I believe this bass was made in 1990 based on the serial although I have not confirmed that yet.
- 34" scale/24 fret
- Active circuit with volume, pickup pan, bass, mid & treble controls
- Maple neck/Luthite body
- Grey 'mat' style finish - nice!

Sound : 10
This is one of the most verstitile basses I have ever owned as far as sound is concerned. I can dial-in EXACTLY what I am looking for - a phat bottom end, reduced mids with just the right amount of highs - perfect! The electronics are well designed with very little (virtually none) noise. However, I did shorten up the wires in the cavity and added a ground wire from the circuit board to ensure a good contact to the shielded backplate (although it was pretty quiet before I did this). I will be adding an active cut-off switch so that I can keep it plug in before our shows (just grab and go...).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Of all the basses I have owned over the years and I have owned many this bass has absolutely the best fit and feel of any of them. The closest comfortable basses to this one (and sound) I own (and have owned) are oddly enough other Ibanez basses and mainly the SR series (love Ibanez basses).
The finish is flawless on this bass. I was able to adjust the action and set the neck with just the right amount of relief for nice and low action (minimum fret buzz too). Since this bass was used I have no idea how the factory setup was.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This bass is solid! The hardware is of good quality and tight (all screws are snug - I re-tightened all when I recieved the bass and none where stripped in the luthite body or neck). I can and will depend on this bass as it will be one of my stage basses - I always need backup basses because I have a tendency to snap strings from time to time (and not because they're old either lol).

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
Great bass overall especically for the money I paid - even at the cost of a new one the value is superb! My bandmates have told me that this bass is the best looking bass that I have played in the band as well (just an added bonus).

Been playing my 5-string for about 6 years now and it's never let me down. It has 24 frets if you're looking to play in higher regions, the on-board EQ makes it easy to boost your high and mid as well. Made of a tough material called Luthite. Very comfortable to while sitting or standing. I've played all sorts of styles- plucking, picking, slap/pop, tapping, speed, chords- you name it! It has great versatility and it's easy to adjust it to your particulaar style.

Sound : 10
Hass a nice full bottom sound as well as a very clean bright high end. Again, the onboard EQ makes it easy to boost or cut any of region. I particularly like boosting the mid range for a more active sound, this also helps cut through the drums and guitar a little bit.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Wasn't a big fan of the strings it came with, but I've always made it a habit to replace manufacturer strings right away. Other than that it played beautifully brand new (still does 6 years later).

Reliability/Durability : 10
Over 6 years there isn't a scratch on it. The Luthite body is nearly invincible as far as I can tell. I was curious one day and TRIED to scratch the back of the body with a key- didn't do anything! I've never had any problems with any of the hardware. Only maintenance I have to do is replace a 9v battery for the EQ every couple months (unplug the bass when you're not playing it, this will save the battery life).

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to deal with Ibanez.

Overall Rating : 10
Not only would I buy this bass again, I am thinking about buying another to use as a secondary for gigs. There was a time when I wasn't in a band for awhile so I sold all of my gear EXCEPT this bass because I love it so much. I'll never let it go. I don't think you can get more for your money.

its a korean bass, 5 strings, 24 frets, ergodyne with active pickups...

I find it hard to categorize the body style, but I'd say its an all-round bass with 3 knobs for EQ, 1 for volume and 1 for tone... great...

Sound : 10
I really can't think of a more VERSATILE bass... I used to play wah wah/slap funk with it, then I got into tapping, and now I'm into chords and high pitched chorus melodies (sort of the bass melodies that Justin from TOOL does) and Industrial kinda thing... I use my Nig muff pi quite a lot with this bass... and I use thin strings as well... IT SOUNDS GREAT!! I can't say how much I enjoy using the high region of this bass... People were complaining about the higher regions probably because they used thick strings... I play POWER CHORDS THAT SOUND AWSOME with this...

the low end is very good as well, but there is a little rattling in the fifth strings some times...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The action and the strings weren't very friendly when I first picked it uop, some 3 years ago... But I solved that easily... Changing the strings was a major help!

Reliability/Durability : 10
God, this bass is tough! But I'm really, really scared of damaging it, cuz I couldn't imagine how hard it would be to find a replacement for it..

Really solid strap buttons, nice hardware, I never used a backup...

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have no clues about warranty...

Overall Rating : 9
I just love this bass, the main reason is for its VERSATILITY! It work wonders in every style! It works wonders with effects too, if you're into that... My favourite aspects are the ease to play chords and how nice it sounds with fuzz distortion. It has DA COOLEST looks, if that's important for you... The only thing i sorta don't like is the ocassional rattling of the 5th (B) string when playing fast... If you're a trash/death or any sorta metal that requires excess "speed" I'd suggest you'd have a tall/higher B string tension, but leaving the other strings, for better soloing... this bass is excelent for soloing as well, I might add...

It was made in 2003, in Korea, I bought it when it was 2 months old
Its (ufcourse) a 5-string with 24 frets
The body is luthite, nek is made of Maple and is pretty fast, a bit heavy though but there's no problem with the balance
There's one volume knob and a balance knob for the pickups and 3-band equalizer
The Pickups are active ibanez humbuckers

Sound : 9
I play thrash and black metal and it fits it great!!
The sound is very dark, warm and low and very phat!!
It can be played for any style of music and this quality cannot be found anywhere else for this price!!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The bas playes pretty damn fast
But when I bought it, some adjustments had to be made to the string and pickups but its that way with almost every new bass.
The finishing is great and almost undestructible.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Before I bought this bass I already owned a EDB500 for a few years(it has the same body) An there isnt a scratch on it!! These basses are built like a tank! Ive been to hell and back with this bass and it still is in great condition. It has never given me any problems.
I always bring a backup but I've never needed it, I play around 20 gigs a year...

Customer Support : No Opinion
never needed it.....

Overall Rating : 9
Ive been playing for 7 years now and I own A EDB 500 as well
I play with a SWR workinman's 4004 and 1x15 + 4x10 cabinets
I use a ADA preamp and poweramp

If it where stolen i would hunt down the thief and painfully torture him to death, in other words, i'd get a new one..
I love this bass simply because it gives me exactrly what i need, great tone and lots af power

Best u can get for this money and a lot more!!!!!

Its a 5-string 03 model made in korea, with easy access to all 24 frets. The body is made of a synthetic material called luthite (making the bass a little heavy, but still perfectly balanced) It has a pewter finnish that looks amazing. It's an ERGODYNE model so it fits my body perfectly both seated and standing. It includes a volume control, bass, mid-range and treble as well as balance. Ive given it 10 because its everything i wanted in a bass and at a cheap price. Plus it came with a set of Elixir strings on it (normaly about fifty quid a set)

Sound : 10
I CANNOT STRESS THE GREATNESS OF THE SOUND ON THIS THING! I can achieve all types of sound from this, i can play death, gore, black, thrash, hardcore, heavy metal, classic rock, heavy hometown, funk, soul, fusion, blues, pop and i even did an R'n'B track with this baby. I only use an 130 watt Ashdown combo but it gives off phat tone. Ive had no trouble with highs or lows, even de-tuned! It always sounds crisp and clean. Its better than some top range basses ive used, both live and in the studio. One of the only better basses ive used was a Carl Thompson custom.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
action was a bit poor, but i sorted it out straight away. The pickups were fine though as was (and still is) everything else.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This bass is tough as sun-dried shit! Never before have i encountered a bass that was this durable. Ive never had any faults with it, its never scratched and it doesnt even pick up finger marks! I always gig without backup when using this bass! its simply never needed! I use Elixir strings (costly but the best) so they wont break.

Customer Support : 10
Ive never needed any support, it came in perfect condition and has stayed that way!

Overall Rating : 10
Ive been playing it for about a year now and its miles better than my J-bass. I used to work in a guitar shop and i played and tuned about 2000 guitars everyday, and i kept coming back to this one. Ive only played 2 better basses, The warwick Thumb and the Carl Thompson rainbow bass. But nothing anywhere near this sort of value for money. If you buy it from a shop ask if somebody can sort out the action as soon as it arrives, but apart from that...BUY THIS BASS NOW!!...GO ON....HURRY!

Body....Luthite
Neck....Maple
Electronics....3 band EQ, Two humbuckers, volume switch, balancer.

The looks of this bass is amazing. The B.C. Rich Warlock doesn't scare me as much as this thing does. This bass honestly makes my heart skip beats when I look at it. And it's loaded with features.

Sound : 10
The sound is full, dark, and industrial. Sounds similar to the K5 without warm wood sound and the $750 price tag. I laughed when I was reading some of the reviews. How could anyone say this bass doesn't sound awesome. It also sounds different than the average wood bass, but that is a good thing if you're in a rock band. My friend plays a $1,300 custom Carvin and this bass sounds much better. Just turn the mid-range knob down and you'll sound just like Fieldy's K5. But you'll look like King Kong. I can't get over the massive look to this thing.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I had to make a few adjustments but it was alright.

Reliability/Durability : 10
You can't get a more reliable and durable bass. I've been playing this bass for a year now and I still haven't scatched it. The only bass that could be stronger is one made out of metal. I'd rank this one a 20 but it only goes to 10.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't needed them at this point.

Overall Rating : 10
This bass is a dream for the gig man. If you're playing lots of gigs, this bass will look good till the day you stop playing bass. Sound is awesome. This bass will sound as good as most high dollar basses out there. It doesn't sound warm like wood basses, which is a very good thing for me. The sound is dark and industrial. Unless your frontman looks like Brad Pitt, all eyes are going to be on you and this wicked looking bass.

This bass is made from luthite which I heard was similar to graphite. It comes loaded with contols: Humbucker pickups and a nice set of sound control knobs: Lows, mids, highs, pickup balancer, and of course the volume switch. I've heard people dog on the bridge but I didn't see anything wrong it. The color is killer and it makes my heart beat faster just looking at it. Anyone that owns this bass can testify to that. I'm giving this bass a 10 score on this section because it is loaded with good solid features.

Sound : 10
The sound is incredible concidering I paid only $600 for it. If someone doesn't know anything about tuning, I can honestly say this bass sounds equal or better than many high end basses. I've heard someone say that the highs are not very good, but I disagree. I play through a GK backline 12" and get a lot of compliments from my band members about my sound including the clear and punchy highs. The lows are the best feature though. The bass puts out a Korn type of sound due to the awesome lows puts out. I wouldn't waste the extra money on the K5 when this bass looks better and sounds just as good. I'm giving a 10 on this section because it sounds better than my friends $1,500 musicman. Imagine that?

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Set up was weak. Who ever is in charge with this part of the guitar building process should be fired. I had to adjust it alomost immediatly after receiving it. But you should learn how to do that anyway and it's really no big deal, but it's nice to have it ready to play when you buy it. No flaws though. Great bass but a terrible set up crew.

Reliability/Durability : 10
You can't get a more solid bass. This has to be the strongest bass in the world unless they make one out of steal. Everything is tight and solid. I suggest always having a backup though. What if you broke a string like I did once? Know bass is good enough to not have a backup. This is my #1 bass during gigs. This bass deserves a solid 10 on this section. Show me a bass more solid and reliable than this one and I'll buy it for you.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with them. I'm not sure about the warranty, I think it's a year.

Overall Rating : 10
This is an awesome bass!! I really don't know why I haven't seen more of them around. Maybe people are scared to buy something other than wood? Luthite is a strong product. Because this bass looks awesome, sounds awesome, reliable, extremely solid, and fairly inexpensive, I'm going to have to give this bass a 10 rating overall.

Luthite formed body
24 fret maple neck
3 band active eq
2 humbuckers
its the same as all the others (they are all even the same color)

Here are some features I think it SHOULD have
active/passive option
the pearl white that the four string model is available in
different pickup configurations

Sound : 8
The sound is very good IF you don't mind that it does not do highs very well, there is no sizzle here. I'm currently playing it through a Hartke 4000 amp through a homemade 1X15 and a Peavey 4X10 cab. I also run an Aphex Bass Exciter to try and get some of those missing highs. Where the bass is a little shy on the high end, it is outspoken on the low end, you can go dark, or you can go really dark. the active electronics are a little noisy (I threw in a bypass on mine) and a little sterile compared to high end active pieces.
Overall I usually like the sound, but occasionally I find myself wishing for more bite.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
This is a worthless section due to the fact that everyone likes there setup a little different than everyone else, all I can say is if you don't like it, change it ... nuf said.

Reliability/Durability : 9
The luthite SEEMS durable (i have seen an EDA body broken badly around the control cavity, and yes, luthite is an ugly substance)but if I had it to do over I would choose a wood bass (its easy to repair, easy to refinish, and it has more air in its tone)
The bass is stable, keeps its tune, does not require constant neck adjustments, and all the hardware seems top notch.

Customer Support : No Opinion
They forge blindly ahead ... so would I.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing a couple of years as a hobby, if it were stolen I'd probably replace it with a S.U.B. 5 or a Carvin.

It's amazing how every review here seems to agree. This is a great bass. Hint hint for those interested.

Same setup as everyone else. Made in Korea, 24 fret, 5-string, active electronis with 3-band eq, luthite body, grey pewter finish, Ibanez ergo-dynamix pickups, 34" scale yadda yadda yadda.

Sound : 10
Beautiful. From playing rock and metal on Saturday nights to jazz combos weekdays to church on Sunday morning, this thing has always sounded great. Clear highs, clean mids, and big lows.

This has been my main bass for 5 years. It's never sounded bad. (Unless I tried to make it sound bad, which was fun now and then, but hard to do.)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I've been tweaking the thing on and off for a couple of years. I remember I was happy with the factory set-up for a while, but then switched to heavier strings, and messed everything up. Ended up dropping the action quite a bit, tweaked it, and now the thing plays like a chocolate dream.

The only real factory flaw was that the balance pot was a bit dirty. Contact cleaner solved it quickly and cleanly.

Also, note that yes, the luthite material itself is a disgustingly ugly orange color which you will see if you wear through the finish. Also note that if you have very oily skin or sweat a lot, the pewter finish will eventually blacken and become quite glossy. Not a bad thing, mind you, but it's a little bit annoying when some less-touched portions of the instrument are a lighter color (i.e. the headstock, the spaces between the knobs, etc.)

Reliability/Durability : 10
I threw it out of a 2nd story window to prove to a friend how durable it was.

I knocked off the bridge strap button, but the thing was still in tune.

Customer Support : 10
Only time I dealt with the company was when I was having my old bass (an SR400) repaired. They not only faxed me all necessary warranty information within a couple of minutes, but also provided me with quite a comrehnsive list of local authorized repair centers, and then made the necessary arrangements so I wouldn't have to.

Nice.

Overall Rating : 10
Looks great.
Plays great.
Sounds great.
Durable as hell.

Playing for 12 years, and prefer this to almost every other bass I've ever touched.

I use a variety of rigs, from a Peavey T-Max w/ 4x10, to an Ampeg BA115, to my rock rig, Ampeg SVT2pro with SWR 8x10. It consistently sounds good through everything.

The ibanez ergodyne bass EDB605 is a 5 string bass with a luthite body (a synthetic material). The luthite body is beautifuly resinant and makes the guitar look damn sexy! The 5th string is really handy for when your jamming in e flat (which used to really piss me off on a four string. Its 24 fret and the luthite body makes the high notes purr! Its got active controls which are really kool - bass, middle, treble, volume and pickup selector knob. Bad point is the luthite is quite heavy, so if your doing a long session make sur theres a chair nearby. Also, the 5th string makes slap quite hard.

Sound : 10
Due to the active pickups, this bass can make an enormous variety of sounds without touching the amplifier. When using its built in graphic equaliser (bass, mid and treb) in conjunction with its pickup selector and its amplifier, theres no stopping you! When used with the controls on an amp, the range of sounds just gets bigger. The 5th string tends to distort a hell of a lot with a poor amp (one of those small practice amps) coz its so damn low, so you really need a decent amp.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Action was pretty high when I got it, but thats easy to fix (you just stick an alan key in and turn it). There was also a dry joint on one of the wires to the jack socket, which came apart after a month, but I just soldered it back on and its been fine since. Thats a one off kinda thing anyway.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The luthite makes it very durable, which is perfect for me coz im very clumsy and knock it all the time. If it was wood there would be marks all over it, but as it is theres not a scratch. Iv had this bass a year and a half and theres no damage. One thing is youv gota remember to replace the battery for the active pickups (I forgot about it and when it stopped working I got in a panic).

Customer Support : No Opinion
Havn't ever delt with the Ibanez, no need to. I bought from a shop in london so I duno.

Im not sure when exactly it was made, but it is manufactured in Korea. It has 24 frets, 5 strings, 3 band active eq (bass, mid, treble) and blend knob, and of course a volume knob, 2 passive ergo-dynamix humbucking pickups(neck and bridge), the body is made of "luthite", the neck is maple, the whole bass is done in a really nice "gray pewter" finish, the body style is freakin awesome, the bridge is Ibanez's accu-cast b25 bridge (very user friendly) standard tuners(very smooth) i believe the neck is a 34" scale, very thin, medium frets, and since it was the last one the store had, being the floor model, it did not come with any accessories.

Sound : 8
I play all kinds of stuff... contemporary worship, church music, rock, blues, jazz, funk...etc.... and so far i have not been able to play with the bass to much, but it seems to have pretty versatile tone... im sure with enough fiddling i can get the tone i want for just about anything.... so far ive only played it through a yamaha emx660 pa system, but the tone is freakin awesome!!! the slap capabilities blew me away!!!! overall tone is excellente!!!!!! the controls are silent, not noisy at all, i havent tried this bass live yet, but im sure it would be great on stage or anywhere.... i love this bass! of course, being made out of luthite, it lacks a certain "woody" sound that i love, but i suppose i can live without it.... i always have my other bass......

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
alright, as far as setup goes.... it wasnt.... it sucked.... i wanted to puke all over the strings!!!! i dont think they did anything to the bass... i have never heard so much buzzing in all my days.... after about an hour or so of truss rod adjusting, adjusting the action a bit, and intonating the strings.... its awesome. to bad i had to do it myself! i lost valuable playing time, but i feel better about the setup now. oh, and the only reason it took an hour was because i had no real tools to work with....
as far as flaws on the bass... very few... the only problem was that the electronics cover on the back didnt really match up that great, and one of the brass inserts for the screws that held it on was stripped out.... ill have to glue it back in.... and the screws werent really matched up with the cover all that well... but it works. other than that, the bass is flawless.....

Reliability/Durability : 9
this bass is a beast!!!! you could chop a tree down with this axe!!!! it feels like it will last forever! it will definitely withstand live playing..... i would gig without a backup....
strap buttons are solid, so far the tuners seem solid enough.... i already had to adjust the truss rod, but thats cuz the guys at the store either suck at setups, or they didnt...
i expect to have this bass for years!

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with em....

Overall Rating : 9
ive been playing for a little over three years now, and i have an Ibanez ATK100 bass and a fender bxr100 amp, and a korg bass pandora.
if it were stolen i would probably cry, and i wouldnt be able to afford another one for quite sometime, but i would probably buy it again....
i love this bass.... the only thing i dont like is the back cover.... and the setup WAS horrible.... the B string is pretty tight though..... so that is a plus.... i bet with a little more adjusting i could get the action a whole lot lower than i play with now........ i love the 3 band active eq on this thing!
i compared it with the warwick corvette rockbass 5 and a couple other 5 string ibanez and this one took it..... the other ibanez were good, but i like this one a little better cuz of the looks, comfort, and electronics.... the warwick rockbass was nice, but i figured this one was made better.... i just didnt care as much for the warwick...
i dont think i would alter this bass too much.... maybe make it 35"scale, for tighter B, though its alright now, and i would maybe put some better harware on it.... though its still good.... other than that, ive only had it 3 days, so i cant really say much more about it.... other than i think ill be happy with it.

This is a 2002 Ibanez EDB 605 5 string bass, made in Korea. The bass has a good set of features without going overboard. Electronics are active with two soapbar humbuckers and 3 rotary controls to set bass, mid and top cut/ boost. The controls are centre-detented, which is always a nice touch, and have a good useable range. The body is pearl black luthite and vaguely Jazz bass shaped, the neck is a 3 piece maple job with a rosewood fingerboard and 24 medium frets. Fretting is nicely done, but the nut was cut a little on the high/ tight side. Hardware wise, there is a well made and chunky top loading bridge and a set of own brand tuners which are smooth to operate although the buttons are a bit on the skinny side compared to Schallers. The bass came with a set of Elixir Nanoweb strings, which is a good bonus at this price. The biggest downer is the neck/ body joint. The heel is huge and seriously restricts access to the dusty frets, so lose a mark for that one.

Sound : 8
The band I play in is a kind of funk-rock outfit, and this bass makes all the necessary bright, snappy, growling noises for this kind of gig through an ancient Trace Elliot GP11 head and a home made 4x10 cab. Metal isn't my scene, but this would be a good bet for that style as well, but it's maybe a bit restrained for punk/ thrash, and doesn't really go down deep enough for reggae. The electronics are near silent on all settings, quiet enough to be able to tell just how noisy my compreesor pedal is. Overall, a great sounding bass if you're into the Doug Wimbish kind of thing, not so hot if Robbie Shakespeare is more your bag.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
The set up as delivered was below average. Action was way too high, and there was no relief in the neck at all. Not a problem if you feel confident tackling these things yourself, but disappointing and expensive if you get someone else to do it for you. As mentioned earlier, the nut wasn't cut as well as it could have been. Finally, the control cavity cover plate was a poor fit on my bass, and needed some playing with to sort out. This all sounds bad, but I've had much the same on just about every other bass I ever had, all the same you have to do some serious marking down for these kind of details. Cosmetically everything was spot on, way above what you would normally expect at the price.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Have to agree with everybody else here, this thing is bullet proof. This is my main instrument at the moment, and it hasn't picked up any of the dings you normally get with a wood bodied bass. Finish has held up well so far, and the strap buttons seem dependable enough although I wish Ibanez had stuck with their old V shaped buttons which locked the strap more securely.
After setting it up when I first got it, I haven't needed to touch it apart from maybe checking and tweaking the intonation after putting new strings on. I never turn up to gigs without a backup, but if I had to, I wouldn't lose any sleep with this bass.

Customer Support : 10
Never had to deal with Ibanez direct. I've played Ibanez basses since 1988, and have only had to get on to the UK distributor twice. Both times they were easy to deal with and got the problem sorted quickly, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and take it on trust that nothing has changed.

Overall Rating : 9
I've played bass since 1982, my current rig is a Trace Elliot GP11, 4x10 cab and a few effects here and there, mainly a dynacomp pedal. I have two other Ibanez basses, a battered P-bass shape Roadstar and a Musician series bass from the mid 80's. If this were stolen, I'd be straight out to get another one. The best thing about it is the broad tonal range it has, the worst has to be that bloody great heel at the neck joint. When I bought this bass, I compared it to an Ibanez BTB400, a MIM Jazz Bass and a Yamaha whose model number I forget. I chose the 605 because of its sound and, well, because it's an Ibanez.
The only real gripe I have is the setup, but that was fixed easily enough. Overall, outstanding value for money; this bass is more than the sum of its parts and comes recommended.

2002 bass, made in Korea.

Excellently made, but only one pickup has enough space on top to plant your thumb there. (my thumb, at least.)

Feature details can be found in the other reviews or on the Ibanez website. I'm here for opinions.

The body has a more traditional shape than the EDA or EDC, but it's still got a few non-traditional features. The back of the bass is scalloped, so it fits comfortably aginst you, and there's a scooped out spot between the bottom of the neck and the neck pickup, so you can get hella good pop on the G string. The bridge is an Accu-Cast b25, which is good. One screw adjusts string height, and changing strings is simple, too. The body also tapers down a bit over the neck pickup, providing a decent thumbrest. I would have preferred the same on the bridge pickup, though.

A downside: Luthite, the material the body and neck are made of, is pretty heavy. I recommend sitting down to play this bass.

Sound : 10
The luthite body enhances the sound wonderfully. With just a few twists of the control knobs (although it does take a little practice to see just how each knob interacts with the others) this bass can get you Death Cube K subtleness, Korn no-mid punch, or Primus slap-pop.

Unbelievably quiet, as well. I can fiddle with any knob on the bass as much as I want, and not a sound will come from my speaker cones.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Set up extremely well, with low, low action but no fret buzz, except on the low B string. LOTS of fret buzz on that string when I played it without slapping. Very floppy string, but the action was easy to raise. I spent about 3 minutes doing that (using the allen wrenches provided with the bass, I thank Ibanez very much for that!) and then I couldn't find another flaw, and I really tried, too!

Reliability/Durability : 10
This luthite is extremely durable, everything is set up nice and tight, and, since the entire body is luthite, there's no finish to wear off. If you get a scratch (and it took falling down a flight of stairs to scratch mine) the body inside is the same color and texture as the outside, so it barely shows. Although I'm paranoid and NEVER play without a backup, this is the most solid bass I've ever seen.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to deal with Ibanez yet.
Has a 1-year warranty, pretty decent one too.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for a little over a year, and I also own a Scecter Diamond Series fretless, and a Fender Precision Bass.

If this bass was stolen, I would most definitely get this same one again. I've seen basses that cost twice as much that aren't as good as this beauty.

Incredibly easy to play, sounds great, and can be used for a variety of styles. Excellent bass!

The only changes I'd make would be to make a spot on the bridge pickup for a thumbrest, and have this bass ship with different strings.

I only give this bass a 9 because it's so heavy and needed a slight adjustment on arrival. The contour shape is very comfortable, though. If you're fairly strong, the weight shouldn't bother you much, but this is a wonderful bass for sitting down. Everything stays right in reach, and it's not so heavy that it puts your leg to sleep.

I'd rather play this than my father's $1200 Fender 5-string custom.

For this price, I'd be hard pressed to find a better (or even equal) bass.

This bass is one of the coolest basses I could have possibly bought. Having seen the photos of it on the Ibanez site, I wasn't thoroughly impresses but after actually recieving it, you realise how misleading the site photos are. This thing looks so much better in life, and is also a lot more black than I expected. Having played the 4 string white pearl version, I blindly ordered this, and Im glad I did.
The body, made of a luthite material which supposedly "enhances the top end", is fairly heavy but if your a fairly big 6ft guy like me, youll never notice it after a few hours. Well, its not that heavy...

The body has a very warm, dare I say futuristic feel to it. Playing is a very pleasurable experience, it just kinda fits if you get my drift. The pickups, EQ - all excellent, no problems there.

Sound : 10
I play this bass through a Trace Elliot 300w 2x12 combo, and it sounds amazing. I also use an ODB-3 Boss Overdrive pedal for a mixture of cutting overdrive, and disturbing distotion sounds. I play a little metal, a lot of rock, and a lot in between, for example Pantera, Bush, Pearl Jam, Soulfly, Sepultura, SOAD, Metallica, and generally other stuff I like and buy, not neccecarily heavy stuff, and this bass can do it all. Please don't take reviews seriously where the person states they are using a god-damn practice amp, because seriously, you can naver get a decent soud out of anything under 50watts. If someone says they cant decent sound outta a 15watt amp, even with 8 effets pedals, find them and slap them :-). If you are really serious about makig this bass live up to its potential, buy a decent amp first, then build on the effects.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Bass arrived in my music store fully set up and ready to go, which I was very impressed at. After taking the bass home, couldn't find a single flaw anywhere - neck, pickups, action were all excellent. No loose controls/tuning heads, no scratches, perfectly set neck.....I wont go on, as there really isn't anything wrong!

Reliability/Durability : 9
I haven't played with this bass live, as my band have been a little pre-occupied writing stuff. Bass feels like it could take a lot of punishment, but I dont plan to test it. I've read elsehwere that scratching the body only leaves a very slight mark, so Im pleased with that. When my band start touring again, I won't need a backup. Unles this gets stolen. lol. Overall a very sturdy bass whcih will paly fantastically with minimal care.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I previously had a GSR200 el cheapo bass, but that was as reliable as any ibanez guitar. Absoloutely nothing wrong with this guitar, so I doubt any customer care calls will be needed. If you think your some kind of rock god and go about lobing this into the pit, then expect to take it backto the shop for repairs - not Ibanez's fault!

Overall Rating : 10
My current rig is this EDB605, through to an ODB-3 Overdrive pedal, occassionally through a Akai P1 Intelliphaser (excellent for basses too), and into my 300watt 2X12 Trace Elliot (can't remember the name of it as it's 20 miles from here) via Planet Soundwave cables. A fantastic (although very expensive) setup, and I can get many different band sounds from all the adjustments on the bass eq, foot pedal, and bass amp. All of my equipment has been bought without any regrets, especially the foot pedals which a lot of people complain about because they admit there amps suck. Well, don't blame the pedal fool.....
If this was stolen, I would certainly buy another. I spend a good 4 hours in my music store looking for a bass I was comfortable with, and was different from all the other mundane looking Yamaha's, Fender's, etc. This was it! If I couodn't afford to pay for this again, I would go for the 4 string version instead.
For only #475 (i think about $550) this bass is extrememly good value for money. It offers so much for very little.

Insospettabilmente caldo e morbido.

Ok, here's the deal. We have a lovley edb605 made of a graphite composite with 24 frets etc... the other reviews have all told you.

This thing is PACKED to the brim and over flowing with feature -for its price- this isnt a high end bass therefore there is a lack of.....high end features. Ibanez have done a good job in including all the things u'de expect in a Warwick copy. It looses a point of corse because of lack of wood.

Sound : 9
The sound on this beast is a lot more than you'de expect! when i picked it up in the shop i thought 'oh no! here comes another piece of futuristic shit' but i was badly mistaken. I use this bass for rock/jazz/funk that sort of end. while othee reviews have said that it's a metal bass i would have to disagree. i can get the growl of a stingray and warmth of a J-Bass outta this axe.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Well, it isnt made of wood, so not alot can be said. everything was put together as tight as a nut to my suprise. althought the tuners go out of tune reguarly they look great and do their job.
THIS BASS LOOKS GREAT!!
##its a real looker##

This axe is ..... an axe! nothing has gone wrong with it since its purchase 1 and 1/3 year ago. i use it at gigs without a backup mainly because i cant afford anything else but nothing has gone wrong, i have not been made a fool of by this bass at all!

This bass is great for a "Second Bass". It's not professional quality but its not a cheap fender copy. Buy this if you need a solid, proper bass to gig/work with untill u've deffined the sound u want.

This is an Ibanez EDB 605 Five-string bass, 24-fret neck. It was purchased in December of 1999. Made in Korea.
It's made out of luthite, which is a sort of polymer/heavy plastic material that makes a very nice bass for not that much money. It's got this cool grey pewter finish that would look just appropriate in any setting (jazz to punk). The body shape is relatively similar to a jazz- or p-bass, but the upper horn is long enough so that you don't have to hold the neck up.
H/H active pickup setup, with volume, pickup blend, treble, mid, and bass knobs.
I love the neck on this sucker. It's ergonomically contoured a little thicker near the nut than near the bridge, which makes it easier to play up closer to the body of the bass. As well, the low B string was not floppy and hard to play on at all.
As well, the back of the bass is sort of concave to make it comfortable to play for long periods of time. It just hugs your body.
I gave it a 9, mainly because of all the crazy stuff you can get on high-end basses if you spend enough money. If you only compared it to basses in its price range, it would have been a 10 (or an 11).

Sound : 9
My music style goes from rock to jazz to reggae, just like everybody else who reviews instruments. ;-)
But seriously, you can dial in pretty much any sound you want out of this thing. I run this thing through some pretty diverse amps (IE not specifically designed for basses), and I can still get some great tones. There's incredible room for tone shaping, and when you're not playing, it silent. I didn't change the strings for a year and a half after I got it and I was still able to make it sound punchy and trebly. When I did put new strings on it I managed to EQ out the over-trebly new-string buzz.
Again, I give this category a 9, but if I was adjusting for price, I would have given it a 10.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The setup is where this sucker absolutely shines. I had the guy at Sam Ash mess with the truss rod a little to take out a slight fret buzz when I first bought it, and this bass was flawless. No fret buzz, the neck was perfectly straight, not even any significant dead spots on the neck. The tuners keep their tune flawlessly.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This bass has held up perfectly. The only thing that's gone wrong with it in the almost-2-years I've had it is that the bass tone pot got a little crackly just from dirt getting in there. I fixed that with a $5 can of "tuner control" stuff from Radio Shack.
I've never needed to adjust anything on the bass at all. The hardware is all flawless after 2 years of use. Bridge still intact, nothing loose, tuners still hold the strings in tune.
The finish is a non-issue because there is no finish - it's straight luthite - doesn't warp, doesn't crack.
The strap buttons are solid as a rock.
I would and do gig without a backup - partially because this is the only bass I own - but I've never even given it a second thought. This sucker is built to last.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with the company.
Which suits me alright.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I've been playing bass around 3 years. I bought this one about 2 years ago. I also own an Ovation CS257 acoustic guitar, an old Gibson mandolin, and an old '58 reissue Strat, and I play them all through a Carvin AG100D.
When I was shopping for this bass I was looking for a 5-string in the $5-600 category. I tried out a couple of Yamaha 5's and some Ibanez soundgears. I found this one and took it home the same day.
If this bass was stolen or lost I would buy another one, because it's a hell of a lot of bass for the money.
There's nothing I hate about this bass. It's an incredibly reliable piece of machinery.
So basically, if you're looking at buying this bass, I can tell you that mine, 2 years after I bought it, is still in excellent condition, still plays well, and still sounds fantastic.
I gave this bass a 9 overall, because there are better basses out there (Warwick comes to mind...). But again, if I had rated it for the price, I would have given it a 10.

I'm sure you can find the features on ibanez.com....

Sound : 9
The first time I played this bass, I expected the luthite body to make it sound artificial and lifeless. I was nicely suprised with a nice full sound that I could shape to fit everything from jazz to rock. As far as being noisy, I couldn't tell if it's plugged in or not, it's that quiet. I play a wide variety of music (hard rock, funk, jazz, bluegrass, classical) and between the bass and my amp(ampeg ba115) I can shape the sound to fit all of the styles. I'm taking 1 point off because it doesn't have -perfect- low b clarity. And by perfect, I mean the kind of sound you find on a much more expensive bass.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I tried very hard to find SOMETHING wrong with it. There were absolutely zero dead notes, the action was low without ANY buzzing, no flaws. I am an incredibly critical person when it comes to the setup from the factory. I give it a BIG ten in this category.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've played it live without a backup consistently. Even when the luthite is scratched, you can barely tell at all. I've been quite careful with it, so I don't know if it would survive a major accident, but if it's anything like ibanez's other instruments, it'll be fine.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to deal with customer support.
It came with a non-transferable 1 year limited warranty.
I read through it and it's a fair warranty.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for several years and own a fender accoustic guitar as well. If I had it stolen I would probably buy it again, possibly spend a little more and get the EDA. I love being progressive and creative with my music. The tonal possibilities are very nice. I do wish it was lighter-you'd be amazed how heavy luthite could be! It's not so bad that it's a real problem, you just might have a sore back after the first couple gigs with it. I compared it to everything I saw, I literaly would go into a shop and play around on every bass I hadn't played before. The next runner up (reasonably priced bass) was a Carvin custom ($700). It really blew away everything in its price range. Play it, you'll be pleasantly suprised.

I think it was made in 99. I bought it in december about 5 months ago. Standard controls Volume, Balance, Pickup selectors, and Middle. Neck and Bridge Ibanez Humbuckers. I just found out there active (shit im stupid) you have to replace the batter about once a year just a regular 9 volt. Best bass I have ever played! I was so amazed by the feel and the sexy look of the bass. Better than some warwicks even. Extra Jumbo frets dot inlays. Everything on this bass screams out GREAT!

Sound : 10
I play death metal grindcore and some black metal. Mainly really heavy fast stuff. THis bass can play anything from Blues and Funk to Punk and Death metal.(though I hate punk) Basiclly bands like Cannial Corpse, Nile, Vader, DIllinger Escape Plan, Immolation, Cryptopsy, Slayer, Incantation, Deicide, and Soilent Green. This bass does it all. Im using an SVT CLassic 350 head and an Ampeg 8x10. I swear the bass makes it louder! even with my ODB Overdrive boss pedal it not noisy. It can handle both stage and studio without a prblem. The only thing i didnt liek is on the 8 and 6th fret theres a little buzzing but I was able to adjust the bridge in like 2 min so now its fine.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
As you may know its made out of Luthite a man made meterial to replace wood. I think luthite has an even better sound then wood. Ibanez dont make the greatest guitars but the kick everyones ass with this bass. THe only other bass's i would play is of course Warwick. The pick ups are perfect though in a couple of months i well be replaceing them with some EMG's but thats my style. No flaws nothing. But thicker neck then usaul for Ibanez's and heavy but ima big guy so trhat doesnt bother me.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have played at least 20 shows in the past 5 months and I will never ever use a back up. As soon as I get new pickups I will get another battrey slot though just incasef it dies on stage. But thats just the pickups. The finish i think is great but on some reviews it says it wears down to a nasty orange i ahevnt seen that yet though. The way its shaped near the neck makes it so comfrotable to play finger picking and slapping and popping. I never use a pick anyway.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I donnu never had to deal with them.

I have been playing for 2 years and this is the best bass i have ever owned. I also oown a GSR200 Ibanez and a Warick THUMB bass. My warwick is a little bitter than my EDB but for death metal the edb is way better. If it was stolen i would hunt down the fucker who took it kill them and get it back. If i couldn't find it I would definitly buy a new one. I also have an EQ Boss Equalizeer Lin 6 Bass pod Boss Chorus and Boss Synthesizer. Maybe in Night Navy this time. The Black Pearl finish is the best i ahve ever seen on a bass before. I think the warrent is liek 5 years i dont remember. What are you doing still reading this get off your ass AND BUY IT!!!

I was going to save more money to get american made Fender or Musicman, but then I thought I'd be spending too much money on my hobby when bass isn't my main instrument. So when I saw this bass for $320 I KNEW I had to have this bass, because two of my friends owns this bass(one was my ex-band's bassist so I knew a lot about this bass) and it played and sounded very good. Im just going to get to the point telling people simple things they can find on ibanez's website is completely pointless and a waste of time:

good things: its huge range of sounds, its finish, its very punchy and has huge bottom end expecially on the E and B strings, its neck is very very sleek and smooth very very easy to play fast on, it has a very effective eq on it and with the pickup blend its easy to get any sound you want in just a few seconds, you dont have to put strings through holes when stringing(very convienent),and the black chrome/grey pewter finish is amazing looking.

bad things: the b string sounds floppy(not alot though), its a very heavy bass(im guessing cause of the luthite).

Sound : 10
this bass sounds great, i slap/pop/finger/and pick and it sounds great with all, for me having a versatile bass is somthing i really like, i would never buy a bass that was limited on sounds. like i said before its a very punchy bass, and also has huge bottom end.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
i dont like my action low so when it was shipped to me i raised it up a bit(but thats just my preference) even though i belive this bass was designed for getting a very low action. everything is solid as a rock on it ive owned it probably half a year now and not one problem exept my brothers wanting to play it.

Reliability/Durability : 10
like i said before this bass is as solid as a rock, i dont think a backup bass would be necessary just maybe extra batterys in case it the other one went dead. the finish is great ive hit it on metal railings walking up stairways in my house and it hasent damaged it at all it also fell forward(off its stand) onto a wood tile floor with no damage recieved.

Customer Support : No Opinion
i called my local ibanez dealer to see if i could get a fretless neck for this bass but they dont make them for this model...they could have just taken a neck they havent cut fretlines into yet and ship it to me but i guess thats not how it works with them.. but no problems with the actual bass.

Overall Rating : 10
ive been playing for a couple of years, even though i know thats not a long time you can always tell whats a good bass and whats a bad bass and this is a good bass expecially considering you can get one for around $600(a steal). basically all ibanez ergodyne series basses are great.

This EDB605 was made in 2001 in Korea. It has 24 frets and is a five string. The bass has a 3-band graphic eq.(standard volume and pickup balancer, and the eq. has bass, middle and treble. The pickups on the bass are 2 humbuckers, it is very active. The boby material is Luthite and the neck is also. It has a rosewood fretboard. The neck is real thin and you can go from on end of the neck to the other in like .000001 seconds.

I play metal and it suits metal real well. I have a shitty practice amp right now but it sounds good even on that. My friend has one and she is in a local band that plays gigs and it sounds real good on her Ampeg stack. You can get virtually any sound you want on this bass....its crazy what this thing does.

The action when i got it was perfect but it was out of tune....but what can you expect. No flaws in this puppy. The pickups were adjusted just right.

THIS THING WILL WITHSATND A TERRORIST BOMBING! This thing is sooooo solid. I could depend on it with my life. I would not play a gig with any other bass as backup.

24 frets, body is made of Luthite (an Ibanez synthetic material), neck is maple. Has a 3 band equalizer and 2 humbuckers. I think it was made in Korea. You can only get the 5-string in a grey pewter finish, which looks ten times better than in the picture. It has a cut away for easy popping on the D and G strings. The neck is pretty much the same as the SR 485 and 405: very thin (not as thin as SR 885). The tuners aren't the most reliant to tell you the truth but they get the job done. This is my first 5-string and I'm still not used to the close string spacing on this thing. It fits my body perfectly, especially when I have the strap on. I also should mention that this thing ways a ton. It's got to be the heaviest bass I've ever held.

Sound : 10
My other bass is a GSR 200, which is a fine bass, but this thing blows it away in versatility. This thing can growl or punch or both by simply adjusting the 3-band equalizer. The pickups are absolutely great; specially made for the luthite. However it is a little bright for me, maybe it's because the strings are brand new and like them a little beaten up. I like a large variety of rock and I also love to slap. With a few adjustments you can get the P-bass sound. Also this is a great slapping bass. Sometimes I wish I had more room, but the sound quality is superb. By the way if you want to play Korn, buy this bass. I tried for hours unsuccesfully to get the Korn sound out of my GSR 200. With this thing all you have to do is turn off the mids on the equalizer on the bass on your amp and turn up the bass and treble all the way. You even get the cool percussive clicking sound that Fieldy gets. I was very happy.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action is perfect. The finish is flawless on the body (and no fingerprints ever!!). However the finish on the neck is a little sloppy. Another problem with the finish on the neck is that when you're really moving up and down the fingerboard and building up a bit of a sweat, the neck kind of sticks to your hands. It's hard to describe, but it feels like the finish is rubbing off on your hands (I've made sure that this isn't the case by the way). I do have trouble with the closeness of the strings but I think that's because I'm used to the 4-string.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This thing could really take a beating. It ways a ton and is built like a rock. I couldn't even imagine how you could dent or scratch it. Strap buttons are solid. I'm a little worried about that finish on the neck though. They should have just left the maple if you ask me.

I don't even know how to reach Ibanez. Anyway, as for where I bought it from, Musician's friend, gave me a great deal. No shipping or taxes (they've taken that away as far as I know; I think Music 123 still has it if you're intersted), and they gave me a lower price because I found it for cheaper at Music-n-sound.com. It was backordered so it took a few weeks but everything was fine with it.

I've been playing for a year and a half now. This is a great bass, and I don't think I'll be buying another for a few years now. It has great sound and just looks cool. I have to say that the SR 485 and 405 aren't far off from this one, so I'd consider looking at those. My brother has an Ibanez guitar and I have 2 Ibanez basses and we're all very happy. In my opinion Ibanez does make the best mid to low priced basses (my opinion might be construed, however). Bottom line: if it was 90$ less it would be the greatest bass ever.

My EDB605 was made in 1999, in Korea. It's a 5 string work horse with 24 frets and a Luthite body in Gray Pewter. There's one volume, one bass, one treble, one mid, and one balance control. There's a dxh2n in the neck and a dxh2b in the bridge. It's totally active! Tons of punch! I don't know what material the neck is made out of, but whatever it is, it's great. It also came with a hardshell case.

Sound : 10
The EDB605 can get you any sound virtually. It's the best sounding bass I've ever played. I play a wide variety from speed metal and hardcore to rock, blues, latin, and Primus.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Everything on the bass was great when I got and still is...except for one thing. the input jack keeps getting looser and looser. but i can fix that anytime i want, but it doesn't bother me. The body is great! It's made out of Luthite and doesn't leave any fingerprints when you touch it.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I got this bass around November '99 and probably use it a good 3-4 hours a day. It still plays the same as it did the first day I got it. I would definately play a show without a backup unless it was another EDB605.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with them

I've been playing for 2 years and I play this through a hartke b60 and a Peavey TNT 115S. I would definately buy this again because it's the best bass I've layed my hands on. I love everything about it.

It's a 5 string bass with active electronics and 3 band EQ. 24 frets, solid-body, and locking tuners. The finish is gray pewter or white. It has a volume, bass, mids, treble and balancer knob. The balancer I think changes which pickup is selected but I could be wrong. Luthite body, rosewood fingerboard, not sure about neck material. Has a lot of great features for the price.

Sound : 9
I play metal and hard rock, mostly metallica, sabbath, ozzy, motorhead, etc. I play this through a peavey combo 115. It has a very punchy and warm sound. You can get anything from a thin bright sound to a deep, thick sound. Using the EQ, you can get a wide variety of sounds. the balancer changes the tone even more. you can get an almost endless variety of sounds. There is almost no noise either. If you crank the treble youll get a slight hiss but thats about it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I bought it used and when I got it, the setup was horrible. The strings were so high off the fretboard at the higher end that they were really hard to use. After I got it set up professionally, it is great. It buzzes at 2 or 3 frets but that is probably because the action is so low. The neck is pretty thin and really comfortable. It has an overall great feel. I think the original owner must have messed with the action before selling it but I dont know. The construction was pretty good too. The edge of the nut is a little sharp and there is some rust under the control knobs, but this might be from the previous owner. Other than that the construction is good. The finish is really smooth and even too.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Never had any problems here. The luthite body seems to stand up to abuse better than traditional body materials. I think it will be around for a while.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to deal with them.

It sounds good, plays good, looks good, and it s pretty cheap. I'd buy it again.

This bass was made in Korea. I'm not shure when it was made, but who cares. It is a 5-string bass with 24 frets. Made of luthite and it was given the shape to fit your body like a glove ( at least mine..) Anyone who posesses this bass is blessed with a 3-band equaliser (low, mid, high),a volume knob and a pickup balancer. You just can't wish to have anything more. Pickup configuration: dual soapbar with Ibanez pickups, i guess the pickups are passive, but the eq. uses a battery. The color is like metallic black or something, it's called grey pewter. The bridge is an accucast b25, rigid and good looking What else to say?

Sound : 10
The sound is perfect and you can modify it in absolutely any way. I use it on a Marshall b65 amp for practice and it sounds just good, it may sound even better if I would buy a more powerful amp. I can't say this bass is noisy because it isn't. The sound it gives is very diverse, you can have a rich full(maybe too full) sound or just the opposite, as I explained, you can do almost anything with this bass. On stag performance is good, it's a good performing bass, and it looks good too, no dislikes.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
When i bought the bass the action was perfect. And it still is, flying on the fretboard is easy to do, Ibanez made a really playable bass. Pickups were mounted correct en were also adjusted correct. The bass did not contain any flaws, everything was put together rigidly and the hardware was shining like a mirror.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It is a very rigid bass, i think it would still be in one piece after a collision with a schoolbus, I'm serious. If it were stolen i woul buy a new one instantly. Re-adjusting isn't really necessary, cause luthite doesn't really expand and bend like wood. I woul certainly use it on a gig without something that comes near to a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not needed

Overall Rating : 10
I am really satisfied with this bass, if somebody would attempt to steal it i would just grab my other bass (Peavey) and beat him with it until he gave it back (undamaged of course)

This bass is packed with features. The body is made of Luthite which is a kind of graphite. It's made in Korea which may sound dodgy but I've had no problems except for slight wear on the fret bored. It's got twin humbucking pickups with a balance control between the two.

Sound : 9
If you play metal like Korn or Limp Bizkit then this is the bass for you. It sounds amazing and hooked up with my commpresor pedal it sounds even better. It gives a real clean sound with no distortion.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I can not fault Ibanez on this, It was well set up when I got it and had no flaws and added to the fact that it looks sexier than shit on a stick it's amazing

Reliability/Durability : 9
I've only had it for 3 months and I can see this thing lasting a long long time. It's with stood me beating are guitarist over the head with it, but only time will tell.

I havent needed this yet so I cant really say.
