 5 bolt 34" neck and has 2 J pickups. Two band EQ, bass, and treble. With a volume, and pan knob. It has 22 frets, and 23-24 on the G. I like this bass and it was really easy on the wallet. For the price its light years ahead of similar priced equipment. Im sure ibanez's website would help you a lot more.

I play anything from that Flea slap, to the Tool rumble to straight up jazz and funk. I play metal as well and this bass loves to be fingered plucked. I havent found a great picking sound yet. I am playing through an Ampeg B2 and an Avatar 410 cab. I love the sound of this bass and the eq is simple which i like. I just booast the bass and treble a bit and its really powerful. The monorail bridge lets this bass resonate very well.

Bass was set up great. Since the weather changed it needs to be setup soon. I bought it from the local shop and they're setting it up for me for free! Great guys, Im tired of the GC assholes, thats why I stay local. Finish was great! My bass is a lot lighter than what it looks like on the Ibanez site, which i like!

I never gig with a backup so if it breaks im in deep shit. This bass is solid, and surprisingly light. This bass seems like it can take a beating and go on. Only problem I would worry about is the Ibanez notorious warping neck. If you "maintain" your guitars this would never be a problem for you in the first place.

Never delt with Ibanez but their products are either a hit or a miss, just have to search for the beauties. This BTB has a lifelong warranty which I will take advantage of.

This bass is awesome and i didnt have a lot of money to spend on the higher BTB's. For someone with smaller hands like myself the btb was built for you. The tones you can get with the simple active 2 band eq is insane. If you play primarily with a pick you might want to really mess around with it before totally buying it. The shop was even nice enough to throw in a hardshell case for sixty bucks. This is a huge upgrade from my Squire J bass. I basically worn that thing down to the bone. Literally the neck was melting. If you dont like this model check out all the other BTB's! This is a great deal folks, slap it and you will know what I am talking about.
