Im just going to get to the point telling people simple things they can find on ibanez's website is completely pointless and a waste of time:
good things: its huge range of sounds, its finish, its very punchy and has huge bottom end expecially on the E and B strings, its neck is very very sleek and smooth very very easy to play fast on, it has a very effective eq on it and with the pickup blend its easy to get any sound you want in just a few seconds, you dont have to put strings through holes when stringing(very convienent),and the black chrome/grey pewter finish is amazing looking.
bad things: the b string sounds floppy(not alot though), its a very heavy bass(im guessing cause of the luthite).

this bass sounds great, i slap/pop/finger/and pick and it sounds great with all, for me having a versatile bass is somthing i really like, i would never buy a bass that was limited on sounds. like i said before its a very punchy bass, and also has huge bottom end.

i dont like my action low so when it was shipped to me i raised it up a bit(but thats just my preference) even though i belive this bass was designed for getting a very low action. everything is solid as a rock on it ive owned it probably half a year now and not one problem exept my brothers wanting to play it.

like i said before this bass is as solid as a rock, i dont think a backup bass would be necessary just maybe extra batterys in case it the other one went dead. the finish is great ive hit it on metal railings walking up stairways in my house and it hasent damaged it at all it also fell forward(off its stand) onto a wood tile floor with no damage recieved.

i called my local ibanez dealer to see if i could get a fretless neck for this bass but they dont make them for this model...they could have just taken a neck they havent cut fretlines into yet and ship it to me but i guess thats not how it works with them.. but no problems with the actual bass.

ive been playing for a couple of years, even though i know thats not a long time you can always tell whats a good bass and whats a bad bass and this is a good bass expecially considering you can get one for around $600(a steal). basically all ibanez ergodyne series basses are great.

This EDB605 was made in 2001 in Korea. It has 24 frets and is a five string. The bass has a 3-band graphic eq.(standard volume and pickup balancer, and the eq. has bass, middle and treble. The pickups on the bass are 2 humbuckers, it is very active. The boby material is Luthite and the neck is also. It has a rosewood fretboard. The neck is real thin and you can go from on end of the neck to the other in like .000001 seconds.

I play metal and it suits metal real well. I have a shitty practice amp right now but it sounds good even on that. My friend has one and she is in a local band that plays gigs and it sounds real good on her Ampeg stack. You can get virtually any sound you want on this bass....its crazy what this thing does.

The action when i got it was perfect but it was out of tune....but what can you expect. No flaws in this puppy. The pickups were adjusted just right.

24 frets, body is made of Luthite (an Ibanez synthetic material), neck is maple. Has a 3 band equalizer and 2 humbuckers. I think it was made in Korea. You can only get the 5-string in a grey pewter finish, which looks ten times better than in the picture. It has a cut away for easy popping on the D and G strings. The neck is pretty much the same as the SR 485 and 405: very thin (not as thin as SR 885). The tuners aren't the most reliant to tell you the truth but they get the job done. This is my first 5-string and I'm still not used to the close string spacing on this thing. It fits my body perfectly, especially when I have the strap on. I also should mention that this thing ways a ton. It's got to be the heaviest bass I've ever held.
Sound
:

My other bass is a GSR 200, which is a fine bass, but this thing blows it away in versatility. This thing can growl or punch or both by simply adjusting the 3-band equalizer. The pickups are absolutely great; specially made for the luthite. However it is a little bright for me, maybe it's because the strings are brand new and like them a little beaten up. I like a large variety of rock and I also love to slap. With a few adjustments you can get the P-bass sound. Also this is a great slapping bass. Sometimes I wish I had more room, but the sound quality is superb. By the way if you want to play Korn, buy this bass. I tried for hours unsuccesfully to get the Korn sound out of my GSR 200. With this thing all you have to do is turn off the mids on the equalizer on the bass on your amp and turn up the bass and treble all the way. You even get the cool percussive clicking sound that Fieldy gets. I was very happy.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action is perfect. The finish is flawless on the body (and no fingerprints ever!!). However the finish on the neck is a little sloppy. Another problem with the finish on the neck is that when you're really moving up and down the fingerboard and building up a bit of a sweat, the neck kind of sticks to your hands. It's hard to describe, but it feels like the finish is rubbing off on your hands (I've made sure that this isn't the case by the way). I do have trouble with the closeness of the strings but I think that's because I'm used to the 4-string.

This thing could really take a beating. It ways a ton and is built like a rock. I couldn't even imagine how you could dent or scratch it. Strap buttons are solid. I'm a little worried about that finish on the neck though. They should have just left the maple if you ask me.

I don't even know how to reach Ibanez. Anyway, as for where I bought it from, Musician's friend, gave me a great deal. No shipping or taxes (they've taken that away as far as I know; I think Music 123 still has it if you're intersted), and they gave me a lower price because I found it for cheaper at Music-n-sound.com. It was backordered so it took a few weeks but everything was fine with it.

I've been playing for a year and a half now. This is a great bass, and I don't think I'll be buying another for a few years now. It has great sound and just looks cool. I have to say that the SR 485 and 405 aren't far off from this one, so I'd consider looking at those. My brother has an Ibanez guitar and I have 2 Ibanez basses and we're all very happy. In my opinion Ibanez does make the best mid to low priced basses (my opinion might be construed, however). Bottom line: if it was 90$ less it would be the greatest bass ever.

My EDB605 was made in 1999, in Korea. It's a 5 string work horse with 24 frets and a Luthite body in Gray Pewter. There's one volume, one bass, one treble, one mid, and one balance control. There's a dxh2n in the neck and a dxh2b in the bridge. It's totally active! Tons of punch! I don't know what material the neck is made out of, but whatever it is, it's great. It also came with a hardshell case.

The EDB605 can get you any sound virtually. It's the best sounding bass I've ever played. I play a wide variety from speed metal and hardcore to rock, blues, latin, and Primus.

Everything on the bass was great when I got and still is...except for one thing. the input jack keeps getting looser and looser. but i can fix that anytime i want, but it doesn't bother me. The body is great! It's made out of Luthite and doesn't leave any fingerprints when you touch it.

I got this bass around November '99 and probably use it a good 3-4 hours a day. It still plays the same as it did the first day I got it. I would definately play a show without a backup unless it was another EDB605.

It's a 5 string bass with active electronics and 3 band EQ. 24 frets, solid-body, and locking tuners. The finish is gray pewter or white. It has a volume, bass, mids, treble and balancer knob. The balancer I think changes which pickup is selected but I could be wrong. Luthite body, rosewood fingerboard, not sure about neck material. Has a lot of great features for the price.

I play metal and hard rock, mostly metallica, sabbath, ozzy, motorhead, etc. I play this through a peavey combo 115. It has a very punchy and warm sound. You can get anything from a thin bright sound to a deep, thick sound. Using the EQ, you can get a wide variety of sounds. the balancer changes the tone even more. you can get an almost endless variety of sounds. There is almost no noise either. If you crank the treble youll get a slight hiss but thats about it.

I bought it used and when I got it, the setup was horrible. The strings were so high off the fretboard at the higher end that they were really hard to use. After I got it set up professionally, it is great. It buzzes at 2 or 3 frets but that is probably because the action is so low. The neck is pretty thin and really comfortable. It has an overall great feel. I think the original owner must have messed with the action before selling it but I dont know. The construction was pretty good too. The edge of the nut is a little sharp and there is some rust under the control knobs, but this might be from the previous owner. Other than that the construction is good. The finish is really smooth and even too.

This bass was made in Korea. I'm not shure when it was made, but who cares. It is a 5-string bass with 24 frets. Made of luthite and it was given the shape to fit your body like a glove ( at least mine..) Anyone who posesses this bass is blessed with a 3-band equaliser (low, mid, high),a volume knob and a pickup balancer. You just can't wish to have anything more. Pickup configuration: dual soapbar with Ibanez pickups, i guess the pickups are passive, but the eq. uses a battery. The color is like metallic black or something, it's called grey pewter. The bridge is an accucast b25, rigid and good looking What else to say?
Sound
:
10
The sound is perfect and you can modify it in absolutely any way. I use it on a Marshall b65 amp for practice and it sounds just good, it may sound even better if I would buy a more powerful amp. I can't say this bass is noisy because it isn't. The sound it gives is very diverse, you can have a rich full(maybe too full) sound or just the opposite, as I explained, you can do almost anything with this bass. On stag performance is good, it's a good performing bass, and it looks good too, no dislikes.
Action, Fit, & Finish

When i bought the bass the action was perfect. And it still is, flying on the fretboard is easy to do, Ibanez made a really playable bass. Pickups were mounted correct en were also adjusted correct. The bass did not contain any flaws, everything was put together rigidly and the hardware was shining like a mirror.
Reliability/Durability
:

It is a very rigid bass, i think it would still be in one piece after a collision with a schoolbus, I'm serious. If it were stolen i woul buy a new one instantly. Re-adjusting isn't really necessary, cause luthite doesn't really expand and bend like wood. I woul certainly use it on a gig without something that comes near to a backup.

This bass is packed with features. The body is made of Luthite which is a kind of graphite. It's made in Korea which may sound dodgy but I've had no problems except for slight wear on the fret bored. It's got twin humbucking pickups with a balance control between the two.
